- The best thing I did was drive all day Wednesday to a hotel in Murfreesburo. I was able to get all rested, showered etc. then drive all of 35 min. to Manchester on Thursday morning where I was early enough to only be in line for 2 hours. This was so much better than '07 where we drove over 6 hours on Thursday and ended up in line for another 4. The overall effect is that of getting your camp setup early and being nice and rested for the rest of the day. I think it made the whole weekend better.
- Bringing an EZ-UP
- Going with my sister. I was a little hesitant, but we ended up having a blast. I haven't spent that much time with her probably ever in our whole lives. She is so cool, like a cool girl version of me.

- listened to all the advice i got inforoo, and in turn i was pushy about the way we should set up camp, my group complained while setting up but thanked me the rest of the weekend - tons of water - had like 4 camping fans - 5 day cooler - spray on sunblock - camelbak
- We had 2 EZ-ups for our camp. So it was nice and shady.
- I applied and reapplied sunscreen fairly religiously. I got a little pink/red on my face but I was amazed that I came home with a slight tan as opposed to a sunburn.
- Camelbak. It was nice to always have water available.
- I made sure I ate at least twice a day. I wasn't hungry very much due to the heat but I knew I needed energy to get me through the day and late night.
- Paced myself. I was a roo virgin but read enough on Inforoo to know it wasn't worth trying to party non-stop for days only to crash during a show I really wanted to see. Yeah...so I missed a couple of performances but the ones I did see I enjoyed immensely. Not to say I wasn't exhausted on Friday night and Sunday morning but I made it through.
- Earplugs and sleep mask. Along with my tent fan I was golden.
- I left my stress/concerns/worries at the gate. Embrace the roo experience for all its worth and ye shall be rewarded
Not going to a single mainstage performance until BB King on Saturday evening, besides 20-30 minutes of Metallica (although, in all fairness, I would have seen The Raconteurs if I hadn't had such a good spot for !!!). I preferred getting up close (well, close-ish) at the smaller performance areas, instead of basically just watching a TV screen at What Stage.
^^I realized the other day that the only Main Stage thing I went to was Metallica and Kanye. It was the best thing I ever did at Roo, not going there hardly. I could have been close up for !!! but for some reason the crowd wasn't hitting my anxious brain the right way so I ended up having my own party on the side area. So awesome.
EZ up was worth every penny! V8 juice is a good thing with so much sun (lycopene). Frozen coffee and heady pies in centeroo. Yum and yum. I wandered more by myself and really liked that. Still no ferriswheel ride though.
Instead of dirt and poison, we have rather chosen to fill our hives with honey and wax; thus furnishing mankind with the two noblest of things, which are sweetness and light.
What I did right was follow all the suggestions from inforoo!! I had enough supplies for us and the neighbors.
and...
When I lost my 4'9 sister during the Metallica show- A)Chanted for my party supplies (success!), B)Didn't give up looking (for her), C)When a song came on that I loved- I just partied with whoever I was next too...
Found her later at the tent, she was escorted by a couple of guys that partied with us the remainder of the night. This was a learning experience for me since for the first time instead of getting upset and frantic I thought- I am outside, enjoying party supplies and rockin to a band I've always loved but never thought I would see live and it doesn't get much better than this!! Each song stopped me at a new set of friends. It turned out to be one of the best parts of roo.

^^^ Good for you. Groups don't always work out well while everyone is nommin. We always just meet up AFTER the show at a certain spot. Usually back left of the sound guy. I know it's cliche but "not all who wonder are lost." We love to split up during a show and wonder around meeting new people and sharing our delicious corn we bring from Miami. Then when we meet back up after the show we bring our new friends and continue on to different tunes with new people. Its awesome that way.
1) Met up and camped w/ some friends we made in '07. Fantastic. 2) Ate more food at camp, and only got what I really wanted and loved from the vendors. 3) Saw 2 Bonnaroo sunrises...nothing quite like that. 4) Gatorade. 5) Made friends w/ the neighbors. 6) Took more water/supplies into CenterRoo, thus cutting down on trips back to camp. 7) More shade and more chairs. 8) Better breakfasts...it really helps you get going for the day.

1. brought my own tent. worked great for privacy and because the boy decided to stay with me every night. 2. mary jane crocs. 3. saw almost everyone i wanted to 4. sonice stage for group fantasma, cornmeal and state radio. i ignored the sonic stage last year but this was one of the best afternoons and we got great spots. 5. pretty good camping spot 'cept they needed to cut that grass!

1. Great camping area, but we didn't have grass, we had GIGANTIC hay stick things sticking up out of the ground that STABBED you through your shoes... 2. I brought tons of bandanas and kept them in the cooler, then switched them out on my head every time i came back to camp. 3. I didn't spend a lot of money on food inside centeroo 4. I bought tons of frozen lemonades that got me through the day 5. I stayed hydrated and ate enough 6. Got FRONT ROW for Jakob Dylan, BB King, Robert Plant and Alison Krauss, Grupo Fantasma and Willie Nelson 7. Went to the silent disco, visited shakedown, and spent some time in the cinema.
dancing i got stabbed by some of that straw grass in 07. it sounds stupid but it hurt and i was terrified it would get infected the entire trip because i couldnt keep it clean or wrapped.

^^^^not stupid at all! The guy I was with got stabbed in his leg while we were setting up the tent. It was pretty bad- the stick actually went IN his leg and made a HOLE. Luckily, I have med training and I had brought my jump bag with me, so we were able to keep it semi-clean...

baby wipes. i read on this forum how important it was to have them and made sure we stocked up on them before we headed down to the festi. they were lifesavers.
I have to say, I am mighty spoiled with our set up each year. For the past four years I have traveled to the almighty 'Roo with my Mom and Dad, who enjoy 'Roo just as much as myself. So they live in comfort and each year we have came with our camper and HUGE graduation screened-in Tent. <-- amazing for mid-day chill sessions to get out of the sun. We also have a grill, about 7 coolers and alllll the food you can possibly think of. My favorite being Morningstar Veggie Burgers of various flavors. But I am getting a bit off-topic-- I survive 'Roo with Chaco's on my feet, plenty of bandanas which have an endless amount of uses, camelbak, backpack with random goodies, comfy shorts, sunscreen and a hat. AND, the best thing, in my opinion to tool around with throught the magical weekend, is good company, good people who enjoy the true essence of 'Roo and all it has to offer
hmm...I didn't follow my friend around. If I had I would have missed Colonel Claypool, one of my favorite acts the whole time. I was scared about going it alone but I was next to this guy at Les who was eating some of his corn and I was eating some of mine, then without any verbal communication, we switched our corn cobs and sampled one anothers corn and switched back. One of my most memorable moments! hmmmm what else. I forced myself to miss Kanye :-p and saw ghostland! very cool. I also brought a shade tent and I ended up sleeping in it. I also budgeted pretty well to be honest.
EZUP-style shade tent - almost a necessity for morning/afternoon at camp, plus you can set it up in about 2 minutes. Air mattress WITH electric pump - self explanatory
^That sounds like a good idea... haven't thought about the Under Armor since wrestling.
I also did this right, this year:
I organized our trip very well... everyone was on time, we all stuck together(until the fest, of course), and arrived in the same bunch. And with 5 vehicles to our caravan, that was an astonishing accomplishment. We all got parked together...
And we put up 3 canopies, all connected by two other tarps... best idea we ever had for Bonnaroo. We all had shade, plenty of room in said shade, and hardly anything got wet from the rain storm on Saturday.
Ditto. Roo is not the time to be friend-dependent. My RooBuddy drank to much alcohol and not enough water/gatorade, so she went back to camp & missed late-night Saturday. She missed Sigur Ros and Ghostland, my top Roo acts! If I had sat those shows out because she wasn't up to going, I know I would never forgive myself.
Even if you're a girl (like myself), don't be afraid to venture off by yourself. I never felt threatened on the grounds. And you can always make new friends wherever you end up!
I hardly spent the money I brought, I spent maybe $120. Food was my biggest expense but since I didn't eat a whole lot, I didn't spend a lot. Roo can be pretty cheap if you plan wisely.

Brought less food with me, and bought more from the vendors. I saved much time and really didn't spend all that much cash. I ate on about 15-20 dollars a day. And, the four 1/5's of rum between three of us was just enough. Goes great with frozen lemonade in the hot sun on our favorite farm.
