I can't believe my Pistons blew that game. In all honesty I think we will handle the Sixers in this opening round but aside from that I don't have much hope. The team has nearly become lethargic aside from Jason Maxiell. Rasheed only shows up once in every three games and has no desire to apply himself to max his capabilities. Billups hasn't been Mr. Big Shot in three years. Aside from that I plan on seeing a Lakers vs. Celtics finals which will be exciting who knows how much I'll get to see with Bonnaroo going on at that time. Not a great chance i'll be checking out the games in the cinema tent. I'd really like to see the Hornets do well.
Good luck to the Pistons I hope something catches their attention because if they don't make the conference finals expect a major blow up of the team.
Buuuut, I do have to correct one thing. Ben left because $12 mil/year wasn't enough for him....they didn't trade him.
lol you should share your secret.... i know a few people that would love to have that immunization. ;D
and your are correct sir. kinda. it wasnt a trade. my bad for misusing the word. but i think it had alot more to do with the fact that flip saunders basketball is not the type of basketball ben wanted to be a part of. to take a championship defense and make it a joke. trying to win with chauncey scoring 25 points a night and hitting big shots. this pistons team should have been a dynasty on par with any of the great dynasties but saunders had other ideas. it was just poor decisions by management and poor coaching. i dont blame him for leaving. millions of dollars probably had something to do with it too though.
Hate to burst your bubble (eh, no I don't) but the Pistons had the best defense in the league this year. Ben wasn't a team player by the end of his tenure.

i wouldnt look past the sixers if i were you. this squad has been on a roll pretty much the whole second half of the year (since they traded korver, giving Thad Young some PT). if they hit shots, they are VERY VERY tough to beat. They D up, and run as well as anyone in the league. and they won game 1 with Iggy having a terrible game (especially terrible 1st half). this will be a series. i expect a beat down by det on wed, however. If they dont, they are in trouble, imo. philly will be insane on friday night.

Philly's a bad matchup for Detroit. If they get by Philly I expect them to have an easier time against Orlando.
Btw, I'll be in Pittsburgh on Sunday watching the Pirates vs Phillies. I'm really only going to check out the stadium, but you can bet your ass I'll be rooting big time for the Pirates now!

Not by any means would I overlook the Sixers they along with Utah always give us problems. Back in Detroit though the general consesus is that if the Pistons are to lose we want it to be Willie Green and not Lebron James. I also have to agree with you if game two gets away from the Pistons the series will spell serious trouble for the Pistons.

luckily for us..it wont be willie green..it will be lou williams...but your point is well taken. i would hate lebron too, if i was a det fan. he absolutely made them his Ann Coulter last year. he looks on his way to doing it again this yr.
well best d in the league or not its not the championship d of old. and i dont care what the stats are there are a few teams that are much tougher to deal and shut teams down much more then detroit. a little bit of that flip saunders, leagues best defense and a couple of 3 throws from mr big shot and it would have been over. losing a 20 point lead @ home in the playoffs doesnt = great defensive team in my book. but then again you and i have never been reading the same book.
and id be happy to see detroit lose to wallace or okur. although i dont see the det/utah matchup happening. id give up chauncey and sheed to have those 2 back
well to me the playoffs is a new season. regular season means next to nothing aside from homecourt. and since saunders got here the pistons have had a very hard time closing out games and the series against mediocre teams. in game 1 of the playoffs detroit looked about as far from championship d as ive ever seen.
i dont know if ben is worth 14 or not. the cavs think hes worth 15.5 mil. then again they are paying wally szczerbiak 12 mil.... wtf is that all about? but 14 for ben is a much better deal then 10 for mr. missed shot. and im sure that we can atleast agree that ben would be a much better deal then sheed making 13 million.

Detroit has struggled in the early rounds of the playoffs most years. But Flip definitely does have a lot to prove, so you won't see me talking him up too much.
I have serious problems with Sheed, but I'd take him and of course Chauncey over Ben all day. I loved Ben, but he's getting older and has lost the superior athleticism that he got by on. He's a huge offensive liability and isn't the rebounder or shot blocker he once was. Detroit lucked out big time when Ben left. Now they'll have the money to keep guys like Maxiell and Amir Johnson when their contracts are up.

Wow you'd give up Chauncey and Sheed for Ben Wallace and Okur! You are entitled to your own opinion but I can't believe there is still a piston fan out there who would like to have Ben back. Dumars pulled a smart move giving Ben the lowball price and saying take it or leave it because he knew Ben wouldn't take that contract when Chicago was offering way more. Re-signing Ben would have hampered our team for years. Now that we finally have some future in Stuckey, Afflalo, Amir and Maxiell we have cap space to keep them around. I appreciate everything Ben did while he was here but we let him walk at precisely the right time.

The more i see the Hornets the more i'm impressed. Their athleticism and high tempo offense remind me of a college team, and they can actually clamp down on D. That Jason Kidd trade for Dallas was a bad move, i think they would have been better off getting Ben Wallace and The Cavs getting Kidd. Theres no Chris Paul in the East, or Steve Nash, Derron Williams, and Tony Parker. Kidd isn't agile enough to stay in front of these guys, and the Mavs are paying for it. I think they'd be doing better right now with Devin Harris, Kidd matches up much better in the East imo.
The Hornets man, beating the snot outta the Mavs tonight, impressed me....a fan. I would have never of thought a victory of that magnitude was in store. I was expecting to win the series in 7, but now all we have to do is steal 1 win in Dallas, and we can end this thing in the NOLA in 5. That would be huge for such a young, inexperienced playoff team, cause I see the Spurs-Suns going at least 6, making fatigue a little more of a factor. If Spurs-Suns go 7, and Hornets win in 4 or 5, they will win round 2 as well.

I think the Suns/ Spurs game will go to 7, which does suck if the Hornets win in 4/5. It'll be easier for them to beat my Suns [if they step it up and win] than if we won in say, 6.

don't expect 7...i'm going to say 5, giving the suns a win in the next game. don't get me wrong, i have respect for the suns(besides shaq ). nash is great, stoudemire can put up the numbers, and if bell gets hot behind the 3pt line, its going to be tough.
however, the spurs have proved in both games that they're veterans, and don't have to fold just because they're down 15. even when they're playing their short team, the spurs' defense is just too good for the suns. parker can always find the seam to the inside, and don't expect manu to miss too many shots. and when we do have timmy in, even against shaq he can score 40 points(re: first game).
I actually, am going to say that I think it'll be Boston and NO in the finals. NO is just amazing right now.
While i am super impressed by NO and i think Chris Paul is the best ball handler in the NBA, I don't see them beating LA. Kobe wants it more than most in the league, and he finally has the cast again to do it. I feel Kobe is the second most capable of carrying a team on his back, behind Lebron, then Paul. Kobe will probably be able to slow Paul down too.

this is true, i guess there will be quite the showdown in the west. :]
