Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
...you didn't get a Subaru? I am seriously shocked! (But yay! Congrats on the new car)
Well, Jessup had second thoughts about the Jetta, so we're still on the hunt... So we will see..
FWIW, I love my Jetta but holy fuck the regular maintenance is expensive. If I hadn't been completely lied to when I originally got the car, I wouldn't have bought it for that reason.

I left my Kindle on a Frontier airplane on Friday. I didn't bother to report it because last time I left one one a Delta flight (I'm not very good at keeping up with my stuff), I reported it and it didn't do any good. So I just figured I was going to have to do without a Kindle from now on. But I just got an email from Frontier saying they'd found it and giving me information for how I can get it back!
Update: So I've been totally offered the job, and while all of it sounds great (mostly delivery, but directly supportin' the head brewmaster when needed, and generally doin' whatever might be needed) the pay rate is gonna hurt. I'll prolly make a solid $5k less than I currently do. And believe me I don't make a lot at all!
But my girlfriend is encouragin' me, and so is my ma. Think I'm gonna give it a try.
I'm personally a big fan of putting enjoying your work & life over money at a certain point. and once you're doing something you really like, or gives you opportunities to do what you love, you're going to perform better just because you're happy!
recruiter session was last week. almost 250 recruiters, 100 of us. and it was actually not remotely as stressful as we expected and I had a lot of great talks. 1 recruiter and I talked about radiohead for almost a half hour and another one swapped stories about prince & first ave with me for almost an hour.
I have 3 really really good job prospects right now. I think the hardest part is going to be making the final choice. so it's safe to say I'm feeling really really grateful and lucky right now.

Unfortunately after a lot of internal debate and talkin' to close friends I decided to pass on the opportunity. I really did wanna work fer them, but a startin' pay of $10-12 at my age just wasn't workable. And I was thinkin' of tryin' to do Uber/Lyft part time, but it just wasn't gonna work. I need a job that will hopefully include healthcare and a possible retirement option/plan.

aw man, I'm sorry to hear that! Maybe you could squeeze in some kind of apprenticeship or super part time work with the brewery to work on your brewing skills. That way it could be a possibility in the future! Never hurts to ask or try if it's what gets you excited!
sitting around refreshing my inbox... because I have some great news coming in... but because I can't call my mom just yet...
I'll be starting at R/GA next month!!!!! my boyfriend accepted a job last week, too, so we'll be moving to NYC at the beginning of june!!!!
I feel beyond lucky. straight up was crying in my professor's office last week because I can't believe how lucky I've been and that my work has paid off. R/GA has always been one of my top choices, and that feeling has only grown as I've met people from the office//met people from other agencies. it just worked out almost *too* easy, but that just means I made the absolute correct decision 2.5 years ago when I decided to apply. AHHH!! I can't believe it's all happening. and apartment hunting will happen next week! EEK!!
(also saw [the band formerly known as viet cong] preoccupations last night. awesome show. and I met the band beforehand and they were SO COOL.)

That's amazing!! Congratulations It's so nice when things fall into place, isn't it? Something to savor and enjoy, for sure.

I'm pretty sure this is the first time I've had this kind of "fall into place" shit happen for a job, too, so it feels extra special. I'm latching onto the excitement as much as I can! haha
I finally got a job offer. After applying to what seems like a hundred places the past few months I told myself that an offer from this company would be best case scenario for me. And I finally got it. I've never felt so relieved in my life.
my dad finally had a follow-up with his oncologist this week. with radiation/chemo and changing his diet, his tumor is gone! he has another scan next week to be sure that the cancer hasn't spread, and a possible surgery coming up, but this is such a good start. i am so grateful and can't stop crying when i think about it.

We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.

I'm no longer mad about not being in Spain.
Our friends told us Sunday that they set a date and venue for their wedding. It is next September, in Portugal! On an unbelievable vineyard! That might be the groom's grandfather's (the groom is Portuguese).
I'm so happy for them and also having a really selfish moment that I get to plan a European vacation around their wedding.
Few things feel as good as turning on the Out of Office Autoreply on your work email. I'm not gonna be back for over a month and that's wonderful.
Chance show tonight, leaving tomorrow. HYPE.
Nice to see you finally get on the Chance hype train. We've been waiting on you.
I hope you plan on posting pictures somewhere throughout the journey. I always love adventures.
I'll post pics to fb and Snapchat so my friends and fam know I'm alive, but I just got my first DSLR a couple weeks ago in preparation for this trip so when I get home is when I'll post the good stuff.
So a couple of months ago my friend had planned a quick visit from MKE to Chicago to visit tomorrow night to see Portugal The Man so he didn't have to see them at Bonnaroo. I've never listened to them, but I figured if he made the trip down I'd go just so we could hang out talk about Bonnaroo since I wasn't going this year, and because I don't get to see him very often. We had forgotten about the plans until right before Roo, and by then the tickets were already sold out, so we decided we'd just see each other when he comes down to see Gorillaz with me next month. Today, I received a call that I won two tickets to see PTM. I called my friend, told him he better get his butt down here since I have a ticket with his name on it, and now I'll get to see him! I'm not so much yay-ing about seeing PTM because I don't know anything about them, but I'm just happy to see a friend I don't get to see as often as I used to!
Paid off my car yesterday. Feels so good to take that off my budget and put the money elsewhere.
I have the opposite yay.
So I was sitting in my car the other day, getting ready to leave work, and I had not yet shut the driver's side door. At the same time, someone else was leaving, which triggered the gate to open. My parking spot is right next to the gate, and as it opened, it caught my door and bent it all the way backwards. It was one of the most surreal moments of my life watching the gate bend my car door like that. It felt like it went on forever. Anyway, that car was 14 years old and it's a total loss, so now I'm car shopping! I'm not looking forward to having my first ever car payment, but I am looking forward to having air conditioning and a suspension system that's not shot all to hell!
