Actually the producer of Faces of Death has said publicly that 75% of the deaths are staged, but most ARE real footage obtained by said person.
It's not about whether they are real or not, it shouldn't make the images go down any smoother...our society is so obsessed with the gruesome that these had to be made.....they're like porn....look at the progression of death and porn, they are the same.....they get more and more graphic with time....and do you think that is healthy?
I'm apologize this isn't the place to discuss such matters I just can't help but get kinda mad when I hear about Faces of Death because the idea that people get some kind of enjoyment out of watching people die, real or not, makes me weep for the future
I do think catharsis has its place and each individual will process those images at a different level. I guess for me the question is what is the intent of those images? In the case of Faces of Death I'd say it seems to be exhibitionism more than anything else. And to me thats not something worth watching.

I agree, I can't speak for the entire population when I go on a rant about how unhealthy I think the videos are, because everyone has the right to form their own opinion. But the videos were made for no educational or theraputic reason, they were made to satisfy the masses, it is exhibitionism, and it makes me sad......So somehow I think we might get smited for continuing such a dreadful topic on such a cheerful board....so what do you do chico? did I miss that on a previous page?
I am a business analyst/project manager (its on an earlier page) but I studied theatre theory in college. My emphasis happened to be a French theory called Theatre of Cruelty thus my interest in how people react to this "extreme" performance.

Wow, that is very similar to alot of my studies, I focus alot on the reaction of society to death in the media, it's fascinating isn't it? Theatre of Cruelty huh? I will have to check that out, sounds like it might be a good reference!
It probably would be. The theory became very popular in the late 50s through the 70s and it is a precursor to alot of the punk movement and other peformance art. The main book is called A Theatre and Its Double by Antonin Artaud. Check it out! We should chat more about this stuff but its my bed time since I get up for the work. Lame.
i'm going where the sun keeps shining, thru' the pouring rain, going where the weather suits my clothes. backing off of the north east wind, sailing on summer breeze, and skipping over the ocean like a stone.

I am a Designer for IKEA. More specifically a Visual Merchandiser. I don't work with customers designing their houses or anything, I work in the store....basically I take my eye and my love for all things shiny and pretty and make attractive displays for our customers. IKEA's slogan is "Home is the most important place in the world." I really take that to heart, and I'm very passionate about interiors. I take pride in the fact that I can inspire people to create a home that is comfortable and that they love to spend time in, and usually without spending a whole lot of money to do it. I really like what I do!

haaaaaaaaaaa um no. though that is me out dancing, and i have been asked to do that as a job quite a few times.
i unload trucks, handle packages (haha) and basically do anything else physically needed in a store, besides handling cash or cleaning bathrooms. i don't get paid much, but money doesn't mean shit to me seeing as how i left the highest paying job i ever had in order to take this one. i finally go the clue that money will not make me happy, but my mindset, daily work and the people i choose to have around me will. it doesn't work for everyone, but it's working splendidly for me.
my occupation is college. my means of making money is eating as much cheap food as possible from the grocery and as little expensive fast food as possible so i can spend my food money on other thigns.
