cheap $27/a day hotel. who can beat that?
does anyone think it's worth it to rent a car? My friend does; i dont.
I wouldn't - I am looking forward to parking the car at the hotel and forgetting about it for the weekend - buses and street cars are your friends in New Orleans

Someone at my job who vacations in NOLA every year tells me parking is nearly impossible to find in the French Quarter anyway.

depends - you gotta know where to park
or be willing to pay. i've never had a problem with parking down there.....finding the car after a zillion wonderfully priced drinks on the second floor of BBC's is a totally different story....ahhh the memories..... back on target....i definitely wouldn't do the rental car. unless you're wanting to go and see the spots that are still fucked up from katrina, there's no reason to waste the money.

Ya know - even if you wanted to see those - (and I know this is horrible) there are Greyline tours of Ward 9 - why drive through it when you can take a tour?
(I did find it interesting that Flips played last year but they were scheduled into a 5:30-6:30 time slot - this year was my first year to see them and I just could not imagine 2 thinsg - 1. seeing them during the daylight and 2. that they would only play for an hour)

This word also has a underground meaning once you break it down. Let’s take “Bonn” for example and it actually turns into the word “Bone”. We all know gays use this word to describe the action of when they are fecal fisting their Cuban cabana boy at their sex bath house parties. Now let’s look at Roo, “Roo” is short for “Kangaroo”.So put the full true message together and you get“Bone a Kangaroo
1) Parking fees will break you in NO unless you have connections that will let you park in hotel PL for free (I used to have those - *sigh* the good ole Pre-Katrina days) $20-$25 a pop and you'll STILL end up walking almost as much as you would anyways.
2) Yeah, they have those tours that will take you through some of the devestated areas, but some of the worst ones are still completely off limits to everyone...even most NOPD can't get in there without special permission. I have heard that some areas literally haven't been touched at all.....
3)You will walk a lot, but the blocks are fairly small, compared to most cities (say, Chicago) esp in the Quarter. I have walked from the Aquarium, down Canal to Decatur to the French Market. It's a little hike but doable (and that was in July!). Now hiking from the hotel to the park would be a bit much......
No way I can afford that after Bonnaroo. Could it possibly be worth it?
I saw that....even with Brennan's catering I don't think so! And the viewing isn't side stage, it's bleachers like at 'Roo.....nah, I think I'll pass.....

well damn - you are right - I am not paying that much and then still have to pay for a hotel I saw that....even with Brennan's catering I don't think so! And the viewing isn't side stage, it's bleachers like at 'Roo.....nah, I think I'll pass.....
^^^ - well I am only 3 hours from NOLA by car anyway - so the idea of the train sounds like fun - I checked the time table and it takes about 4.5 hours - for the price - we would spend that in gas anyway if we drove

;D
then i would say go with the train. i wish i were that close around.
I actually, am deciding on wether or not to move down to NOLA, and using the festival as my "out" and leaving at that point instead of later on in the year. so, if anyone on here knows of any good cheap places to live in that area... or any jobs [restaurants, art] do feel free to let me know!
