If I've got a bunch of beers I got like two years ago, I'm good to dump them and get new ones, right
As the last two posters said, it kinda depends on what you’ve got. Stouts can last a few years if stored properly, as well as porters. Lagers, saisons, and IPAs generally do not preserve well unless they are stored in a refrigerator, and even then after 2-3 months they won’t be great.
Generally if it's refrigerated and/or higher in alcohol - it lasts a little longer. Most beers don't go "bad", more like just lose some of its flavor.
While yes, beer technically doesn’t go bad, it’s generally not worth it after 18 months (Unless it’s a specific beer meant to be aged). Any fluctuations in heat and light during storage will change and degrade the flavor. Additionally, aluminum cans are generally certified for a 12 month shelf life; they can last a bit longer if stored correctly depending on the liquid, however, the liquid over time can and will degrade the epoxy or BPANI liner and add a metallic aftertaste (There’s a reason why cans are displayed in their cartons top up, handle on the side, think the skinny soda can cartons).
Learned couple of weeks ago when I was in SF that 21st Amendment stopped selling their very delicious black IPA. Do any of you know any other breweries that produce black IPA?

As someone who once got drunk in high school from a case of several-years-old beer my friend found in his parents' basement, I can confirm that the stank taste of old beer makes it a thoroughly unpleasant experience.

Fuck I miss my weekly shoppin’ at my local bottle shop. But I refuse to give them any money after the owners decided to steal their employ tips and keep it fer themselves. Also my last two friends that worked there immediately quit when they discovered this.
I haven’t had the time to try and find a new local shop either, and the ones I do know of are all over 25+ minutes away (first world problems).
