I saw it, and I must agree with the fact that after the movie started -- NO ONE left their seats. In my packed out theater, I'd say maybe two people got up during the entire movie. It blew all my expectations out of the water. I loved it and I wish I could go see it on IMAX. :/
We went last night as well... I am a HUGE Batman nerd, so I had high expectations. The movie met my comic-geek expectations, with a cherry on top.
Seeing it in IMAX is the way to go, because I read that they shot the entire movie with "IMAX cameras". We got there a bit late, and had to sit up front... If you have ever been to an IMAX movie, then you know how bad that sucks. We still had a great time, and the movie rocked....
I still don't think it was better than Tim Burton's though... A very close second.
The movie was badasssssss, saw it last night, and I tried to go and see it again today, but it was sold out. Oh well, I'll go see it again next week. I didn't even like Batman Begins, this was much better.
i saw the movie last night at 12:01 and thought it was phenominal...definately agree that it will shatter records...it was fun seeing all the people painted and dressed as the joker (there were a few batmans out there)...i couldn't believe that after our show ended there was still another line waiting to get into the IMAX for another showing
I was batman well i had a cape and mask from my friends kids costume it was hilarious i was the only one. the movie was great heath as the joker was amazing. i cant wait for the third one.
Wow...not just a great summer blockbuster style movie but a legitimately great film. Heath Ledger owns this flick hands down, but Arron Eckhart was unexpectedly awesome ...I knew where Harvey Dent was headed but it was done so well.

Tried to go Friday night, but of course tickets were sold out a good hour in advance. Finally got to see it last night, and its a hell of a movie. Was never much of a Heath Ledger fan, but he definitely made this movie what it is.
Heath Ledger WAS the joker. He owned that character. I loved all his little manorisms, like licking his lips and his nervous craziness. Such a great movie.

Saw it last night, and I agree: terrific film. It has its problems, but it was very good. I'm wondering if Ledger will get a posthumous nomination.
And speaking of Ledger, did anyone think that he may have modeled the character after Tom Waits? I really think I heard Waits' voice, as well as the way he carries himself, in Ledger. For reference, here's his press conference from his current tour. Watch him and see if you don't see Ledger's Joker there.
I, for one, plan on waiting until I don't need to fight 200 people for the last parking spot in the movie theater to run and find that the only seats left are the very far left of the front row.
Me, movies, and punctuality are not a happy family
I'll see the movie in a week or two
ive got free passes for the imax so im waiting too
(we were at that U2-3D movie and it ended 10 minutes too soon due to some medical emergency - not really sure what was up - everyone seemed okay - but we got a handful of passes for our trouble).
I saw this on IMAX Saturday night. I'm going to the IMAX again on Saturday to see it again, which is kind of a big deal because I have to drive two hours to an IMAX theatre. I've never been so obsessed with a film to do that. It's totally worth it. And probably not healthy. Oh well...
Also, pencils have never been so scary. The Joker is one sumbitch!
I saw it at the drive in and it was awesome. The drive-in has to be the best all around movie-going experience for me. Beer in one hand, corn in the other watching Dark Knight doesn't get any better.
Absolutely incredible film! Ledger lives upto the hype! Loved his little ticks.
He played the Joker so well, Crazy, Intelligent, scarred, evil, all wrapped perfectly into the character with each trait coming out at just the right moment.
I was a teen when the Keaton, Nicholsen Batman came out an di loved Jack's Joker, LEdger blows him away with this takin the joker to a whole different level.
"Why So Sad?"
Loved it! Will probably go see it again this weekend...
I just saw it last night and wouldn't rule out going again. I'd hate to be whomever gets chosen to fill Heath Ledger's shoes.
I haven't quite decided whether this or Tim Burton's is my favorite of the Batman films. But these Nolan ones have definitely put to shame every Batman movie since Burton's. That army of missile-armed penguins seems like child's play in comparison.
Did anyone else catch the cameo by Sen. Pat Leahy?
This movie was one of the best I've ever seen. I've been a Batman geek my whole life, and no one has captured the comic the way Nolan and company have. IMHO, the original series sucks serious rotten eggs (and I say that as a Tim Burton fan). These films are the essence of Batman. All kinds of props to Heath!!!! The performance is phenomenal!!!

a little off topic...but i don't think i could say anything else about the dark knight that hasn't been said in the last 2 pages. what did everyone think of the watchmen trailer that premiered with the dark knight. i love the watchmen and was extremely excited when i saw this ;D ;D ;D
My friend Brian and I creamed ourselves when we saw the trailer for Watchmen. It was the closest thing to sex he and I will ever have together. Since I saw it on IMAX and it was the most awesome thing ever, I refuse to see it in any other format.

Hope it's as good as the preview promises. I think anything they do will be Watchmen-lite unless it's 5 hours long.
Zack Snyder wants a running time of 3 hours +. said in an interview that he's battling the studio for it. if there's anything that i could sit thru for 3 hours it's definately watchmen.

I hope this is good... but I'm not sure how well it can turn out. I'm definitely gonna see this.
Watchmen is the best comic story I ever read as a kid, and I've been waiting for a movie adaptation since I read it.
They were ambiguous about it, so I can see how it would be confusing. However, it's still rather early in the Batman saga, so I figured it's a given that he shows up again later.
At the very least, Two Face was in one of the lesser 90s Batman movies... but I don't know if it's safe to assume that the current crop of Nolan films leads into the chronology already covered by the older films.
