i don't know if ill be able to go to bonnaroo this year cause the dates are the same as my graduation
so i was thinking of checking out all good, cause it's pretty close to where i live and i really wanna do a festival this summer.
anyone whose been to both .. can you do a little comparison for me? such as .. how many bands play at once, the security, the crowd, etc. etc... thanks

well i can help as ive been to both. AllGood is amazing. I had the best time at it this past summer. Allgood is alot smaller than bonnaroo. there are only 2 stages. one being the main stage and the other being a side stage with smaller acts. There are never more than 2 bands playing at the same time and noone is ever playing at the same time as the headliners. The Grounds which the festival is held on is seriously one of the most beautiful places ive ever been to - you are surrounded by trees, green, mountains, etc etc. its awesome looking. Security is pretty lackluster. Its a free for all basically. The crowd is amazing, i met so many awesome, nice people at allgood - more than any other fest than ive ever been at.. in general its a peaceful, crazy, funfilled weekend. in a nutshell, i wont miss another allgood if i can help it. it was the best time. I will do whatever it takes to get me there again this year!

Unlike Bonnaroo allgood is VERY hilly, so the same walk can take a lot more energy..
yeah good points. i got there on friday afternoon and we parked, then trekked our stuff (i recommend bringing a wagon or some sort of bungee cord thingy to carry your stuff with you) to the very very closest you could get to the center of the fest.

Either one. there isnt really a strict tent only section that i saw.. there are spots you CANT get a car to though
most people parked by their cars but lots did not. i did not, b/c we got there pretty late and it was pretty much a free for all. noone directing you wear to go..just find a place and pop your tent...we just had to walk up this MAJOR bummer of a hill - so be prepared to do a little or alot of hiking depending on where your camped out...nothin too bad tho.
For those considering Allgood, you WILL NOT be dissapointed in your decision. It was teh best festival I have been to. I live right next to bonnaroo and go every year, but if I had to drive to roo or allgood, I would defintiely pick allgood to drive to.
Like becca said, it is basically a free for all when it comes to where you park/camp. Most of the grounds allow for camping next to your car, but there are quite a lot of people that get pretty creative as to where they camp. There are plenty of places to camp that your can not park next to. My best advise, buy the Thursday night early entry ticket and get there as early as possible on Thursday. We got there about 7 PM on Thursday evening and waited in line for 3.5 almost 4 hours before we rolled through the ticket gate. The crowd comes early. I heard that this past summer 85% of the festival attendees were there on Thursday night.
I personally like allgood better than bonnaroo for the overall festival experience. So far, for me, it has been the best festival of all. Roo offers so many bands on so many stages that you will always find something you like to listen to. Unfortunately, that allows for one to not get to experience all that a festival has to offer to the senses.
At allgood, you may find yourself with a couple of hours to blow before a show you want to see comes on, this gives you time to walk around and meet folks, hang out, and enjoy the festival.
I also do not think that allgood is as much a test of endurance that bonnaroo is. Especially if your camped in BFE at roo. You actually have time to chill at allgood without having to bust it all over the place and wear yourself out.
I would say allgood is actually better than roo, overall!

chris pretty much nailed it. if i could only pick one word to describe bonnaroo compared to other festivals, it would be "endurance". if i could only pick one word to describe all good, it would be "freedom".
from the moment i got on line thursday night until i left sunday afternoon, i don't think i saw one scenario of a festival-goer being told they COULDN'T do something. its like an unspoken agreement between the organizers and the attendees: they take care of the bands and basic services like food/water/waste disposal and everything else, the community takes care of itself.
you park wherever you want to park. you camp wherever you want to camp. you come and go as you please, with a very minimal security check going into the main stage...if you aren't carrying a machete, you're "all good!" fire works? all day and all night, whenever the people who brought them wanted to set them off (bring ear plugs if you're a light sleeper).
isn't such a lack of authority a concern, you ask? none. at. all. i saw far more acts of aggression and overall negative vibes at bonnaroo this past year than i did at all good, proportionate to the size of both fests. the crowd is incredibly chill, and in my opinion, is still composed mainly of hippies whereas more mainstream festivals like bonnaroo i've noticed the crowd diversifying more recently.
nights are far cooler than bonnaroo and you will want some warm clothes. there's definitely a lot of dew and wetness in the mornings and late nights, and it rained lightly on friday and heavily on sunday. a LOT less dust than bonnaroo, but a lot more rocks too (i would not recommend sandals, and you will definitely want padding for the ground for sleeping on)
the hills are a downside but i look at it as a wash: at bonnaroo you walk around a LOT...between stages, vendors, bathrooms, campsite (and if you're far away, good luck). at all good, you basically can walk into the main area in the early afternoon and since both stages are right there, as well as food vendors, you don't have to get up at all if you don't want to for the entire day.
Maybe I'll throw myself to the dogs, but my back's not to the wall Maybe I'll lay some bricks for the man, but the days just aren't that long So if I settle back and chill will I see far enough to feel the angel's dream? I thought it was the Story of the World!

Exactly at that price and with these reviews how could you not go? I'm making my list of time off to request after the new year right now. And it will include allgood.
