I like the Bazooka too, Prophet...and the green sky one, Hoodoo.
Ratskrad, that altered landscape looks very kewl. Reminds me of some early morning during the Civil War or something. Before any fight when the calm of dawn is the only solace. Nice to know that the morning you portrayed would lead to great music and not cannon fire.
And artist to artist, I think the latter would do better with a different font. The stage lighting effect is excellent; I wish I could manage that.

I agree. I couldn't find any that I liked with it - kinda like voting in a presidential election. ha! I'd also prefer to have the font curved inside the concentric circles of light but I don't have an editing program that can manage it.

If you would like, I can send you a zipped file of fonts (Windows). I wish I could tell you how many there were; I'd have to say near seventy to hundred. I downloaded most of them from free sites over six years ago.
I don't think my creations would look that good without a kewl font accompanying it.

I never pass up a gift offer. ;D I'll pm you with my e-mail.
I go to simplythebest.net/fonts/ when I don't have one I like, but still didn't come up with one I was happy with. Thank you for the help - I welcome/encourage all comments and suggestions, but especially the critical ones.

Last year there was a post or topic about the bonnaroo symbol. Does anyone remember that? What is the name of the 3 circle symbol? Any help would be much appreciated!
Cheers!
Doing some digging via www.wikipedia.com led me to the obvious reference to Led Zeppelin's fourth album.
It was John Bonham's symbol and he might of intended it to be a Christian reference to the Trinity. He may also have been referring to a represention of a child and her parents. (Does Schoolhouse Rock's Three is a Magic Number come to mind? Maybe Blind Melon's cover will do it)
The symbol is also related to <uggh> mathematics in the form of Johnson's theorem...
In the end, however, the correct term is Borromean rings stemming from an Italian family's coat of arms from around the twelfth century CE. However, there are allusions to the symbol as far back as the Vikings with their funky Valknut.
On the otherhand maybe, like John Bonham, these Bonnaroo guys just like beer...
Btw, here are a few designs I came up with for the logo contest...
Ballantine Ale was Hunter S.'s favorite beer. Remember in the Fear and Loathing Book, when he's in the desert and he's like "I ordered a Ballantine Ale. A rare beer that can be found between San Jose and (Some other place.) They served it up fast and cold." Something like that. I just got excited cuz I recognize the ale's name and logo. Sorry for the off-topic remark. Anyone else remember that?
Times almost up. I (again) submitted a design. Last year I won tickets and hope to this year too. Although last year's design was only an inpiration and they did not use mine as is. It was the Signpost one, (mine against a sunset with nice oranges and yellows).

I might post mine later.
Please do. I've been trying to track down past winners to get an idea on their backgrounds. I'm not a trained artist at all. I just enjoy designing and creating graphics usually as an addendum to my software engineering. But so far, every client couldn't care less. Oh well.
Any knowledge as to which year they initiated this contest? I wonder how many overall designs were created by fans & utilized by Bonnaroo.
Were you even notified that your design would be edited?
I don't mind adapting mine (if I even win <ha ha>) but I might have some reservations if they went off and did it themselves.
well they do say that once you enter it if they want to use it it is theirs... so that would give them full creative control over what to do with it. i mean i am with you totally, but yeah.

Good point. I guess I would just like to be involved in the decision making process if & when changes are made. I feel I could definately polish up a couple images and would appreciate their input on how to do it.
Of course, this is all contingent on winning this contest. And with excellent trippy competition from the likes of you and others, that seems a difficult feat.
cause i know the guy up there that had the signpost win was not on the bonnaroo website page as one of lastyears winners. so is there a set number they take?
oh and thanks for the complement on my work.
i wish i would have worked on them longer.. i tend to procrastinate things so i just worked on them this week, i need to learn to not do that haha.

I know my name is not there. Last year it was up as an Honorable Mention. I could post the email from Superfly if needed but that wont really do anything as I could "fake" it if I wanted. They said my idea and the other honorable mention were combined to make the shirt above. Last Year they had about 5-6 "official" winners.
And now, they only told me they changed the design, weeks later I asked to see what it looked like and they finally offered me a look at it but I was not given any say in it at all.
Side note, I like the Guitar. I thought about something like that mixed into one of my designs but decided against it. Maybe we should all just sell our designs anyway.
Hey guys I noticed alot of graphic and computer type of work being submitted, I already submitted mine however it was not of that medium. I guess I'm just Old School when it comes to this type of thing. Is the graphic type the preferred. Anybody? Love the Ganesha design!!

yeah i saw your shirt on there and your design is kinda what inspired my ganesh signpost idea
but you still got tickets for honorable mention?
i am just hoping for tickets as that is the only way i would be able to go seeing as i cant afford to buy them
but yeah i mean a lot of these designs are pretty good and i think if they dont win it would still be cool to make shirts or posters or whatever to sell.

Boy, that would be an idea but then we begin to run into that nasty problem of copyright infringment.
For me, I do graphic work not for money but because I enjoy it. I've designed dozens of things and just given them away; I feel art should be accessible not just profitable (though I have to admit it would be nice).
But any designs utilized for stickers or t-shirts would most certainly infringe on Superfly Productions and AC Entertainment. They already warn of it on their site:
