Watchin' a stretch of road, miles of light explode. Driftin' off a thing I'd never done before. Watchin' a crowd roll in. Out go the lights it begins. A feelin' in my bones I've never felt before...
If this does in fact happen, I'd expect Superfly to open up the coffers and do pretty much whatever it takes to get Phish at the festival next year.
Um no. Phish is way to big to do Roo on their reunion tour. They'll be doing their own fests
Why is phish too big? I think at this point in their newly refreshed careers, they would fit the roo perfectly. Especially since trey's ego seems to to have been deflated as of late. I say let em close it out, or even better, give them a late- night set, since it will have been nearly a decade since Big Cypress. They should still do their own festie though....

time for me to chime in! I am selling everything i own to be at these shows! MSG was a mess in '02 and the hamptons shows just after cost me a bundle but i went then and i wont miss these hampton shows. Phish reunites on my b-day! What a present that will be. I will at least see them on the 6th and be holding out for the other two shows. See ya all there.

Me too ;D
I'm very, very, very pissed off at my credit card company right now. They have put a block until 10/14 on the card I used to place my reservation. I spent an hour on the phone with them Thursday, during which they basically said "screw you, you're just gonna have to wait."
There was a bank error with my automatic draft payment-seriously, not my fault, I even had my BANK call my credit card company and tell them that it wasn't my error and try to resolve the issue to no avail.
If I miss Phish b/c my transaction couldn't go through on my credit card, I may have to fire-bomb Providian. (Uh, not seriously, I wouldn't do something like that, but you can understand how pissed off this makes me.)
Here's hoping that A)I get tickets in the lottery and B) They don't try to bill it until after Tuesday, so they don't get kicked back b/c my CC isn't working.
Somehow I feel as if Thusday will be the day. To make sure that everyone knows if they got selected or not before the Ticketmaster meyhem thats gonna ensue.
Jeez. If I am right it's either gonna be the best birthday ever or the worst.
they can sell out an 80000 ticket festival themselves.
I feel this argument is flawed. I mean, Tiesto once drew 250,000 people by himself at Ipanema Beach, but there was still enough room to dance around at his set at Roo.
You could make that same argument about "being too big" for Bonnaroo with regards to The Dead, Trey, or Metallica, all of which/whom have a very devoted fanbase.
Yeah, the average Roo-goer is probably more likely to be a fan of Phish than of Tiesto, but still... I mean, why wouldn't Superfly want a sell-out crowd, especially after this year's lower-than-expected ticket sales? If Phish just did a single show at Bonnaroo, a la Led Zepellin at the O2, then yes, it probably would sell out very quickly, and it would make more sense for Superfly / AC Entertainment to give them their own festie. However, with a full reunion tour, I think it's unlikely that Roo would sell out right away if Phish were booked. Especially if the economy doesn't pick up by the time tickets go on sale (and I'm not expecting it to).

Please don't compare Phish to Metallica

No one ever said Superfly wouldn't try to get Phish. On the contrary, I think most of us agree that they will, as will every other festival. What some of us have said is that we don't believe Phish will do it.

Aww, come on, you know I didn't mean it like that - I just meant that both bands have lots of extremely loyal and rabid fans who'd do almost anything to see them - and yet, at the same time, each one is sort of a "cult" band that only appeals to a small percentage of the general population. Obviously I realize that they're at polar opposites of the whole rock spectrum. To be honest, I think of both bands as being great for their respective genres, but I'm just really not into jam or metal at all (please don't smite).
I agree that Superfly will try their damndest to get Phish, and I also agree that Phish will most likely decline (sorry guys, just my two cents). All I'm trying to say is, short of resurrecting the dead, I'm not sure there's any band or musician that's too big for Bonnaroo.
I'm really hoping for a summer tour ending festival. And I have no doubt that 80,000+ people would go, no matter where it was. I'd love to make another trip to Limestone. Of course, NYE in Big Cypress would be a MUCH shorter drive for me.
