I have noticed alot of you changing your minds now that information for the Rothbury Festival has been released. I am having a little trouble making up my mind for this, so I decided to do a poll to see what you all think.

Came up with a formula that some of you sitting on the fence might find useful:

1) Take each lineup and break up the artists into 4 groups: Must See, Like to See, Better than Nothing, or Really Don't Care.

2) Assign a point value for each artist in each group: Must See = 3, Like to See = 2, Better than Nothing = 1, Really Don't Care = 0.

3) Total up the number of points. We'll call this The Bang.

4) Get the price of the event ticket. We'll call this The Buck.

5) The Bang, divided by The Buck, gives you your Bang for the Buck index. Higher is better.

Here's my Rothbury numbers:
*** (10)
** (9)
* (9)
Points: (3*10) + (2*9) + (1*9) = 77
Bang/Buck (VIP) : 77 / $475 = .16
Bang/Buck (GA) : 77 / $245 = .31

And here's my Bonnaroo numbers:
*** (3)
** (12)
* (19)
Pts: (3*3) + (2*12) + (1*19) = 52
Bang/Buck (VIP) : 52 / $600 = .09
Bang/Buck (GA) : 52 / $245 = .21

No, but I suppose you could double the point value for each headliner, since these acts are (presumably) 'conflict-proof'.

I think I've decided. Since Rothbury is on July 4th wknd, i will def be able to take time off, and that gives me a little longer to scavenge the money for tix...and if i get on early bird for 200 bucks thats alot cheaper than roo..and only 8 hours away...

Rothbury. The lineup is too good. I love Roo, and i've never said it yet...but imo they sold out. come on...Metallica? Kanye? Good acts, dont get me wrong...but damn...
With the Rothbury lineup, and the expected crowd that will show up, i'm assuming everything will be 'friendly'?

It's Bonnaroo for me, Michigan is too distant. But I love that Rothbury lineup alot. They have many great bands with no metal or rap.

At this point, barring any spectacular additions coming from Bonnaroo, I'm really leaning towards Rothbury, which sucks because most of the people I'm looking forward to hang out with are still going to Roo (not that there's anything wrong with that).

Still, I'm holding off anything definite until at least next Wednesday, most likely a few weeks after that.
