hippienaustin, I love your tat. I've been thinking of getting one for my grandmother as well, who passed away in January.
thanks so much it was really important to me to finally get it. i was her only grandchild, and we were super close, and i feltl ike i had never really gotten past her death. it still makes me sad to think about, of course, but having that constant reminder makes me smile more than anything. i think it was closure to finally get the tat.

^^I know exactly how you girls feel. I was raised by a single mother so my other parental figure was my granny. she was also a big gardener. me and my cousin have been working on a tat that is a bed of irises that resides on our feet and and when we put our feet together it creates a whole flower scene.
Here is mine. This is a terrible pic of it. The lighting is bad, and I was having to twist around, so it looks slanted. And the colors are bolder than this. I'm hoping to get another soon!

yeah well I had forgotten so I looked at her like she was crazy and just smiled at her. if she is reading this right now....thanks. lol.

Set my appointment today to get my first tattoo tomorrow. I'm getting a celtic tree, blue with a black outline. Then like a circle border in black around the whole tree. Kind of a RIP tattoo for my nephew, kind of just me remembering that everything comes back around full circle. Hoping to turn it into a big bright beautiful piece one day, and also planning another piece for the back of my calf before I even get my first one lol. Kat at Kustom Thrills in Nashville will be doing it if anyone local reads this.
This is it upside down. It hurt like a bitch, but it was well worth it. I was one of those that get endorphowned and had to take a few minutes to chill out so I didn't fall out of the chair when my body over reacted to them.
Thanks. I knew I wanted the tree for a long time, but since it's a fairly popular tattoo I told her to add some blue wherever she could and just make it look right. I plan on adding more color in about a month, maybe adding something else in April.
Yea I really dig the blue in it...Im trying to get another here soon, but I gotta move on it being that summer is coming up and I want to give it enough time to fully heal before being out in the sun. Want the Roo rings somewhere thinking on my back
Yeah I'd rather not get alot of stuff done this summer because truth be told I'm trying to get rid of the farmers tan this year. Maybe something on my ass white thigh?
I'm thinking of getting a second tattoo to celebrate finishing nursing school this year, but I'll wait until I pass boards. I haven't decided, but top in the running is a small Florence Nightingale lamp. It looks sort of like an Aladdin lamp. Flo used her lamp to check on her patients throughout the night. We carry lamps during our Pinning ceremony to honor Florence Nightingale.
A search for "nurse tattoo" on google images yields some interesting results, btw.

"30 years from now today's tattoos won't be marks of freedom, but indelible reminders of conformity" - Somebody.
Smite me if you will but I don't really like tattoos. They are cool on other people I guess...just not me. To me the body is too pretty when it's natural to cover up...sorry...I like all natural.

Well I hope noone smites you for expressing your opinion, but this is inforoo and it does happen. My tattoos and piercings were never done in a rebellious fashion nor did I look at them as a way to separate myself. I think tattoos that are tastefully done make the human body even more beautiful than it already is.

Why thank you...and yes I know people loooove to smite opinions all the time on here...but that's okay because it's not real karma anyway. If it was...I would probably be okay. haha.
I have a question then...what made you want to have a tattoo or piercing?
I just would really hate to have to feel things that aren't supposed to be on the body when I want to be intimate with my significant other. I want to just feel the skin and not metal.
And I say that quote for the majority of people who get tattoos or piercings done. Because really at some point most of those people saw a tattoo or a piercing on someone else and then decided that they would also look good with one...and half the time they just don't. I can't wait to see our generation when we are old and wrinkly...all of those pieces that have been done to the body aren't going to look so hot later. And yeah I know that is one of the main arguments for people against them too but it's true...it's going to look retarded when you get old.
Don't get me wrong though...I'm not against it completely...I just don't care. Do what you will...Love ya guys. Don't hit me!

I think there is a sense of rebellion in it, that's part of the overall lure of a tattoo. The design and reasoning plays alot behind it. For instance I got mine for other reasons than "it looks cool and the blue is pretty" as opposed to Mr. Bud Ice penguin on his ass who was just really drunk. They're not for everyone, but I'm at right about 24 hours with mine and I absolutely love it.

I wouldnt disgree with you... I say the alot of tattoos I see are tasteless and not thought through. The same reasons that you dont like tattoos are the same reasons I like tats and piercings. I think it adds to the beauty of the human body (again noting if they are tastefully done). I understand the natural approach to sex and whatnot but I dont have any piercings I cant take out. Actually if you were to pass me on the street right now, my nose is the only "body modification" that is visible and the diamond in it is so small half the time people dont even notice. I have 2 tattoos and 8 piercings(if you count the lobes as 2). I never had the intention of saying "hey look at what I did to myself, does it make me cool?" I have a "professional" job, and while I dont necessarily agree that what you choose to put on your body defines you as a person, its usually frowned upon in the "professional" world.
And as for when I get older--is anything on me gonna really look hot when my skin is saggy--ink or not? ;D
And bill I understand what your saying about the rebellious thing however it would be rebellious if I was say 14 and my parents didnt want me doing it. While its taboo to an extent, its also widely accepted to an extent. I think those that find it highly offensive are my grandmas age and are dying off, probably the same that would find homosexuality highly offensive. Theres a word I want to use for it, but I dont have it right now.
my first was done just for the sake of having a tattoo. the rest were done because i loved the feeling of getting the first. while i am getting ink done i tell myself "beauty is pain, pain is beauty" and it gets me through the session. there is something about that "cat-scratching" feeling that is addicting.
