Went for my second wash just now and I'm half peeled.
And yes my artist told me all about the sunscreen. Ill have to get in that habit before Roo for sure, can't have my pretty blue fading! Speaking of color, any ideas on how I could mix in some more on mine? I've been thinking of a ring of yellow after the blue, and maybe some green around the edge.
if i were you i wouldn't go outside the final outline. i think maybe put purple around the inside blue and between the branches. and then another color with the blue in the outside ring. maybe yellow or green. when its good and heeled you can test out what colors you like with washable markers!! ;D
^^^ Don't take this the wrong way, but your arm appears freakishly long in that photo.
For the sake of argument, the warm water opening your pores and losing ink thing doesn't make sense to the scientific medical part of my mind. The ink isn't in your pores, it's deep in your dermis. I don't think you can lose it that way. I'm not trying to call you out or anything, it's just my opinion. I think that there is a lot of lore and "wives tales" around tattoo care. There's not a lot of studies being done to study what works and what doesn't;
I just washed mine carefully with unscented soap and used unscented lotion on it. When I expose it to the sun, I use sunscreen.

I am a major lurker; rarely poking my head out. But I think I'll contribute. I really wish I had cool stories to go with this but I was young and didn't really dig the whole "thinking things through" scene.
So on that note... Can anyone guess my name? C'mon. I'll give you three tries but you'll only need one. The story behind this is I was in a kitchen and a guy asked my bf at the time if he wanted a tattoo. Then I, believing it could be a "bonding" experience, got one too... At least it wasn't his name. It is on my lower back so yes, it's a tramp stamp. Also, it looks crooked b/c I'm holding a camera with my right hand to my back. Just to clarify. This tat: not the best idea I've ever had.
The symbol below it is a celtic-style cancer symbol. Look close and you'll see the yin-yang/69-type thing. Another bonding experience with people I don't talk to anymore... So the bonding really didn't work, I suppose.
I wouldn't mind getting more tattoos but I they'd really have to mean a lot to me this time... Anyways, have a lovely day, all!
Oh and hello everyone. I like to lurk, my name's Jeff and I have a tattoo. ;D Here's a crappy picture of it.
Here's an official welcome to the boards And an official compliment, freakishly long arms or not, your sleeve is incredible! Do you have any detailed photos of it?

Johnny Cornseed was an American pioneer nurseryman who introduced corn trees to large parts of the east coast. He became an American legend, largely because of his kind and generous ways, his great leadership in conservation, and the symbolic importance of corn.

I'd like to expand into possible a half sleeve. Just need to figure out what to put in it haha. I'm already thinking I want something in graffiti. Either incorporated with my tree or my other forearm. And its amazing what some people. A coworker was talking about how I spent "half my paycheck" in my tattoo then kind of balked when I explained what the tree of life meant. Needless to say when I told him the motivation behind me getting it he felt like a jackass. Just a reminder to keep your mouth shut if you don't really know someone past.
popping in here to comment about other people's comments about tattoos:
My friend just got a really cool tattoo - watercolor-ish cherry blossoms over her shoulder and partly onto her chest and arm. So pretty. We were out Friday night and another friend asked her "do you really want that for the rest of your life?"
Seriously? a) it's an awesome piece, b) my friend already has 4 or 5 tattoos and c) um, yeah, it's already there. You don't make negative comments about something someone can't change. (though the cherry blossoms do cover up the tattoo she had removed)

Tattoos should be like everything else. If you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all. Especially with a subject that can be very personal.

This is one of 4... This picture is a couple years old, its at the shop just after getting it done.
Story behind it: I'm a bassist. I got this one and it represents an inner reflection of what I love and what drive me: bass. hence the double bass clefs if you didn't already catch that... I got this when I was in the band Buckfast and our first major release came out in 2006.

So true. I know my tattoos don't mean much except the representation of a part of my life that has passed. However, I love watching things like Miami/LA Ink where the meaning of the tattoo is explained by the tattoo-ee (?). It's fascinating and inspirational to see how people come up with these ideas and what they mean to them.

That is sooo gorgeous! I really hope you're in love with it I'll definitely keep an eye out for your intensely amazing sleeve at 'Roo. Plus, the flowers in my back piece/neck are really similar to those toward the bottom of yours. Who is the artist?

Oh I absolutely love it. It took me two years to design.. which is the reason I don't have any more yet.. Still sitting on my next idea to decide if I truely want it or not. This was my first ever tattoo and my only one currently. Sitting 5 hours for my first ever session is was an experience to say the least. I'll be at the brunch so you can catch me there. The flowers are cherry blossoms.
The tattoo artist was a good friend Keith. We did all 24 hours of it in his attic.

^Whew, I bet 5 hours for your first was pretty intense! My first was only ~2, my second was 7.5... They've all been around there since, I'm thinking around 8 is my breaking point. Body just says fuck no after that It really is beautiful though, tell your friend Keith he has an admirer. And high five to you for the design. How did you start it? Sorry for the interrogation but I'm on the verge of starting my sleeve. And I've never really seen one that has completely taken me aback like that. It's just super awesome

I started a half sleeve design the other night and talked to my artist about it. I'm thinking starting at my wrist a few flowers maybe a purple iris. Then as you pass up the tree and it turns into a crazy sky scene with a big shooting star and some other stuff. The only color I want I'd on the lowers and some stars with black and gray shading behind it. I plan on doing small chunks of 3osh hours a piece; I have a hard time sitting still for awhile.
I've been thinking about getting a tat for a while now and when I come back from bonnaroo I'm thinking I'm going to get something Bonnaroo related. Anybody have any picures or symbols or suggestions that would make a sweet Bonnaroo tat?

I recently got a medium sized dragon on my right shoulderblade. I want to get another, smaller tattoo - a treble clef with music notes coming off it - but I am really torn as to where to put it. I want it to be somewhere it can be covered on a daily basis for work, but I want people to see it otherwise. I don't want to put one on the other shoulderblade though. I am a little older and not likely to wear a bikini, so I don't want it anywhere on my torso. The only place that I can think of is the back of my neck, just under the hairline, so when I wear my hair up, it will show.

I love the hairline tattoos, my only concern is that it's a very popular location right now. But whatevs, all that matters is if you like it.
Another thought is right below your hip on the outside of your leg. Where your bathingsuit would end.

So, I was looking for inspiration because I want to get a tattoo when I lose more weight, sort of a celebration of achievement kind of thing. Anyway, I ran across these:
This guy actually got his eyeball tattooed! I guess it's not really supposed to hurt to have a needle in your eyeball, but still . . . yikes!

Yeah hadn't thought of that spot, but as often as I wear a bathing suit, I think base of the neck may be better for me. I wonder how painful that area is going to be........

Not only is that gross but I hope those fingernails do not belong to the person doing the work....... Nasty!

I really can't find any appreciation in eyeball tattoos.... I dunno, just me, I guess. I did hear the other night that there are only like 4 artists in the US licensed to do it, not sure if that is fact. Plus, would that technically be a "tattoo"? From what I've gathered it's just the pooling of ink just inside the cornea...
