Well I know compared to yall, I'm not bring much....lol.
ugadawgs! Awesome...I'm orignally from around Athens. I'm flying into ATL and meeting with some boys from Milledgeville and we're driving up.
First time Roo-er but multiple campground festival attendee. Our last trip was for PJ out at the Gorge--let me tell you dude, in the middle of Summer, that might be the hottest place on Earth, and I get the feeling Roo ain't going to be a week in an ice hotel. At the very least, you need to bring some kind of very reliable shade and a lot of water. Depending on the position of the sun, you can have "shade" and have none at all.
I saw this one dude slowly lose his mind at the Gorge--he was in a white tent, 110 degree heat, no water. Nothing he did worked--inside the tent was an oven, outside the tent was a sunstroke watiing to happen. We had to go have an intervention with him before he friggin' died. We gave him some water and shade and we agreed with him when he said it was time for him to go home.
Don't be underprepared when dealing with the elements. Other than that, sounds like you can mooch everything else.

i was wondering... does sun block go bad? I have leftover stuff from last year, and wasn't sure if it was still usable. Hope so... It'd keep my shopping list considerably smaller.
Thanks for this thread... it might be a way for you to curb your enthusiasm... but for me, it's given me a valuable resource to check all the ins and outs. Yes, I have some lists of things to bring to 'Roo, but this list has given multiple outlooks. I would have probably forgot little things like aluminum foil (can be used to wrap up leftovers, reflect sun somehow, or I can put it on my grill to cook things that might fall through the grate).
So keep your posts coming, and helps noobs like me out!
My supply list has shrunk, INCREDIBLY, over the past five years.
The move out west, which made flight a requirement, is the biggest culprit, but that change has forced a serious reevaluation of what I really need, what I really want, and what it's really all about. I make it all work with a large military rucksack and a camelbak, which I could probably make EVERYTHING work out of, if I really put some work into it, but I've ended up depending on the shade transportation of those kind folks who are in driving distance...
Tent ticket cash sleeping bag 48 bottles of water (24 frozen) 15 bottles of Powerade first aid kit mallet multi tool backpack camelbak wet wipes camp chair Coleman propane grill 10x10 canopy Purell lantern AA batteries citronella candle lighters Sanuks bandannas 2 tarps camp shower tent 2 five gallon water bags toilet paper utensils

Garth Algar: Do you ever get the feeling Benjamin's just using us?
Wayne Campbell: Good call. It's like he wants us to be liked by everyone. I mean Led Zeppelin didn't write tunes everybody liked. They left that to the Bee Gees.
