Ok, full disclosure...I'm a Dolphins fan, so obviously I was a big Marino fan, and I always compare other QB's to him. As Favre was approaching his TD record I always knew Marino had a better td/int ratio and int/pass attempt ratio, and I also assumed that Favre's was pretty bad historically. I did some research and it turns out I was wrong.
I looked at the top ten QB's for all time passing touchdowns. Among them, Favre ranked 5th in interceptions per pass attempt, so while his great number of attempts is what got him the interception record, he did only stack up marginally in that category among his peers (and was behind Marino of course!).
Any guess who had the best ratio among the top ten? Worst? Here is the list....
Well he's married so I'm sure he has at least one.
You're absolutely right with what you're getting at though. Marino really should have went both ways and played defense. Probably should have subbed in at running back too. Everybody knows football isn't a team sport.

Apparently nobody cares, but FYI, Montana had the best ratio at 1 pick per 38 passes, and Johnny Unitas had by far the worst at 1 for every 20 passes. That shocked me.

1. of course i realize AP played in college. but to watch him do what he is doing against nfl talent is more amazing, imo. and the nfl screws players over in terms of $$$ (for the most part). there are no guaranteed contracts in the nfl..so the vast majority of players have to go prove themselves week aftere week or they dont have a job. that certainly gives them incentive to play with "heart".
2. i have a lot easier time screwing over the 9th best team in the country over the 3rd best team who may be undefeated or have one loss. if you are the 9th ranked team, you cant complain. but if you are the 3rd ranked team, there is a good chance you have the same amount of losses the top 2 teams have.

1. yes, the BCS system sucks...i have said that for years. however, the ncaa is full of STUDENTS with lives outside of the sport, trying to earn a degree
I do like college better than pros as well, but I have to point out that every other division in the NCAA has a tournament besides D1A. An 8 team tournament would only cause 1 extra game for two teams and 2 extra games for two teams. There are definitely other factors at work that keep a tournament from happening.

1. ok, i'm sorry, but saying the nfl "screws people out of money" is ridiculous. they're overpaid to begin with, IMO. and they SHOULD have to prove themselves if they're hoping for the big bucks. still doesn't keep them from whining.
2. this would be an excellent point if there weren't seasons like this last one where the top 10 teams in the nation all had one loss.

Wow, I cant believe no one has said anything about the press conference today. This will make even the most heartless of bastards tear up a little. I love #4. He will be missed. (and I'm a Bears fan.)
