I am curious if any of you have any Bonnaroo "love" stories? I am curious because I have been dating my Bonnaroo RV neighboor since the Roo. We lived on opposite sides of the country until this past month until he moved to my state. It was our first Bonnaroo each...we had both been told over and over...don't go to Bonnaroo looking for a relationship or a hook up even....so it was not on either of our minds at all (well it was probably still on his mind...he's a guy). We ended up hanging out the entire weekend...and have talked every day since. Pretty crazy the way things happen sometimes.

that's sweet
there was a couple who MET at camp inforoo in 2006, and have since married not sure they still poke their heads in around here though... it's a really sweet story
i met them on thursday night, and they were so close that i thought they were a couple who had traveled to bonnaroo together...
as for me, i brought my own love! bonnaroo is a magical place
I was going to go solo to my second Roo but my sister decided to gather some people to go, including a friend of hers from work. We ended up splitting up into two cars and my car was her friend, her friend's cousin and myself.
Well, we started talking on the drive down (it's about fourteen hours and that's how long it takes to like me). We had our first kiss during Secret Machines (in retrospect, not the most romantic of bands!!!), have been dating for over three years and living together for a year and a half!

Has this happened to any of you?
That is very cool, as far as the people who say don't do this or that for a relationship...don't listen to them..do what is best for you.
I went to 06 with my wife of nine years and in 07 with my wife of ten years.....well as it looks I will be going with my wife of twelve years in 09....

well, i don't know if this qualifies as a bonnaroo love story, but i'll give it a shot anyway. bonnaroo 2008 was my first bonnaroo and i went with my boyfriend, who has been my best friend for years. our dating relationship was kind of new and we had never traveled anywhere together. we were supposed to go with a bunch of friends, but they all bailed out. so here we are, two young kids in love going to bonnaroo for the first time. the entire weekend he tried his hardest to take care of me. he made sure i was drinking enough water and applying tons of sunscreen. the fact that he was concerned with my well-being made me love him in a completely new way. we're looking forward to many more bonnaroos to come. so not exactly your typical roo romance, but it worked for me. :-)
Instead of dirt and poison, we have rather chosen to fill our hives with honey and wax; thus furnishing mankind with the two noblest of things, which are sweetness and light.
That's too cute...well our first kiss was late at night between the two RV's...I think on the Friday night of Roo after MMJ. He went in for the kiss and I totally shot him down...haha...for about 2 minutes...then I caved and kissed him.
I knew I had hit the jackpot though right at the beginning when my sister and I pulled the RV up and saw like 9 guys in one RV for a bachelor party. Funny stuff.
We are thinking about going back next year for our 1 year...would be pretty awesome.

I fell in love with someone on this board, have since broken up, but we always said that we never would have met if it hadnt have been for bonnaroo. He went with his friends and I went with mine (was all planned before we were a couple) but we ended up staying together every night and having a really great weekend together.
Well, I wouldn't exactly call it a Bonnaroo love story, but I did meet my boyfriend for the first time on the way to Bonnaroo '07. He was a friend of my brother's who was catching a ride with us out to Denver after Bonnaroo. So he and my brother and a bunch of other friends all met up at my place in Atlanta at like 5 a.m. that Thursday morning and after random shuffling of cars for people who hadn't seen each other in a while to ride together, etc. it ended up being just me and him in my car on the way to the 'roo. Thought he was a nice enough guy but kind of lame...and way too tall. I had everything my brother and I would need for 2 months on the road in my car and for some reason thought when my brother asked could we give his buddy a ride he'd be a small guy, not a six and a half foot giant.
Let's just say I didn't fall immediately head over heels in love with him. If I didn't think he'd murder me, I'd post pics of him from that Bonnaroo...let's just say mostly I saw him passed out and twitching on the ground or dragging his hungover ass through the campsite with a 40 in a brown bag and everyone around him yelling "Hey, look, it's Wolverine!"
We ended up staying in TN for almost two weeks visiting family before we hit the road and he kind of grew on me as a person. By the time we made it to Denver, I invited him to spend the rest of the summer bumming around with us. By the end of the summer, I was half-way in love with him, but he wasn't interested in me.
He decided to give Seattle a shot at the end of the summer, I went back to Atlanta, we kept in contact, stayed with a mutual friend for a festival in Denver that Sept., then were in the same group of friends at Magfest last year in Oct. where we finally decided we were in LOVE <3 Of course still had no intentions of dating b/c distance and all sorts of other factors. Saw each other at Thanksgiving and Christmas, then decided we had to stop doing that since there was no future possibility of really dating. Had a visit over President's Day weekend last February, where we discussed the fact that we were in love, had been unintentionally monogamous for 8 months and even though we lived thousands of miles away, we might as well date b/c we pretty much were already.
So we decided to do that on a trial basis, month by month and after a couple months we stopped counting the months. We traveled the country again this summer on the friends and family world tour and decided that him living in Atlanta would be nice, since I have a career here I don't want to leave. He's currently trying to find a job and apartment here. He stayed with me for about a month after our summer trip and hadn't found work, so he took some freelance work in Florida for a month, but he will be back next Wednesday !!! and might have some work lined up here so he can stay here.
It's pretty funny, I'd never really thought of him as a guy I met at Bonnaroo, but I guess I really did, LOL. We both love festivals and have been to like 6 together in the past 18 months as well as traveled freaking everywhere together. We're going to Mexico over Christmas to see my brother (who introduced us) and his girlfriend and are tentatively planning things for next year together (like the Phish shows!) so I guess we plan to be together for a while, LOL.

I attended this past year with my best friend. It was just the two of us. I hadnt seen her or spent any time with her in years. We had been growing apart for a while, the roo totally reconnected us and in a way made us "fall back in love". We had the most amazing time and will not miss it next year. Were so anxious were already starting to make our plans
haha I feel like bonnaroo, or some sort of music festival is the only place I will meet someone who is perfect for me haha. I love the stories though, so cool.
I dated my Roo 2007 neighbor for a couple months last summer. He was from Atlanta, and I'm from Ohio, so it ultimately didn't work out. It was great while it lasted though. The other guy with him (still a good friend of mine), is a musician and playes in Columbus every couple months, so I still get to see him pretty often.
Festivals are definately a place to meet like-minded people, and that can definately lead to love. Unfortunately, it's pretty likely that person will live pretty friggin far away.

Here's a good love story for you guys.It happened last year... I saw a post from some random guy asking if anyone wanted to caravan to Bonnaroo with him and his friends. It was their first year going...and since it was my 6th year I messaged him and told him my friend and I would love to meet up with them. So we finally leave and make our way there. We almost end up not meeting them and then oddly enough he texts me and we realize they just passed us on the interstate...so we all pull over and make the trek to Bonnaroo. Long story short....this random guy-Landon-and I end up getting along great and hanging out all weekend long and having the best weekend ever-by far one of my favorite Bonnaroo's. But then Bonnaroo ended and we had to go our separate ways-me to Nebraska, Landon to Kansas City. We knew we wanted to hang out more so we saw each other every weekend until October....when he moved to Omaha ;D. So we have been dating ever since and I'm completely smitten and in love. Yay Inforoo!!!!
i havent yet, but i feel strongly my mate will be there one year for me. I'm not looking, but im not closed to it either. just rollin with the punches.
Its great and heart warming to hear all these stories. wish i could karma you all!
Last year I was taking some pictures on Mon morning as we were all packing up, and about 100 yards down the road I saw this guy and girl embracing, kissing. It was very passionate, right in the middle of the road, and though I walked near them I didn't dare take a picture. I went on to my site, and sat there and watched them, and they both went to their respective camps, walking opposite ways. You could tell they knew they'd never see one another again. It was very beautiful. I don't know their story, but I got the jist.
hey lacey dont forget to tell them how you tried to lose us on the interstate too! i still love telling people that she is an internet stalker and online predator serial killer. i cant wait for another trip to the farm, see you all there!
Roo of '05, me and a girlfriend went together, alone. I wasn't seeing anyone and she was trying to get out of a relationship. So we decided we were just gonna go and have a blast and if we met someone cute, great!
Well we were in line, waiting to get into the toll booths and I notice a car in front of me has an ECU sticker on it, well I'm an ECU grad, and I also notice that there are 3 guys in the car... They end up getting into the really fast moving line and they start to direct us to a different line, I shout that we are with the guys and they, of course, send us with them. After getting through the toll booths, we jump out of my car, grab some beers, run up to their car, thank them and then hop back in my car. When we get to where they divide up the cars to the camping spots, the guys say we are with them and we end up getting primo spots, about a 5 minute walk from Centeroo and right next to these three guys.
So we start to unpack, the guys have nothing except a tent, two cases of beer and some Goldbond (Seriously!). We have everything (we were roo vets, they had never been) so we let them borrow everything they need and even feed them all weekend. But, we end up all being best friends, hanging out together and just having a blast. I end up hanging out with one of the guys a lot and it looked like there might be a little something there. So, on Saturday night we are going to the Silent Disco and I tripped over one of those damn Bonnaroo rocks and wasn't feeling the best... So he walks me back to my tent, and sleeps outside of it all night to make sure I was ok.
On Monday, there was just a little goodbye smootch, and that was that.
Well, he ends up getting in touch with me a few weeks after Roo and we only live an hour or so apart, so I went and visited. We had a great time and met up a few times after that. But, now we are just friends and still talk. We've even run into each other at 'Roo since then.

Gotta love the stories I must say. I have made great friends that I still keep in touch with but never that special someone. I have even met people I met at other festivals too which is always great.

And you didn't let him in!?
He didn't even ask to come in!! He just put me to bed, turned my tent fan on, and said that he'd be right outside if I needed him. He slept in a lawn chair right outside my door all night.
in '07, I was walking along in front of the Jazz tent when i noticed the most beautiful girl I have ever seen walking next to us, only a couple feet away. I said "hey, what you walkin' all alone for, come walk with us' so she started walkin with us (me) and I found out her name is Laurie and she is from Tennessee. She's my age, and she is gorgeous. However, she was working there, and had to go back to her employer by the What Stage and serve food. I found out when she got off and waited with a couple of kids I had just met, even though it was during Wilcos terrible, awful set. I saw her walking back and i could feel my excitement rise. I walked over and accompanied her while she got some food and we enjoyed her break together, then she walked off back to work, and I never saw her again. I know we never did anything, and i was not even a bit pissed about missing NMAS, but i honestly think i fell in love with this girl at first sight. My friends couldn't believe me for talking to her, they all agreed she was gorgeous. So Laurie, if you're out there, the total 25 or 30 minutes we spent together at bonnaroo were the most enjoyable 25 - 30 minutes of my life.
