My camp was rather comfortable and successful this year. A few things I did right: 1. Coolers. A small one with dry ice on the bottom and regular ice on top. I didn't buy ice all weekend. A big cooler with all my food/beer/frozen water bottles. 2. Shade. 10x10 EZ-up with two walls, a tarp at a 45* to the ground, and my Jeep surrounding it. 3. Made friends with the neighbors. They were struggling with their shade tent, I helped, they were grateful. 4. Carpets. The grass was tall??? 5. Large variety of small servings of food > small variety of large servings. 6. Generator. Brought a small quiet generator and was able to run a big honkin box fan, listen to the radio, make coffee, charge batteries, charge the neighbors batteries, move photos off the camera and onto the computer, run christmas lights, etc. all at the same time. 7. Brought a table and chairs. mmmm comfy! 8. Brought locks. mmmmm sense of security.....

We had these chairs last year, but never used the shade part. This year we did and it was perfect - no rain hit us during MMJ and we stayed out of the sun the rest of the weekend.
Fans. Two O2 Cool ones run on a zillion D-cells. They made a huge difference.
Shade. Impulse bought a $27 9' x9' Walmart shade as extra, in addition to the shade over our tent. Total pain to set up (too many pieces, poorly marked), but such a massive help in both rain and mega heat!
Tarps. We put industrial strength velcro on various walls of the shade tents and moved the tarps as the sun required. Morning was bearable for the first time ever!
Rain boots. Felt silly bringing them with me, but boy did they come in handy.
Dry ice. It was awesome to be able to reach into the cooler on Monday morning and pull out a cold Red Bull for campsite breakdown, without having everything inside swimming in ice runoff.
Biker shorts made of wicking material. Cool, comfy and no chafing under my dresses!
Sooo much more comfortable this year than last year. At the campsite and away!

15 lbs of dry ice & frozen water jugs in 5-day cooler Ear plugs (late nights & the drive home) Rinseless shampoo & soap from REI Screen room & tarp for the ground Kept rainfly on the tent TP & wipes in Centeroo Empty gallon jug in Centeroo for water = only getting water twice a day Sigg water bottles SPF 50 sunscreen Big floppy hats Insulated backpack cooler Skipped Kanye
Brought: -plenty of water... maybe too much, but we had enough for washing off as much as possible. -a shower tent... solar shower bag was useless but the tent itself was great. -tie dye sheets and attached them to our shade tent for extra shade... worked great. -spray bottles of water (should have brought a couple more though, they are easy to lose!) -a grill, don't know how we did it without one last year! -enough food & other sundries to be a generous neighbor

* We used two, 10 X 10 First-Up canopies with cots underneath one canopy and no tents. We pushed the canopies up against each other, put side walls on one, and bought tapestries for the other three sides of the second canopy.
* used two fans this year instead of one (I had a third one, but it was defective.)
* wore lighter clothing
* didn't hang out with our neighbors at all
* put tarps on the ground under the canopies to avoid the tall grass
I joined Inforoo. That was the best thing I could have ever done
This was my first Roo, and I had no idea what I should bring. If it hadn't been for Inforoo, we wouldn't have been nearly as prepared. But thanks to the lovely people here on the boards, we were completely prepared for EVERYTHING. We had a great set-up in tent-only, brought an EZ up which took up a lot of room in the car but was the BEST THING EVER, and had enough water to give away to needy neighbors.
Solar lights, they were great at helping us find our campsite quickly. Two pack at Big Lots for $8, a great investment.
Took a fellow Inforooster to the airport on Monday <shout out to the3penguins> and therefore made a new friend.

what did i do right this year? i had the perfect mentality. i embraced what i could and didnt sweat the things that i did last year. i learned that you can't see and do everything. you might leave a show early to get to another show only to realize you missed your favorite tune. i learned that what mattered is what I DID get to do. whereas last year.. i was disappointed at all the things i had wanted to do but didnt get around to doing. this year i was just happy. really, its a life lesson. because in real life.. as well as at roo.. you might be disappointed and you also might have your mind blown by something you didnt anticipate would be so awesome. but whatever happens... its all good.

I'm pretty sure I walked right by you (or someone else with those chairs) on Sunday morning @ the Revival.
I thought to myself, "Damn, those are some mighty nifty chairs!"

Ooops! Didn't see the last year part.... got too excited when I saw something I know I've seen @ 'Roo....
Damn it, brain.... return to pre-roo state!
In any event, someone had them on Sunday and they looked pretty ill regardless....
I bought NEW sunscreen for Bonnaroo this year. The last time I went was two years ago and apparently my sunscreen had gone bad, so I managed to get myself a nice second degree sunburn while standing outside for twelve hours waiting for Radiohead. I almost had to go to the hospital when I went home and I still have the scars from it. Totally worth it though. Also, bringing our own food was good. We'd pig out on hummus and tabbouleh twice a day! YUMMERS! Put that stuff on those white cheddar rice cakes...heaven. Pure heaven. I'm definitely bringing that every year. It was light, filling, and decently nutritious.
We also brought a couple of big bottles of Powerade and it made all the difference in the world. I'm definitely lugging along a case next year!
I left Kanye after waiting for about a hour and a half and gave someone in VIP the 40 or so glowsticks I brought. They looked very happy and that made my mood better.
*Pacing myself, and not partying my butt off until after the sun had gone down.
*Staying hydrated! Bringing my Camelbak was a very smart decision.
*Not being shy and actually striking up conversations with the people around me. Going solo really forced me to do that, and 98% turned out to be awesome, really kind folks who were just interested in music and having a good time.
*Using lots of sunscreen (still burned a little bit on the back of my upper arms, just above the elbows - but it could've been a lot worse)
*Not staying up until the absolute last show had ended on Friday and Saturday.
*(In general) sticking around to catch entire shows, instead of seeing little bits of various shows. There were a few notable exceptions, though (saw two thirds of Robert Plant and Alison Krauss and two thirds of Death Cab for Cutie, and missed the last two thirds of My Morning Jacket for Superjam)
*Staking out a good spot for only a couple shows I was really psyched for; the rest of the time, I just wandered around and did whatever struck my fancy.
*Taking lots of photos (and a little bit of video, too)
*Clapping a lot, dancing like nobody was watching, singing along with my favorite songs, etc.

^^this. So this (minus the bit about the EZ-Up, I didn't bring one of those).

There's no combination of words I could put on the back of a postcard. No song that I could sing. But I can try for your heart Our dreams, and they are made out of real things Like a, shoebox of photographs With sepiatone loving Love is the answer
A little feeling in my gut that I get of late when I think about these cats running the world with hate
1. Had the perfect amount of food. None to take home. 2. Ate exclusively at camp. Not paying the high prices of vendors. 3. Perfect amount of beer. Went home with less than a six pack. Drank almost exclusively from camp. Bought 3 beers inside. 4. Paced myself perfectly. No drinking during the day. Would start around 7ish and would only blaze for certain performances. 5. Power inverter. Ran fan all weekend, recharged phones, camera, laptops. 6. UnderArmour briefs. No chafing whatsoever. 7. SolarShower. Showered every day and didn't have to pay 7 bucks for it.
I sound cheap...maybe I am. I just can't swallow the excessive price of items/goods at Bonnaroo. It's the one thing that irks me most about the festival.
