All-Star Concert and Awards Show Being Held: May 7, 2008
NEW YORK—The Jammy Awards will return to The Theater at Madison Square Garden on May 7, 2008. This year’s ceremony and all-star concert will mark the seventh installment of the The Jammys, and will feature a special Lifetime Achievement Award presentation to jamband giant, Phish.
Produced by Relix Magazine, Jambands.com, and Peter Shapiro, The Jammys has become one of New York City’s premiere events and one of the top grassroots music events in the world, hosting countless historic, once-in-a-lifetime musical moments, and drawing international acclaim for pairing the stars of the improvisational music scene with leading artists from across the musical spectrum.
The performers for this year’s concert, as well as this year’s award nominees will be announced in the coming weeks.
One of the most popular American bands in rock history, Phish inspired new generations of musicians eager to put their own stamp on improvisational music. Like the Grateful Dead, Phish crisscrossed its way across the U.S. and world during their 20-year career, routinely selling out tour after tour, before disbanding in 2004. Previous Jammys Lifetime Achievement Award winners include B.B. King, The Meters, The Grateful Dead, Buddy Guy, Steve Winwood and Frank Zappa.
“We are extremely proud to present our Lifetime Achievement Award to Phish,” says Jammys Executive Producer and Co-Creator Peter Shapiro. “Few bands have meant as much to the improvisational music community as they have, so celebrating their career is something that is a natural thing for us to do.”
Critically acclaimed for creating once-in-a-lifetime collaborations between the likes of John Mayer and Buddy Guy, Ryan Adams and Phil Lesh, Sinead O’Connor and Burning Spear, Béla Fleck & the Flecktones with McCoy Tyner and Savion Glover, Travis Tritt and the Disco Biscuits, and Peter Frampton and Guster, The Jammys was founded as an alternative to mainstream award shows. The Jammys is a celebration of the best in live improvisational music performance that pairs the brightest lights on the jam music scene with stars from the pop, rock, reggae, gospel and jazz realms.
Tickets go on-sale at Noon EST on March 20 via Ticketmaster and at the Madison Square Garden Box Office. For more information go to Jammys.com
i just found there big cypress show the other nite.i had it once but it was stolen.i have been listening to it for 3 days straight.water in the sky gives me goosebumps
Not to be a buzzkill....but at past Jammys the Lifetime Achievement winner has not always played...or been alive.
Plus...although it's always been worth it....the Jammys is one of the worst shows there is for announcing acts and then having them not show up....including one year when Mickey Hart was announced as the host....and didn't make it.
I was heartbroken three Jammys ago....Dickey was on the bill as were Warren and Derek....I thought we were gonna get the Allmans re-union....didn't happen....I was bummed....now I just go and take whatever they give me...no expectations.
Did get Derek, Dickey, Susan, and Solomon Burke that year though...that was awesome. and Dickey, Warren and Winwood.
If you can go....just go....it's a great time....it's like a whole Bonnaroo crammed into 5 hours....with climate control.

I doubt we would see a reformation simply to play at the Jammys . . . but if that is the case, I also have a lifetime achievement award to present to the members of Phish.
Maybe I'll throw myself to the dogs, but my back's not to the wall Maybe I'll lay some bricks for the man, but the days just aren't that long So if I settle back and chill will I see far enough to feel the angel's dream? I thought it was the Story of the World!
its a shame that no one really saw or heard the USTORM benefit aside from people in chicago, because that show was the poop and should def win. I reccomend everyone gets their hands on that poop. I also hope Cheese wins for tour just because it was their last and the rest of the choices are kinda weak.
here is why you should listen to USTORM and why it should win
Musician legend: BB = Brendan Bayliss (Umphrey’s McGee), Andy = Andy Farag (UM), Jake = Jake Cinninger (UM), Ryan = Ryan Stasik (UM), Kris = Kris Myers (UM), AL = Al Schnier (moe.), JA = Jeff Austin (Yonder Mountain String Band), Aron = Aron Magner (Disco Biscuits), Marc = Marc Brownstein (DB), Jen = Jennifer Hartswick (Trey Anastasio Band), Ron = Ron Johnson (KDTU, New Monsoon), Josh = Josh Quinlan (Ray’s Music Exchange)
BISCUITS TO RELEASE JAMMY NOMINATED TRACTORBEAM SHOW FOR FREE ON ARCHIVE.ORG!
To celebrate the 2008 Jammys nomination for eMusic Download of the Year, the Disco Biscuits will release for free the Tractorbeam show from the Chameleon Club in Lancaster, PA on June 26, 2007.
Tractorbeam was conceived as a different concert experience...something more akin to a DJ club set than a traditional rock concert. As Tractorbeam, The Disco Biscuits play completely instrumentally and reinvent their songs by removing the vocal sections.
In addition, the band has decided to release yet another Tractorbeam show from the vault! Look for the August 30, 2007 show, also from the Chameleon Club in Lancaster, on Livedownloads.com.
