Hey, so I'm going crazy planning my first roo! I'm going to walmart eventually to get a misty mate but I would like something for the tent. I've been shopping online and I came across a $15 Coleman freestanding tent fan. It lasts 21 hours on 4 D size batteries. I trust Coleman but I'm wondering if there are any alternatives. I would really really like a solar powered fan but that may be unrealistic.. So has anyone brought a fan to roo and loved it? If so, how much was it/where did you buy it?
I think I am going to get one of those. How powerful do you think they are?
they move a surprising amount of air. mine is an off brand.... it's called 'O2 Cool'
That is what I had last year too. I loaded it up with like 4 or 6 D batteries, whatever it took, and it worked great all weekend long, never had to change them out. I think it was at Walmart for like 10 or 12 bucks. At that price I would recommend 1 per person. Well worth it
I bought one of these and the innards blew out after about 15 minutes of use. It was a waste and it was heavy since I had to take it on the plane with all my other gear
i used the 02cool this past year, it was pretty solid, but last year was so effing hot that it wasn't really good for anything but setting it right in front of your face sitting outside of your tent...
How much did you pay? They have the 02 Cool at Wal-Mart as well. Price: $12.94
I definitely paid more than that! Is it 10 inches? There's a 5 inch version, which is cheaper, but I paid around $16 on eBay after not finding it cheaper elsewhere (buying 2 from that particular eBayer gave me a discount on shipping that nowhere else could match).
i paid $19.95 for the zephyr on ebay plus shipping which kinda sucks... but i had money in my paypal account and no cash, so hopefully it's worth it. i might have waited and gotten it at walmart if i knew they sold them there and bought more glowsticks on ebay though. oh well lol
I just bought the O2 as well. It felt pretty significant. I haven't figure out how I'm going to set it up yet for maximum cooling though...suggestions?

I'm pretty sure my fan is just like this (it's packed up otherwise I'd look). I know it's the O2 Cool, and it takes 8-D batteries. I got it at Big Lots for $10. They still had them when I went by this past weekend.
Also walgreens had a big selection of battery-operated fans. I didn't browse too hard because I already have one, but I saw at least one battery-operated freestanding fan.

That's an excellent deal! Ours doesn't have 'em down here. I looked last weekend, just in case one of my friends needed one. Really good price.
Ok so I thought i had a great idea of getting a 100watt inverter(http://www.amazon.com/Black-Decker-Power-Inverter-PI100AB/dp/B000WSIR14), an extension cord, and a small fan (http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=5384372). I thought i had the greatest idea and this would keep me cool in the morning cos i would just flip it on when the sun comes up!
Boy was I suprised when i tested it out and realized that 100 watts definetely wasnt enough to power this small fan!!!! Figured Im now going to have to return this inverter and get a 400 watt inverter. Maybe someone could help with this issue and let me know if im thinking correctly about getting a 400 inverter or if i should try something else!!! Also how long will my car battery last with this thing on do you think?
