Wow...not just a great summer blockbuster style movie but a legitimately great film. Heath Ledger owns this flick hands down, but Arron Eckhart was unexpectedly awesome ...I knew where Harvey Dent was headed but it was done so well.
I was really impressed with that too. They did a great job of character development.

so i just read this on movieweb.com and it intrigued me greatly...
A source told the Enquirer that "(Producers) are convinced that the role of the Riddler is perfect for Depp. Johnny's a pro. He'll be able to take direction from director Chris Nolan and still make the character his own. And what better Penguin is there than Philip Seymour Hoffman."
That would be great. Although I must say, I didn't like his character in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and I hope he doesn't take the joker in that direction. But I have faith that if he were to get that role, it would be on par with Ledger's Joker.

Christopher Nolan and Chocolate Factory Depp don't seem likely to mix to me.

^very very true....but movies tended to stay on the radar longer in those days as well. today sales usually drop off dramatically within a week or two.
* and i'm pretty sure those totals include the 97 re-release.
