I have no clue who to vote for. This would be my first year voting and I still need to register. Heres what I would like to see if anyone can recomend me a candidate.
environmental conservation pro choice pro gun pro stem cell seperaton of church and state gay mariage allowed as far as Iraq wellnit must be dealt with but I dont necessarily think pulling out asap is the best thing.
whos my candidate? I was originally looking at Ron Paul but I think he's out now..

You can still vote Ron Paul as a write in candidate. A vote of conscience is never a wasted vote. However, if you're asking which of the 'big 3' (McCain, Hillary, Obama) best suits your criteria, I'd say Hillary or Obama. Here's a listing of all the candidates and their 'official' position on the big issues: www.2decide.com/table.htm
To wit: Environment (Kyoto treaty) - H: Pro, O: Undecided, M: Con Abortion (Roe v. Wade) - H: Pro, O: Pro, M: Con Gun Control - H: Pro, O: Pro, M: Con (although does approve of background checks) Stem Cell research - H: Pro, O: Pro, M: Pro Separation of Church & State - not covered in the table, but it's safe to assume all the candidates support the party line (Dems: Pro, Reps: Con) Gay Marriage (Civil Union) - H: Pro, O: Pro, M: Pro (source: Project Vote Smart: tinyurl.com/67fu6w) Iraq - H: Con, O: Con, M: Pro
I'll address each issue and rank candidates as 1-5 point system
environmental conservation - Strongly Dem Obama - 5 Strongly pro env Clinton - 3 Pro env but too many corporate ties McCain - 2 Okay for a Rep but has shifted during primaries
pro choice - Strongly Dem Obama - 5 Clinton - 5 McCain - 2 has changes position to prolife during primaries
pro gun- Neutral, none are for significant changes in gun laws. Dems may reinstitute ban on importing (not sale of) assault rifle so maybe slightly Rep. Obama - 4 Clinton - 4 McCain - 5
pro stem cell - Strongly Dem Obama - 5 Clinton - 5 McCain - 2 changed position during primaries
seperaton of church and state - Strongly Dem Obama - 5 Clinton - 5 McCain - 2 changed position during primaries
gay mariage allowed - Strongly Dem Obama - 5 Clinton - 5 McCain - 2 changed position during primaries
as far as Iraq wellnit must be dealt with but I dont necessarily think pulling out asap is the best thing. Obama - 3 wants out ASAP Clinton - 4 wants out quickly McCain - 4 wants as long as it takes (100years)
Now I've made assumptions as to exactly what your positions are but here's the score. Feel free to adjust them accordingly
Obama - 32 Clinton - 31 McCain - 19
Of course this is based on McCains campaign stances. He does better if you look at his record but he's shifted way right to get the nomination. Choose for yourself which McCain you think will be President
Thanks guys that helps alot. I wasn't too hot on Obama, my friends were telling me alot of bad things about him but he sure seems like a stand up guy to me...I'm gunna have to research him a little bit more and see if he has anything that would repel me.
*i like coconuts, you can break them open they smell like ladies lyin in the sun** *Hell I don't even know where I am** *for now I must sit here and ponder the yonder: The herbivores did well cause their food didn't never run** *We listen, if it feels good We shake** *You made a big impression for a girl of your size, Now I can't get by without you and your big brown eyes.**

Get your facts straight before you vote:
Obama is a religious radical (Muslim, Christian... whatever) running on the Obama/Bin Laden ticket.
Hillary is a Bosnia war vet.... and a robot.
McCain was Ho Chi Minh's personal love slave, and is solely responsible for every death in Southeast Asia to date, including those attributed to the so-called 'bird flu'.

A friend of mine just sent this to me via Facebook. I'm definitely not taking credit for it, it was just passed on to me. I don't know what's true or what's BS.. i really would have preferred if whoever wrote it had sources to back up what they're saying so people could verify.
10 things you should know about John McCain (but probably don't):
1. John McCain voted against establishing a national holiday in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Now he says his position has "evolved," yet he's continued to oppose key civil rights laws.1
2. According to Bloomberg News, McCain is more hawkish than Bush on Iraq, Russia and China. Conservative columnist Pat Buchanan says McCain "will make Cheney look like Gandhi."2
3. His reputation is built on his opposition to torture, but McCain voted against a bill to ban waterboarding, and then applauded President Bush for vetoing that ban.3
4. McCain opposes a woman's right to choose. He said, "I do not support Roe versus Wade. It should be overturned."4
5. The Children's Defense Fund rated McCain as the worst senator in Congress for children. He voted against the children's health care bill last year, then defended Bush's veto of the bill.5
6. He's one of the richest people in a Senate filled with millionaires. The Associated Press reports he and his wife own at least eight homes! Yet McCain says the solution to the housing crisis is for people facing foreclosure to get a "second job" and skip their vacations.6
7. Many of McCain's fellow Republican senators say he's too reckless to be commander in chief. One Republican senator said: "The thought of his being president sends a cold chill down my spine. He's erratic. He's hotheaded. He loses his temper and he worries me."7
8. McCain talks a lot about taking on special interests, but his campaign manager and top advisers are actually lobbyists. The government watchdog group Public Citizen says McCain has 59 lobbyists raising money for his campaign, more than any of the other presidential candidates.8
9. McCain has sought closer ties to the extreme religious right in recent years. The pastor McCain calls his "spiritual guide," Rod Parsley, believes America's founding mission is to destroy Islam, which he calls a "false religion." McCain sought the political support of right-wing preacher John Hagee, who believes Hurricane Katrina was God's punishment for gay rights and called the Catholic Church "the Antichrist" and a "false cult."9
10. He positions himself as pro-environment, but he scored a 0—yes, zero—from the League of Conservation Voters last year.10
Well my friend is a little racist and claims that Obama is muslim who doesn't salute our flag, I wasn't sure whether it was true but I looked it up on wikipedia and it says hes a christian...so I don't believe that. Basically I think he doesn't like Obama because he's black.

^That right there is proof that you shouldn't just take peoples word for it...This thread is a great place to get sources but you should really research each canidate and form your own opinions first...I think too often people get carried away by things that are said in the media....I would like nothing more than to tell you to go vote for my candidate of choice without knowing the facts but it would be irresponsible of me to do so.......
I think it's great you want to educate yourself on the candidates and vote....but listen more to the candiates word for word than the people who have gotten caught up in slander and generalizations

Personally, some of the points are flawed (Pat Buchanan's opinion carries no weight with me, and how exactly does being richer than me make you evil?), but at least they provide references for you to make your own decisions.
I will run on the, " If it doesn't happen within your own borders, stay the quack out of it" agenda. Oh, and people will be able to keep some of their own money too.
when it's all said and done the best canidate for you to vote for is the boz/Troo ticket in 08 can we really trust the big three to do whats right for america?
This word also has a underground meaning once you break it down. Let’s take “Bonn” for example and it actually turns into the word “Bone”. We all know gays use this word to describe the action of when they are fecal fisting their Cuban cabana boy at their sex bath house parties. Now let’s look at Roo, “Roo” is short for “Kangaroo”.So put the full true message together and you get“Bone a Kangaroo

I agree. I'm trying to find someone to vote for because I feel bad for not voting. It just seems pointless though I dislike all of them.
