sorry for the multiple postings but it was such a great emotional night. i was right in front of the middle amp, aka trey's bruno amp, he's standing in front of. and im finally at 1000!
its weird. the dude i was with didnt have that much fun. he was let down cuz he talked himself into phish reuniting or whatever...i had fun tho
i wasnt expecting them to play but i won't lie and say i hadn't hoped they did obviously. i just didnt want to have a let down. i get down around the garden and all the people i talked to said they heard from sources it was going down. someone said 2 songs ph and then 6 songs ph w/ others. definately figured something was up when low and behold there is trey's distinct bruno amp. much the conversation as i said earlier. just seeing them together in one place was meaningful enough. also trey looked good and healthy which is also a huge positive.
Few thoughts here...gonna try not to write a book on this one....
1. Let me get the negative out of the way....the Phish thing was total BS....they were all there...they should have played....seeing them, and having them not play, kinda took away from the finale which ctually would have been awesome if I could have stopped myself from thinking..."but...but...but...the REAL Phish are here!"
2. Highlight of the night (for me) hasn't really been mentioned....the Jazz set that Page was a part of just blew everything else away....although....Doug E Fresh rocked it pretty hard too....that beat box vs. drum battle was ridiculously bad ass.
3. When the two d-bags from Q104 annonced the nominees for Song of the Year, I thought perhaps the catagory would be more accuratly titled "Song of the Year that these two idiots from Q104.3 have never even heard, let alone played."
4. Jimmy Vivino is bad ass...[Edit: and...everything else I said about it originally is probably dumb and wrong...]
5. It was fun to see Matt Miller do his thing....we went to high school together. He really did drop out to follow Phish around...so unlike the Q104 guys, his little speech seemed really heartfelt and genuine.

yes, the beat box vs. drum was definitely one of my favorites.
