I thought this was going to be his year. That would have made an amazing finale to a great career. Of course, living in New England, we're not allowed to root for other teams.
"What about Brett FAHV-Rah?" - Something about Mary
Yeah, watching that NFC championship loss was painful enough. Everyone seemed to be taking it for granted he was going to give it another go. I haven't seen any news item spread in this state so far so fast since September 01. I've been awake an hour and it seems everyone already knows.
Ugh. Not looking forward to the Aaron Rodgers era.

i dont know. he seemed to play well in that Dallas game this year. favre has made too many dumb mistakes in recent years to win a SB. those are killer in the playoffs.
the guy is one of the best qbs ever for sure, though.

Dude... the last pass Brett Favre ever threw in the NFL was an interception. I really didn't expect him to leave on that one... ???
fitting if you ask me.
fitting? or ironic...
No matter whether you like the guy or not you have to admit that he's been one of the greatest QBs to play the game. The facts are in the stats he's posted.

i agree 100%..
but the last 3 or so seasons were tough to watch (except for last year, when he finally stopped doing stupid shit until the giants game.)
Those last few seasons were awful to watch, but at least Green Bay has McCarthy and not Sherman. Those were more painful to watch than the last few years. The Packers were a contender this year and - until this morning - I thought they'd have a chance at another Super Bowl in the next couple of years. I guess not so much anymore. I think this is another one of life's ways of telling me it's time to get out of Wisconsin.

the pack still has a good (young) defense and a good running game. and a good coach. if rodgers can stay away from the favre-ish mistakes theyll be fine. that division blows.
I would've wanted to see him go out with a Super Bowl win, but this had to happen eventually; he's not getting any younger. It's time for Green Bay to see what Rogers can do, and it's a young man's game. I think he'll be ok.
I'm sorry to say that "OK" isn't going to fill those shoes even if the division blows. That's one tough act to follow.
There's a proven correlation in this state, in which domestic abuse incidents increase on days the Packers lose. I just hope that's only applicable during football season.

Me too, but I'm more specific, prefering 1-AA, (now called something else, can't remember) which actually has play-offs. (I'm a Georgia Southern alum/fan. They have the most 1-AA NCs with 6) ;D

you're right! we have sherman now!! ;D
An instance of one man's trash is another man's treasure?
we're hoping so anyway. i figure having a guy with strong NFL ties, especially with a team like GB, recruits will be clamoring to come to A&M. i'm excited to see how this first season goes.

Brett Favre had an MVP caliber season last year once he finally got a half decent supporting cast, Aaron Rodgers is not even close to an upgrade over him. Brett Favre made that offense look twice as good as it really was last year.
^^^You see the Cowboys game last year? Rodgers was WAAAAAAAAY better than Favre...
To me, you might have ended up getting a Steve Young/Joe Montana San Fran situation had Favre stuck around. It's been obvious at what little glimpses we've gotten of Rodgers that he's naturally better suited to run the new Packers offense than Favre, who is notorious for forcing passes.

He had the most interceptions in the history of the NFL (why wasn't that reported as much as his td record??), so yeah, fitting.
But especially fitting that it was a dumb play with him trying to do too much. As good as he was, I don't think there's another QB that has made as many boneheaded plays as Favre.

I was unaware of that stat, so maybe it is more fitting than I thought at first. Is that career INTs or in a season or what? I mean, he has played many more years than most QBs so his overall count probably would be higher than others... but yeah, he definitely isn't a Tom Brady when it comes to keeping the ball in his possession I suppose...

Rex Grossman is the only one that comes to mind
But I'm also a fan of Rex a tad... he can be a bonehead though

I'm a Cowboys fan and I remember that game. The Cowboys let up when Rogers came into the game. Nobody blitzed and they gave Rogers the short passes.
Brett Favre will be missed. He was one of the greats. Except when he played in Texas Stadium.
