so who had the pleasure of camping in knee high grass?I could have sworn i read a post on here that said they had cut the grass like three weeks before the fest..im pretty sure there was some rain in that three week window, and anyone with common sense knows grass grows quick when its rainy and humid...now i wouldnt be beeyotching about it,but i noticed the camp area across from the ferris wheeland the fence was mowed, while we were camping on grass literally up to our asshole...ad the grasshoppers and crickets were everywhere,as well as all the males in our camp had either chigger bites or an allergic reaction to the high grass, but no one was able to discern which(i tried to take pictures of the funky red spots and blotches on my legs but couldnt get them to show up too well..)id like to know why the grass wasnt cut a little closer to time of the festival, and better yet,why wasnt ALL of the grass the same length as the grass in the wip and tent only areas?

Damn I thought it was only Family Camping like that. Some asshat had mowed half the field and left the other half with three foot high grass. Guess which half we got assigned to? Looked like freaking gazelles and wildebeasts were going to come stampeding through any minute. We picked ticks off our kids all weekend. If you haven't done it, better check your heads!
I think I can win the prize for that one. This is a photo of my legs I just took after going to the doctor.
DAMN.......thats what im talkin bout only mine wasnt NEAR as bad as that......funny thing is none of the females in our group had it...but DAMN i know that sucks ...have some karma to make ya feel better...
thanks, I feel better already ;D and you to, for starting this thread Chef got a pic of it looking worse on Sunday. Maybe you will get lucky, and she doesn't post it......

lol i noticed that too. i was camping wedged in the back with rvs behind and off to the right of us when facing centeroo. it was pounded down in a few days and even that high on the first day but was noticably higher than grass closer to centeroo
I might be wrong (and i often am) - but didn't the grass perk due to the rain the week(end) prior? That would have been hard to control. And we wouldn't want grass shavings all over either. I dunno. It was high in VIP, but it was high in a, "i mowed the lawn a week ago and it rained and it grew back, the bastards" way.

What did the doctor say? I'm having the same thing, except on my neck too from lying down all the time without a blanket. I'm so fucking itchy that my face has swelled up. I have hives for the first time in my life.
That's weird...everyone I met on Thursday coldn't find the grass ANYWHERE
Lol. TOO TRUE. Luckily we didn't have that problem, but we did hear the skinny from a guy who said that security was way too tight at the gates on Thurs. to get things in.
we were out in BFE by pod nine and the grass was terrible. it poked holes in people stuff and the bugs were ridiculous. you'd think that this would be the one time of the year when they would be vigilant about cutting it. our joke with our neighbors was that none of us knew we should have brought a weed whacker, haha.

while waiting in line on Bushy Branch, we saw a guy pull a lawnmower out of his RV and mow the grass around his campsite... our car got a good laugh out of that one...
until we stepped out into our campsite and the grass was up to our knees
She said "We are going to have to amputate!" So they may have to cut off your head if it is on your neck!
No, they gave me a steroid shot in my ass, told me to elevate my feet to get the swelling down, and take 2 benadryl every 4 hours. Swelling went down and now I can walk!

Get some 1% hydrocortisone cream and rub down.
Karma! Thank you. It seems to be better now after I spent the day zoned out on benadryl. Man that stuff is brutal.
Ugh. I might have to try the Benadryl. Got the rash up to my knees, all over my arms and hands, and up my neck. When I got home Tuesday morning my my ankles and feet were swollen. I've been sleeping with them elevated which seems to help, but I'm still itchy as quack.
Glad it's a LITTLE better Druid! Hope you feel TONS better soon!! Maybe some of your yummy creme will help? It sure helped my sunburn...cause I sure was a krispy critter by Monday Thanks sweetie!

i had a rash on my back upon waking up saturday morning. had to be from laying down in the grass on friday.
my friend was joking around that we should all have little grass cutters. i mean.. when you are sitting around your camp puffing and talking and relaxing.. you could also be cutting the grass... ridiculous.
My Bonnabuddy definitely spent a good half hour pulling up huge weeds... that poop isn't grass, its mutants! We also joked about bringing a weed wacker next year. Hey, why not?
But yeah, it sucked. We laid down a drop cloth under our EZ Up and it was too thin, the grass poked through. A heavy duty tarp or a carpet is the only thing that's gonna smush that stuff down.
We had a small shrub growing in the middle of our campsite. We got the liner from our friend's truck and put it down as a rug under one of the EZ ups and that helped... but the bigs were INSANE! Ants, crickets, spiders, flying things and we were all covered with bites each morning when we woke up. Don't remember any bugs last year.
Oh you poor people with the rashes!! Hope you get better soon! Ouch!
I say you guys send your pics to super fly....Our grass was rediculous as well and we were in RV. We drove the car over it a few times, but it poped right back out!
As my Inebriated buddy walks out of the Porto, he yells out, "Dude...I love this place...bonnaroo thinks about everything...they even put beer holders next to the toilet!"
Had to break it to him that that was the urnal. Good times good times!
I'm wondering about something - someone had posted prior to Bonnaroo (a local I think) that they were spraying stuff for the fire ants and all - wonder if the reactions people had were from the chemicals in the sprays???

We had lots of tall grass but we laid down a bunch of old rugs and it kept the grass from bothering us really. You guys have my sympathy though, that s**t looks rough!!
