i just recently bought a ticket to the sts9/umphreys mcgee show in myrtle beach, sc. to people that know more about this tour or know what to expect, please enlighten me. will both bands play for 2hour+ or will they cut down their sets?

From what I've read both bands will play extended equal sets. I wouldn't be surprised if whichever band opens each night played a slightly shorter set though. I say this because whichever band opens the night gets to play a latenight show later that night. I would expect Murph from STS9 to sit in with UM a few times, as he has done this in the past. I wouldn't be surprised if Jake from UM sat in with STS9 once or twice, but I don't think we will see sit ins every single night. I'm hitting up the NYC show. I'm more excited to see Umphrey's because they are my favorite band but I'm also a huge STS9 fan so I'm actually pretty excited to see both on the same bill. I'm sure these shows will be a lot of fun.
you know whats really messed up?, I have a guest list spot for the nyc show but I'm not gonna be in the country and I emailed them asking if I could change the name on it since I wont be hear and they just strait up emailed me back

Well looking at the tour schedule now it looks like there isn't a latenight show after every show, just a few of them. When there is a latenight show it takes place in the same city, just at a different venue. It looks like the Myrtle Beach show doesn't have a latenight show so they will both play for the same amount of time I would say. When I bought my ticket for the NYC show I could have paid a little more and gotten the latenight show included. I didn't do this because the latenight is a STS9 PA set which I have little interest in. Love the band, just don't really have any interest in seeing them play with laptops for a whole show. If it was a standard STS9 or UM latenight show I would have definitely paid extra for a latenight ticket.
just FYI the PA set is not only laptops, zack is on a kit and they bring out diff instruments, but for the most part its just lap tops, but zack is on the kit the whole time.
oh and PA sets are doppe, they remix there songs right infront of your face, its pretty cool if you are a tribe fan.

that does sound awesome. any sound tribe show will do. only time i saw them was at bonnaroo in 07 and i couldnt stay for the whole show cause of the brilliance that is DJ Shadow.

You have to buy what they are calling a "VIP" ticket to get into the latenight show. If you go to the ticketmaster website you can get a regular ticket for $36, which is for just the Roseland show. You can also get a VIP ticket for $60 which includes both shows.
THE NYC show is going to be OUT OF CONTROL. Yea to know if you have the VIP ticket it should say VIP in small letters somewhere on it. Actually it was so small i actually bugged out when i got the ticket thinking i just got the regular show. But anyways STS9's Roth show was AMAZING and i expect nothing less from them. However, UM is my favorite band so I'm probably more pumped for their set.
but yeah, im going to check this show out in a few weeks. if anyone lurking is reading and going, pm me - i want to know more peeps in the boston "scene"...

I'll just say that Umphrey's better get a latenight spot next year. If not that will be 3 years without latenight Umphrey's, and thats three years too long.
