As some of you may know (don't know if I mentioned it on here), for the past few months I've been living with my grandparents after being unable to secure housing when my lease was up last May. I haven't minded too much, but with this living situation comes a 45-minute commute and the ever-present feeling that I'm living in Someone Else's House. Since college I've lived with roommates (both with friends and with randos), and this week I signed a lease on a new place that's literally two blocks from my job. It's a three-bedroom duplex with a completely redone kitchen and new appliances. The landlord is renting out the rooms individually and so far hasn't had any takers, so until he does I'll have the whole place to myself, for the price of a single room. I am so excited! For the past three years I've cohabitated with randos, and for the most part kept to myself in my room. They weren't really the best roommates and we never really hung out in common areas. Just the occasional hello or small talk in the kitchen. So I get to spread out and really make the place my own. I'll probably have roommates again within a few months, but in the meantime I'm going to enjoy the fuck out having my own place all to myself.

Boyfriend went out to his brother's tonight. So I got me a box of wine and am blasting some tunes. I love being home alone.
All I really need is to get a freakin' record player and be able to actually listen to all the new vinyl I've bought since moving out of my parents' house. Dad needs to give me his sweet Technics turntable.

Just bought tickets to see Dweezil Zappa in April! There haven’t been any concerts here so far that we’ve been interested in so this is extra exciting!

I got a new job! I'm going to be a producer for a food and travel show in the south. It's a big promotion for me and I'm SUPER excited about the content and the freedom I'll have to tell good stories.
And the best part is... I'm not a journalist anymore! I'm free to express myself and publicly fight for things I believe in and stuff!

Quite the contrary. I moved on. It was the first time I saw her as one of my best friends instead of the girl that broke my heart that I had been senselessly chasing. I also found stuff out about her that I previously didn’t know that made this a lot easier to do. This was a good thing (and a week long trip to Mexico for less than $500)
Gonna sound like a look at me post but it’s not the intent. Shit got really cold this week in the south, and Pensacola made it to the low teens. No one had been to my house here in months so the heater wasn’t on. I knew I needed to get over here to make sure there were no pipe issues and because shit probably needed a good scouring. Well pipes were fine and place was clean. So I went over to a sushi place close by where I know the chef (Saki Cafe chef Wyan). He was in a free standing but had bought the old Scientology compound across 9th Ave from where he was. We got to sit at the sushi bar and proceeded to eat and eat and eat. It’s bad enough that it was happy hour, he continued to pile shit on us. I’m so full I’m about to take a nap. But wait, there’s more. Winn Dixie had Kona brewery beers for like 5.50. Wtf? I’d say it’s my lucky day and I should go to the casino, but I stopped at Scarlett Pearl in Biloxi in the way over and lost 100. But still Yay.

Last night I finally finished the afghan I've been working on since March. I posted it on facespace, so a few of you have seen it already. But you're going to see it again because I'm really pleased with it and I'm screaming "YAY!" around my apartment because I am finally done with the border. The border is what I thought was going to kill me, it was SO boring compared to the main pattern.
