Sounds like those of us here in Colorado will have something to come home to after the Roo............(hopefully)
This was taken from the Rocky Mountain News website:
RUMORS AND HEARSAY: The Mile High Music and Arts Festival for July isn't dead, even if it won't be held in City Park as planned. Watch for it to show up at Dick's Sporting Goods park, with Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers and the Dave Matthews Band already nailed down, along with a bunch of younger bands and other veterans. . . .
I've been waiting for them to have something besides soccer events down at Dick's. This place is about a ten minute drive from my place, and mind you, NOTHING is a ten minute drive when you live out near the airport, other than the airport, of course!

I was just listening to KCUV and one of the DJs was talking about Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. He said that they will definitely be coming through Denver this summer but he couldn't announce any of the details yet, but when they could make an announcement that it would be huge. He also mentioned that one of Petty's special guests this year would be Steve Winwood.

here's a piece from another article I found today on DenverPost.com:
the Mile High festival will have a decidedly more mainstream lineup, similar to the Austin City Limits Music Festival and the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. No acts have yet been booked, but don't be surprised if future festival announcements include names such as the Dave Matthews Band, Wilco, John Mayer, Kings of Leon, the White Stripes or Bob Dylan - all favorites at Austin and Bonnaroo, a festival in Tennessee.

Updated info.......
After a major setback in location, the Mile High Music and Arts Festival will go on in July, but at the complex of soccer fields that surround Dick's Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City instead of City Park.
Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers will be one of the festival's headliners, and Steve Winwood — on tour this summer with Petty — will also play the two-day event, which could draw up to 50,000 people per day on July 19-20.
AEG Live will announce in the next month that the festival will take place in the fields surrounding the Commerce City stadium — taking over the 24 full-size, fully lit grassy fields to the south and east of the facility. The promoter is not planning to use the stadium. AEG Live will likely go forward with its original plan of two free-standing main stages and three smaller stages, allowing for 50 acts to perform over two days and nights.
Morris, who came up with the idea for the festival, would not confirm the news, but he did say: "If in fact the festival will be at the soccer complex next to the stadium, that's great because it's an amazingly beautiful area with lots of grass — not unlike Coachella and its polo fields. It's very pretty over there, as it faces the city and the mountains."
Wow, that's interesting. There's definitely nothing "pretty" about Commerce City or the immediate surroundings, but the fields do look pretty great and the mountain views are great at times.

That's funny, I was thinking the same exact thing about Commerce City when I read that too
From the way it sounds so far, I'm guessing that they'll run it similar to Vegoose. I read somewhere else that they will have music going on from like noon until 10:30 p.m. If that's the case, hopefully they'll have some late night shows going on afterwards. I'm thinking they could use Cervantes/Quixote's for late night, but you never know.
Guess we'll have to wait until they make it official......

Still searchin for new info, but haven't heard anything lately. I did see this website that confirms the dates as July 19-20 and says that it is definitely a GO.
Man, I can't wait to see who they get for this thing!!!

From the Rocky Mountain News yesterday........
RUMORS AND HEARSAY: Watch for a news conference Tuesday morning to announce the full lineup for the Mile High Music and Arts Festival, set for the fields at Dick's Sporting Goods Park in July. As we've previously reported, Tom Petty, Steve Winwood and Dave Matthews are the headliners. . . .
