i too am kinda wondering how it got to rothbury caused roo to not sell out. i didnt say it. apparently in a couple of peoples realities i must have said that. i thought i was quite clear about the many reasons i thought roo attendance would drop. im pretty sure i argued with both of these guys about nearly all of those things too.. so im not sure how they got on this dude thinks rothbury ruined roo thing. maybe i should bitch more... i think that rothbury may have contributed some. but i think most former rooers that went to rothbury instead were done with roo regardless of rothbury. if it wasnt rothbury it would have been all good, 10klf, summercamp, the ledges, etc...

i put spoon in because i think they will be there next year. not because i thought they were like the others. and it dont mean poop about what i like or dont like. id really like to see NIN. they were a favorite of mine growing up. its just a statement about where the fest has gone as a whole.
and i hate to break it to ya but middle of nowhere tennesee is not the same as middle of no where michigan. bonnaroo is centrally located to every major market in the eastern half of the united states. there are no major population centers north of rothbury... just a bunch of rednecks, canadians, and lots and lots of water and wilderness. but you can keep calling mie ignorant and closed minded if you like.
Ignorant about population densities, close minded about people from Clevland and Michigan. Or do you disagree?
I am going to make a dude hates Bonnaroo thread please feel free to post all your negative poop in there. There are plenty of nice places in Cleavland (Rock and Roll hall of Fame), and Detroit. Also for someone who says they are a hippy that big a generalization shows a real lack of class.
seriously???? have you spent anytime in clevelnad or detroit??? it would be like me going to a michael jordan yout basketball camp and saying "man these kids LOVE basketball"
sure their may be a couple who suck and hate basketball and daddy is just making them go to try to live out some dream or whatnot.... but the reality is those kids really love basketball. and me saying that people listening to anythign outside of mainstream radio stuff in detroit and clevelnad is the same way. its that bad. and im talking about good music. not just what i listen to. its nearly impossible to find anyone listening to anyhting but pop rap, pop country, pop rock, etc... seriously. i make that generalization because it generally just the way it is. its more then generally the way it is.. it is absolutely the way it is.
well its pretty easy to be open minded about cleveland and detroit from nashville... i have lived in the area my whole life. im just saying how it is. i cant beleive that soemone from nashville would be defending musical culture in detroit and cleveland and bringing up the rock and roll hall of fame....
and as for populations and what not walk into any business class in any university in america and tell them you want to throw a national draw music fest and present a site in central tn and one halfway up michigan and see which one gets picked more. thats all i have to say abotu that.
and sure there is culture in detroit and cleveland... alot of great music came out of detroit. but noone in detroit is enjoying it. people come into the city for that and drive back out as fast as they can.... i cant beleive we are even having this argument. i have lived in the are my whole life and have never met anyone inot good music unelss i meet them at a show or the ledges... thats how few there are. maybe a dude here with a tie dye, or a chick there with dreads. but other then that nothing outside of shows. but atleast you can always sort through the masses and find some like mided people at a good show. there might only be 20 people there but its the 20 i wanna meet.
there is one big justification argument going on here.
anyway, i read some online publication saying the rothbury crowd suddenly jumped up to 50,000. That's a rather stellar first outing, and who knows what the word of mouth will bring for next year.
That being said, i am one of these that doesn't think the festivals really compete with each other. The existence of each one just makes it chic to tour festivals instead of clubs. Rothbury provides credibility to Bonnaroo providing credibility to Coachella and so forth.
It's the same way that Pepsi doesn't actually bring Coca-Cola down.
Can festivals survive climbing gas prices? I'm a Texan and I'd rather not be doomed to the annual attendance of ACL and SXSW just because I can't afford to make it to Michigan, Tennessee, or Florida.

Ok but I still say writing off 9 million people as no class buttholes is a little close minded.

Ok. Thank you for getting this thread back on topic. Now can we PLEASE stay there.

First off, I need to stop laughing about the idea of you in a business class, much less walking in and commanding attention.
*i like coconuts, you can break them open they smell like ladies lyin in the sun** *Hell I don't even know where I am** *for now I must sit here and ponder the yonder: The herbivores did well cause their food didn't never run** *We listen, if it feels good We shake** *You made a big impression for a girl of your size, Now I can't get by without you and your big brown eyes.**
