ahhh the memories of coffee shop christmas parties
I actually just picked up two six packs of that last week. There was a problem scanning it at the cash register and, while I knew it was like $15 each for the 6 pack the person asked if I knew what the price was and I told them $8.99 and so I got twelve mad elfs for the price of 6. It was Krogers Christmas present to me
and what a wild night that was...
I am hoping to have a pint of this on NYE. This stuff is wickedy good...and leathal
^^ If they have that at the bar its going to be an interesting night for sure.

The tour of Victory was cool, it was my second tour of a micro brewery . . . . Dogfish Head was the other one. Lot of people in the tour. The Brewery used to be the Pepperidge Farm Factory interestingly enough. They have a nice restaurant and huge bar. Didn't stay for that, but i did bring home a bottle of V-12, which i drank last night and was delicious. Tasted like the the factory smelled, very enjoyable.
tried the porter from Narragansett last night. my gf said "this smells a little like gasoline". i thought it was just okay. i would drink it again, but not go out of my way to buy any...
hmmm.... what should be my beer of choice to ring in the new year tomorrow night...
I'm thinking something that's going to make me forget that I'm not in the Garden getting blown to pieces.
Chimay! I will be drowning my sorrows of not being at MMJ in chimay. We are just going to get drunk @ home and watch the chick-fil-a bowl. Geaux Tigers! Geaux Chimay!

We love some Pisgah beers from WNC. They don't have pics up but here are the descriptions of the 2 that are our favs.
Pisgah Solstice TM (750ml and draft) Pisgah’s year round Belgian. A Tripel ale, this beer contains moderately fruity esters with an alcoholic complexity supported by a soft malt character. This beer is pale gold in color and 9.5% ABV.
Baptista TM (Available every Dec.. Bruisin’ Ales still has some on the shelf) This Belgian Noël takes it’s name from Jan Baptista van Helmont (1579-1644), the Flemish chemist and physician who first discovered CO2 and coined the word “gas” by recognizing the existence of gases distinct from air. This energy luminary was the founder of pneumatic chemistry and also the first to bridge alchemy and early chemistry. Hats off to the man behind the bubble. Proost and Happy Holidays!
I miss Belgium SOOOO much! The place where I actually discovered beer WASN'T crappy bitter water! But really...growing up in AL where 5% is the limit on beer...come on....what else was I SUPPOSED to think?? Sigh....sometimes I REALLY hate this place even more than most days!
No...the referendum hasn't passed...yet. I still hold out hope we can convince them that teenagers AREN'T going to spend $10 on a 4 pack of REALLY good imported 8% alcohol content beer when they can buy a CASE of PBR for $8 and get even drunker FASTER....when that is all they are REALLY interested in Sigh.....but oh well....living in the bible belt where NO ONE has common sense.....
But....please! Send me ya'lls suggestions for decent beers under 5% alcohol content and I'll try to hunt them down! Honestly...the feds busted one of the best liquor/beer distributors in the state and made him take one of the Sweetwater special brews off the shelfs cause it was above 6% alcohol content...HONESTLY!! With all the child rape/molestations/murder going on in this state...all the political corruption and buyoffs....and not to mention gang murders and Meth labs on EVERY corner....GEEZ! We have to deal with THIS crap!
So...send me your best of the best under 5%! I need the distractions!! ;D

One of my favorite all time beers is one that Garageland himself introduced me to (he's an excellent resource when it comes to beer ) is Iron City. I dunno if you can find it down south, it's a PA brewing company but you can find it in a lot of gourmet beer shops here in VA... It's 4.5%
Hmmm...I shall definitely look for it...esp when I am in B'ham...since it IS the Iron City and All..I mean..would seem a WASTE if they DIDN'T have it! Would definitely seem like a SEVERE oversight that I would DEFINITELY need to point out to them doncha think??? LOL!
My wonderful lady got me the best birthday gift this year, Beer of the month club!!!!! ;D Each month I receive 4 different beers from the US and all over the world, three of each kind. Some of them I have never heard of , but they sure are tasty.

Thanks for the tip Strum!! ;D
It was a while since I have been to Alabama but the last time was to see The Hold Steady play at The Bottletree. Great selection of bottles and then I saw Brooklyn Brown and Brooklyn Lager. Oh ... And Sweetwater. Anything with a Sweetwater label. I was sold.
There was another place that we got beer from called Vulcan near UAB - Birmingham. I have heard some sketchy things about it but it was all keg buying sketchy. They have a website too.
Oh yes...I can pretty much get any Brooklyn ales at the grocery store and they have some of them on tap at a lot of the bars/restaurants here in HSV/Madison. Sweetwater has yet to make HSV one of their distribution points...but Steve Farace keeps assuring me we are on the short list and are coming before the end of 2010! I am on the Sweetwater mailing list...and I am with you on that ANYTHING with Sweetwater in front of it being good drinking! ;D ANYTIME I am in ATL, Nashvegas or B'ham I ALWAYS drink Sweetwater! Actually one of my fave wholesale shops in AL carries MOST of their beers (course it's an hours drive from here ) but the state board actually made them pull THREE of the beers from the shelves cause they were 6% or above in alcohol content! What a load of BS! Totally! Oh well...and I LOVE just about ANY Belgian beer and even most US Belgian STYLE ales.....just not the REALLY fruity lambic stuff....it's too sweet for even me! LOL!
My fave beer drinking/bar food hangout is The Vortex in ATL...they have well over 100 diff beers on tap....LOTS of Belgians and almost ANY Sweetwater you can think of even the seasonals....and THE BEST Hamburgers and fried zucchini I have EVER had in my life! And cheep! ;D One of like 5 places within a three hour radius of here that actually has Hoegaarden on tap! YAAY!
Oh .... Thats nice. I'll have to keep that (The Vortex) in mind next time I'm in ATL. We tried to visit the Sweetwater Brewery while ago but they were closed. Maybe it'stime for a return trip there.

I would highly recommend a long weekend trip there...It's one of my FAVE weekend getaway cities! Course it's only about at 3.5 hour drive for me! And SOOO much to see and do! ATL has become the heart of the music biz in the South...next to LA/NYC and MAYBE Chicago (Though I think ATL is giving ChiTown a DEFINITE run for the money if not outright kicking butt right now) ATL is one of THE premeire spots for new hot musical talent right now....and I don't see that stoppiing anytime soon...not so much MY kind of music but there are some surprises too...it's not all Hip Hop and Rap....
PLUS Atl has LOTS of diverse neighborhoods that make it fun to visit...I try to go at LEAST once every 3-4 months....Little 5 points. midtown, Decatur and Perimeter (and Alpharetta/Marietta) are my fave parts of ATL to see but its ALL worth seeing at some point....I can recommend sights/restaurants/bars/hangouts/places to stay/shopping etc if you want to go back...just let me know! I DO love it maybe second ONLY to NOLA! ;D

Can sweetwater be found anywhere around the bonnaroo area of Tennessee or Nashville? I plan on buying it all and bringing it back to Texas after Bonnaroo. Right now i am drinking Franziskaner hefe-weisse. Not bad, i can hang with it. My local Central Market allows you to buy mix and match six packs So I am always mixing it up.

I just tried some of this last night. I guess it would be appropriate since the Steelers won last night. Not bad... It had a nice crisp taste for a light beer. I will have to remember to get it again if I see it.

The Travel Channel is running a Man v. Food episode right now featuring The Vortex, Gladys and Ron's Chicken and Waffles, and Big Pie in the Sky - all in ATL. We'd been before, but after we watched the show yesterday, we headed directly over to The Vortex (we weren't the only ones, the guys in front of us when we got there had obviously just watched it too!).
As for beer, I'm really excited right now because our grocery store just started carrying Sam Adam's Cream Stout! We used to get it when we lived in Knoxville, but then all the Knoxville stores quit carrying it, and we couldn't find it anywhere when we moved here either. Then, a couple of weeks ago, it was just sitting there on the shelf!
