I was wondering if Nolan might jump ahead for the final film and maybe do his take of The Dark Knight Returns. But I could be happy with a Two-Face storyline as well.

As much as i love Dark Knight Returns...
1) Christian Bale would no longer fit the role (even tho i'm pretty convinced he's a shape shifter) 2) The time line for the first two movies is not very long (end of Begins Wayne Manor is destroyed and in Dark Knight it's still being rebuilt). I feel like it would be focusing on 1 maybe 2 years of batman in his prime and then fast foward to his retirement.
I would prefer if they just created another film featuring a new villian and maybe a return of Two-Face. Would love to see them bring Catwoman into the next one. Bruces love interest is gone so and i would love to see what nolan does with that character.
Someone also said to me, "Phillip Seymour Hoffman as the Penguin" and i just think that's genious.
P.S. Hoffman as Penguin > Danny DeVito as Penguin, I'd be willing to bet.
Oh, and as good as Ledger was as Joker (mannerisms, licking, comic timing) he has nothing on Jack Nicholson... but of course you're gonna have people insist that Ledger was better than Nicholson, and that's just not true.

jack nicholson > heath ledger
heath ledger's joker > jack nicholson's joker
it's more a matter of their roles than their performances. Nicholson's joker was much more comedic whereas there was a lot more depth in Ledger's character and therefore more depth in his performance.
Watching Dark Knight made me have to rewatch Burton's Batman. So I busted out the VHS and watched it last night. IMO, the original Batman has nothing on the Dark Knight. I still like Keaton as Bruce Waye, but I like how Bale's Wayne is more of a playboy whereas Keaton was more of a hermit. I also like Ledger's Joke better than Nicholson. While I feel that Nicholson was more like the comic version of the Joker, I found Ledger's joker to be scarier and more crazy.

the original batman and batman returns are what happens when you ask a director who has never read a comic in his life to direct one of the most recognizable and loved comic characters in history. and then schumacer comes along and turns every fight scene into a gay club with all the damned fluorescent lighting and nippled suits. it's just a property that deserved better.

I think the next film is supposed to have the Riddler as the main villain. Can't remember where I heard that.
Of course it helps to remember that this is a totally different Batman than we've ever had. Such a polar opposite of the campy TV one, for instance. So you have to think about which Batman villains they could reasonably include in this dark, gritty and wholly more realistic and complex Batman world. Even Two-Face was a stretch, as evidenced by how he fumbled through the end of the film. I can't see The Penguin showing up. Catwoman, probably, Mr. Freeze, probably not. That's my take, anyway.

^i def think the penguin is within the realm of the new batman movie universe. keeping in mind that the character is not really a deformed mutant with flippers who eats raw fish (that was Burtons invention). He's supposed to be a short aristocratic mobster with a love for birds.

arkham plays a major part in batman begins so it's already been introduced in Nolan's universe. I haven't read the long halloween but i know the gist of it and i think that would be a great basis for a follow-up to DK.
Thanks for the boost. Back at ya! I'm really considering starting up a subscription again. I've sold everything else, but I still have my Batman comics
...Maybe I just didn't get it. I'm not much of a comic book movie person. But while I thought The Dark Knight was really good and Heath's performance was amazing... I didn't come away from this movie particularly wanting to see it again. I think I'm the only person in the world that feels that way.

def not the only person...i have friends who say they actually hate it. (well...i had friends that say they hate it ;D). no movie is for everyone so it's not some crime to think it's nothing special.
