I saw Pearl Jam at the Newport Music Hall in Ohio in March of 1992 and then again a few months later at Lollapalooza at the Blossom Music Center, also in Ohio. They were great both times but I didn't like their second album as well as their first and never felt like seeing them again.

Palomino in Montreal? how was it like organization wise?
It was organized pretty well for a first time festival. They let people bring outside food and drink as long as it was sealed and non-alcoholic. Also, if you got a drink and brought the resuable cup back, you got a partial refund. I don't think it sold super well though (they announced a week before they would let you bring one friend with your ticket) so I hope that it manages to survive another year because I had a super fun time.

did you see gesa the day before
I couldn't make it that day unfortunately but I really wanted to catch him. I know some people who did, and they said it was pretty cool
I only saw some of the videos from opening night of the Beat tour (Adrian Belew, Tony Levin, Danny Carey and Steve Vai doing shit from 80's KC - Discipline, Beat, Three of a Perfect Pair) but it looked and sounded pretty cool. I'll watch more of it this weekend as more shows happen and get uploaded, but it was great seeing Danny Carey playing Bill Bruford. He said he grew up on KC so he knew lots of the material but not necessarily how to play it. Nobody can play Bruford exact because he's the best there ever was in rock. But it was cool seeing Danny with a couple of dragon drums in his kit. Bill and Danny used clear ones, but
Setlist looks pretty good overall but I didn't want to spoil it for those who know who will be seeing a night or two on the tour.
Neurotica - Beat 1982 Neal and Jack and Me - Beat 1982 Heartbeat - Beat 1982 Sartori in Tangier - Beat 1982 Dig Me - Three of a Perfect Pair 1984 Model Man - Beat 1982 (first time ever played in any capacity) Man with an Open Heart - Beat 1982 Industry - Three of a Perfect Pair 1984 Larks Tongues in Aspic Part III - Three of a Pair 1984
Set 2 Waiting Man - Beat 1982 The Sheltering Sky - Discipline 1981 Sleepless - Three of a Perfect Pair 1984 Frame by Frame - Discipline 1981 Matte Kudasai - Discipline 1981 Elephant Talk - Discipline 1981 Three of a Perfect Pair - Three of a Perfect Pair 1984 Indiscipline - Discipline 1981
Encore Red - Red (1974) Thela Hun Ginjeet - Discipline 1981
I like the second set and encore best on paper. I'm not that big of a fan of Beat and at least the beginning of the show leaned heavy on that. But Dig Me, Industry and Larks Part III all rule.
I was supposed to go to the Houston show next weekend, but I have to go back to Florida the week after and move a bunch of things there and back to New Orleans. So I don't think I'm going to be able to make it.

Finally made my first trip to England, and centered it around seeing Florence + the Machine perform "Lungs" with a 60-piece orchestra, an album which I may have played more than any other since it came out. I attended the original Lungs tour, which was magical for me, but this was more than about replicating my nostalgia. These were fresh new arrangements, and even "Kiss With a Fist" was turned into a fun jig with a fiddle. Figured the extra time would be filled with the hits from the other albums, but instead, it was the B-sides from Lungs. Honestly an all-time life experience. (since it was part of the BBC Proms series, I also attended an opera based on A Midsummer Night's Dream, which kinda ruled)
Oh, the record stores there sell like 20 different books about Oasis, and I get why 19 of those are necessary, but 20?

I ended up with a free ticket to Black Pumas last night so I decided to send it despite only knowing Colors from the background music at work. Pleasantly surprised how good they were, but I also understand why they don't work for a lot of people. While technically they sounded near perfect, no rushing, bad notes or out of pitch singing, there were long stretches of time where the songs they were playing were either boring or just not good. The entire crowd (half the capacity of Rabbit Rabbit, 1/3 of which left before the show was over) would talk during the boring parts, more so then I think I've ever seen. I think some of those issues will be solved when they have a few more albums to pull songs from, because the highlight songs were definitely highlights. Saying Eric Burton is a good singer is an understatement. Overall I would not have paid the $60+ fees asking price for the show, but I'm glad I got to go!
do not miss Magdalena Bay if they tour anywhere near you. idc if youve seen them before or caught a messier set from when they first started touring. They completely revamped their live set for Imaginal Disk and its absolutely fucking amazing. the crowd had so much energy too

Pulp played Joyriders last night so I’m a happy camper.
Then they drop Misshapes, Like a Friend, Monday Morning and a brand new down tempo song for the first time tonight. I love this band.
Look, I know Coachella 2012 was 12 years ago and mostly people who'd never heard of Pulp, but I don't remember Mis-Shapes going that hard as it did last night. Jarvis's birthday bash tonight is gonna be a time!
