I think Smurf (meredith) is driving in - I know Spooky has reservations at Marriott - Boz and I are staying at the Days Inn on Canal ($58.00 a night)
Thanks, Meg. Booked the Marriott just in case (can always cancel). Never been to NOLA, so am a little apprehensive. Think it would be good to be with a group. Especially this one ;D
Boz should be proud that we are all celebrating his B-Day in style!
Now looking at flights. Roo'monia is really bad for the wallet!
You're gonna love NOLA! It gets into your blood and there is no other city like it!
Yeah, the airport shuttles are priced each way (the $12 is probably one way) and can take a while cause they stop at every hotel that anyone is staying at. The extra $$ for the cab is worth it to me too.
It looks like you can take the streetcar to the fest too. They would be cheaper, and there is a stop right at the hotel if I'm not mistaken.
Never taken a streetcar before. I think I like that idea. Maybe I'll give it a dry run that thursday. Karma, belle!
we'll be taking the street car - way way easier - but depending on the time of the end of the show - may have to take a hotel shuttle back to the French Quarter
Yeah, the dry run is a good idea. They may not run late enough. The latest schedule I see has the Canal line stopping at 10:38.
A three day pass is only $12 tho' but if the shuttle isn't much more it might be the better option unless they run the streetcars late for the fest which they may do. And streetcars are way cooler and would be quicker. Probably have to wait till closer to time to find out for sure if the schedule will change and I don't know how much in advance you have to buy shuttle tix....
^^^ ya know - I am really not sure - I know it is kinda like Vegoose tho - after the festival ends - there are always shows at the bars and stuff that you can head to
My friends are trying to talk me into going and reading all this isnt helping. I haven't been to new orleans since UGA beat FSU's ass in the Sugar Bowl. HAd a great time, and who can beat The Crowes, KOL, Ben Harper, Galactic, Earl Greyhound, New Orelans Social Club, Dr. John. I haven't listened to Rage or The Pumpkins since middle school, hopefully they can still play a good show. Damn.....not having money sucks!!!
Thanks for the links Meg! I can guarantee there will be NO problem finding live music in NO after the show...just head for the Quarter and start walking around.....stop when you hear something you like. HoB is on Decatur, not too far from the Hotel, they will have a decent band for sure, tho with a big festival in town who knows who? But they always rock on the weekends....Margaritaville is also on Decatur, tho further down, right across from the French Market, they usually have a live band (or two) on the weekends too.....

Funny thing is - Like Bonnaroo where you see members of bands walking aorund checking out music - after the shows at the festival - you will find the same thing down on Bourbon Street and at HoB on Decatur - don't forget Planet Hollywood and The Hard Rock also - no telling what celebreties might come in for the festival
