the boyfriend and I got approved for our permanent, *RENT STABILIZED* apartment!!!!!!
SOOOO excited to hopefully not have to move again for a long while. also excited we got a banger of a deal for the price - which is virtually locked in for as long as we're there.
My appointment with Social Security went well and I got accepted into my interest area for my major.
Well, now I might graduate a semester early with a BA in Journalism and a Minor in Film Studies. For a guy who essentially wasted a semester because his brain went haywire I'd say that's pretty good.

First two weeks of my new job going well so far. Wrote my first press releases, pitch letter, media clips for the Firm partners and briefing decks and enjoying everything. Plus, I'll be going to NYC for a week to visit their NY office in mid-September!

I must sound like a broken record but go to Corner Bistro in the west village and Joe's Pizza off Bleeker St.
My sister got engaged to her boyfriend of seven years.
I was supposed to talk to my lady's dad last night, but she sprung surprise dinner plans on me with the neighbors. Now we'll be talkin' at some point next week when he returns to town. While I have no doubt he will give me his blessin's, I'm almost as nervous to talk to him as to pop the actual question. I've got a very loose plan in mind (under high pressure situations I just feel better wingin' it), but I've had the engagement ring some six weeks now.
I've noticed more grey hairs over these last six weeks.
::edit::
TOTALLY unrelated, but one of my favorite bands reunited fer a brand spankin' (and sure to be seXXXy) new album through Kickstarter that will be released in like two weeks. Stupid excited to hear new tunes from Tub Ring!
...but I'm hopin' to put a ring on it before that so I can just be over the moon 'bout life.
The past month has been a slog, with me working 28 days straight with just one day off. But today is my second day of my mid-week weekend, and my grandparents aren't home so I have tons of music on deck that I don't have to listen to through headphones, and I'm about to make some coffee and maybe do a spot of laundry; otherwise I can just relax all day. Now my only decision is whether or not I'm going to be an adult and throw most of that overtime money towards my CC debt or if I'm gonna go to DfN.

Anyway here's to days off!
Don't be an adult and come to DfN!
Dude I want to. Between just the ticket, hotel, and flights I'm looking at $1200+, and that's a hefty pill to swallow.

We can share the hotel if you want to (I'll be paying ~$320 with taxes for three nights, $160/person is not bad IMO).
The fest itself is $240.
I didn't do much research on the ticket prices, but the last time I checked it was around $300 round trip, direct flight.
So, it's around $700.
Yeah I musta mathed wrong; it's actually closer to a thousand (I'm gonna do the Friday summit if I go). And unfortunately no nonstop flights outta Philly. =( I might take you up on the room offer though - where are you staying?

I'll be at Club Quarters Hotel in downtown, with some other Inforooers (I know Rummy, Rothric, hambone and Phi are gonna be there). Apparently it's very close to the venue.
By the way, I'm seriously considering Friday summit as well. Just waiting for my paycheck so that I can purchase.

Wasn't a huge difference between PHL and BWI pricewise, unless you left early on Thursday morning

I didn't really consider flying out of BWI since that's a few hours away from me, but they have roundtrip flights with Spirit for $139, which is incredible, really. Nonstop and at convenient times, too. Hmm.

Roundtrip for $139? That's crazy.
You know it's a sign that you're supposed to go to DfN.

Oh man, if it was that straightforward the tickets would have been bought by now. That price is for Spirit though, so figure an extra $30 each way for bags, and then since it's in Baltimore I have to either drive park my car there for $60+ or take a train that's $80 round trip. Still cheaper than leaving from Philly though, and at least from Baltimore the flights are nonstop.
But trust me, I'm playing around with variables and combinations with the same intensity that I do in Mafia. But then again given my performance in that last round, maybe that's not saying much lmao.

I will keep this in mind, thank you! Still trying to bug a couple home friends to go so we'll see.

I checked that this morning and freaked out and texted my wife. 3rd night this week that I’m sleeping on the couch.
Finally not shit broke! I have money for groceries, all bills are caught up and paid, starting to pay off the credit cards that I maxed out due to Riot Fest vacation and house purchase/updates. Feeling really fucking good today. Overtime for the Silver Plume awards (which was a huge success Wednesday night) is not a bad thing. I feel like for the first time in over three months I can breath again and eat something other than mac and cheese. I am so fucking ecstatic!

I almost posted something in the GRRRRR thread because we lost Tom Petty on Monday, and he was only 66. But I decided to post here instead, because seeing him and The Heartbreakers at Roo in 2013 was a major highlight for me. That show reminded me first that Mike Campbell is one of the most underrated guitar players ever, but also that Tom is one of the best song writers we've known, too. It was rainy and steamy, the crowd wasn't especially raucous or huge, and it would have been easy to phone one in, but Tom and co. gave us what we paid for, and did a great job closing out the festival.
It's said to see him leave us now because he still had a ton of songs in him that would have meant something to so many people, and because he was probably about to stop touring so extensively and relax and just enjoy life more. Of course we always want more, but he gave us plenty to think about over 40+ years of recording, pouring his heart out in a remarkably relatable way. I'll be forever thankful for the pure rock music that Tom Petty gave us - it was, is, and will remain something very special.
Y'all Kyle is coming home for the weekend tonight!! I haven't seen him since he left for College on August 13. I miss him so much. thejeremy is working all weekend so we will get some really great mom/son time. I bought all his favorite snacks and I am so excited.
