Maybe we'd be better off without the Glow in the Dark. If Kanye stripped it down a bit and collaborated with some of his buddies we might be in for a better show. Who knows though...
The one thing I loved about all the Flaming Lips effects and stunts was the complete lack of pomposity associated with them. I gave up on 'serious' effects-laden shows after seeing Electric Light Orchestra's spaceship in 1976.

i'd just as soon watch the stage for Kanyes show minus Kanye...actually if you take the Kanye stage and put just about anyone else up there, i'd say its a phenomonal idea and probably an amazing show. I'm a sucker for lasers, lights and awesoem stage shows. But i'll probably skip the set.

I would considering seeing Kanye's show if he's not in it, the same goes for Metallica's show.
I read through the reviewers blog...not impressed. Not saying Kanye's show won't be over the top or off putting to non fans, but this dude's taste in no way lines up with my own. He gave Taylor Swift a massively positive review among other things...

the clips on youtube are not very impressive. Of course it is Youtube, but I expected the stage set up to be a little bit more impressive. It's just a big videoscreen, and a platform in the middle of the stage that raises up. And he has like fake hills on stage, and some Orbs.
After seeing both Tool and Daft Punk last year, this one just doesn't look that good to me.

I think the mere fact that he has a story, setup, lighting, muppet creatures, plan, and creativity invested in a stage show makes him one of the more appealing rap shows to see. Whereas most rap shows are usually a guy just rhyming on stage, this will be an experience and from what i've read and seen......it's going to be exciting.
Also.....we still don't know if Kanye will be playing in the dark. It almost seems like he has to.....but it's not confirmed yet I believe.
Actually, a negative Kanye review is fairly rare. His metacritic scores back that notion up, weighted scores of 88, 85 and 79 for each of his albums respectively.
theres just as many good reviews as there is bad reviews just googling (is that right?) glow in the dark tour. i guess its a take it or leave it situation with his show.
For me personally, the success Kanye's show will have more to do with the availability of party favors more so than his actual performance. I plan on catching the show, whether or not I stay for the whole thing is another matter.

Checked some videos out on Youtube. Looks pretty cool to me. Sounds like just some jaded reviewer who didn't like him to begin with
agreed. i cant stand kanye but the review sounds like someone that came in with complete and total preconceived notions of what a pompous ass kanye is and was determined not to like it. i've never heard anything but positive reviews of his live shows for people that like him at all.
As my Inebriated buddy walks out of the Porto, he yells out, "Dude...I love this place...bonnaroo thinks about everything...they even put beer holders next to the toilet!"
Had to break it to him that that was the urnal. Good times good times!
Girls only like that song because they think its about them. My girlfriend is the same way. "OoOoh, I'm a small town girl in a lonely world!" That song sucks as bad as "who let the dogs out?"
I don't mean to offend anybody, I've just had a rough day and thought Journey to be the appropriate punching bag.
I think thats the only song you can totaly lipsync into a hair brush as cheesy as possible and still be ok with everyone around you! Hit the shoulder swing and all!!!

No you're quite right...that songs B-L-O-W-S. Generally speaking, ANY song used as the theme song for a presidential candidate (Kerry campaign) ought to then be permanently banned.
That being said, I'm still all about the Kanye set unless there is some unbelievable conflict. Plus, they have between now and 'Roo to work out any kinks, and to hone the entire production. I'd bet on significant differences by the time we get to see it.
"We're no longer called Sonic Death Monkey. We're on the verge of becoming Kathleen Turner Overdrive, but just for tonight, we are Barry Jive and his Uptown Five. "
I'm just sick of hearing dont stop believin at every party i go to. That said, I don't really trust critics and I'll check out kanyes set for a little bit, at least.
