I brought four 24 packs of water, froze 48 of them and used them as ice in the cooler and then used the other 48 for drinking....when those others slowly melted i threw them in the pack for centeroo
I wouldn't necessarily call it "useless", but I brought a spiral notebook with the intention to write down random musings, weird things I saw, unusual or humorous encounters, phone numbers and emails of the friends I made... I didn't use it once.

I bring one of those to every festival I go to. It'll come in handy one time I promise, and you'll be ever grateful that you did! Whether it's as simple as writing down somebody's phone #/email addy or an in depth self commentary on the day's events... nothing will piss you off more than needing a paper and pen and not having any. I've only used mine once out of the 4 festivals I've gone to, but it was well worth having it just in case

I brought one in 07 and actually used it quite a bit. I forgot to bring one in 08 though.

This may be a sacrilege to some people, but duct tape is not necessary.
So necessary. In 2007, I had a HUGE blister that popped and only one pair of shoes with me - the band aids would not stay stuf - so I finally used some gauze from the first aid kit and duct tape - worked like a charm - all weekend long
Haha. Not Bonnaroo related but I cut myself really bad at work several years ago, with a 10" chefs knife. Thats how I finished that shift. Gauze & Duct Tape.
As far as items I won't bring back .. my stove. I don't know why I bother with the damn thing. We don't usually stay at the campsite anyways.
My first year we brought a shovel in hopes of making a drain around the tent in case of rain, we didn't want a flooded tent ... FAIL (great idea outside of roo).
My brother & I had the idea that we would go for a run in the mornings at Bonnaroo. Yeah right! Those running clothes & shoes were never used & took up space.

I did the same thing in '09. By the time I was even remotely functional in the mornings it was blazing hot. Not a whole lot of motivation either. I did, however, manage to go for a run at Nateva the next year but the weather was much more manageable.

I have to enthusiastically disagree with Gold Bond being categorized as a useless item. Sure, there have been years when I haven't needed it. However, if you get some raunch in the wrong places it can be a lifesaver. I've seen kids doing the bowlegged walk through the campsite on especially hot days, probably wishing they hadn't taken your advice.
I usually shower mid morning, then eat something in camp and head to Centeroo...there until well past midnight, so all I take for food is usually peanut butter, bread, graham crackers...maybe a few tasty items that also are not affected by heat and humidity, and then buy supper in Centeroo.
Useless; I took jelly for the peanut butter first year....it was sugar juice by the second day. I take nothing that will melt, else I'll be hauling ice all weekend...nope, not this roo'er

If you aren't a big drinker, skip the beer/liquor. We brought a ton of beer and it all sat in the car the entire weekend. Way too hot to drink during the day, at night an ice cold beer was great before bed, though.
Man you must be disgusting by the end of Bonnaroo. Those are like the top 3 on my list of things to bring besides sunscreen and water.
Haha, we replaced baby wipes with about 2 water station showers each day (made possible by bringing a hose), I've never been bothered by bugs at roo, and I must have some amazing ability to avoid chafing and other problems solved with gold bond
And duct tape is a must. If you don't need it for camp you can at least make stuff with it on the ten hour drive there.

Or just pack way too much booze and pass it on to me. I will be there waiting, to ease your burden.
Also agreeing on the food issue. When you are jumping from show to show, your tent is a half an hour walk away, all you have at the tent is a burger with no bun, something awesome is about to happen (something awesome is ALWAYS about to happen), and you're exhausted and hot...and there is a stand ten feet away selling burritos or gyros or arepas or delicious fried things or frozen lemonade and it smells like THE BEST THING YOU HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED...yeah, you're going to buy something.
Oh, and you should probably not listen to this because I'm sure everybody else has experiences that would beg to differ, but my useless item - toilet paper. Obviously it's WAY better to bring it and never use it than not bring it and need it, but I never once encountered a portapotty that didn't have any. And if it had happened, I wouldn't have had the TP anyway because it would be back at my tent, so I would totally just pick another portapotty.
I also agree with toilet paper. It's too HOT to use toilet paper for #2... I prefer bringing wet wipes with me to the festies.
