I was just wondering what everyone's coolest, craziest, fondest, most bizarre or most interesting Bonnaroo stories were. It doesn't matter what year, but I'd prefer if it's something that either happened to you, or you witnessed first-hand (i.e. not something you just heard about).
Or, if you don't feel like talking about something unusual, feel free to just write about a really fond memory you have, like dancing in the night-time rain through four hours of My Morning Jacket, sitting under the shade of a large tree and listening to B.B. King, making some cool new friends, spending the night with a random cute hippie - it doesn't matter. I'm writing a short story at the moment, and while I don't need any more inspiration right now, I'm trying to get a broader view of everyone's experience at Roo.
Also, I really am very curious to hear what you have to say. It's Bonnaroo, for crying out loud, and I'm sure you've all seen and experienced your fair share of the wild and the wonderful on the farm.
This isn't really a crazy story, but it is a memory that sticks out for me.
In 2006 I went for the first time, my friends and I were waiting to get into the comedy tent and we started talking to these two women in front of us. They were hilarious. They were really drunk and basically kept us entertained the whole time we were waiting in the line. One of them asked us if we had ridden the Ferris Wheel, which we had not yet but was on our gameplan for the next day. She was so concerned that we weren't going to that she gave us all money to ride the Ferris Wheel the next day. We tried not accepting it but she wouldnt take it back. The first thing we did the next day was ride the Ferris Wheel and witness the amazing view that it gives you.
That is one of my fondest memories with people in the crowd from the past three years.

Tiesto was such a defining moment for me. Seeing that many people dancing in unison in the middle of the night in the pouring rain while there are glowsticks and lights everywhere... it seriously blew my mind.
i also loved that my group and my neighbors banded together to make a superfort within the first half hour of being there.
My fondest memory was the end of 'Karma Police' at Radiohead when the band stopped to let the crowd sing it. I distinctly remember the look on Ed's face as he looked out at us. I've never seen such an awestruck look like that before. He was standing in awe of us Rooers. That moment was the very definition of magic.
Nothing crazy has ever happened to me at Roo. Seriously. This year was the first time I even drank there. There was one guy who came up to me with bloodshot eyes mumbling about losing his flip-flop. It was slightly frightening and all hilarious.
This year was my first year to Roo and although I did not directly have a crazy experience our neighbors had a very memoriable one. Apparently Friday night after our camp had left for the late night acts a large naked and very intoxicated man stumbled through our camp and nearly took out one of our tents. He then procieded to attempt to break into the Australians' van in the camp next door. Our other neighbor, who had been telling us this story, yelled at the guy. At this point the naked guy stumbled twoards our neighbor and attempted to get a little frisky with his girlfriend. Our neighbor got lucky because a mounty was riding buy and hleped diffuse the situation. Kinda funny and creepy at the same time.
like dancing in the night-time rain through four hours of My Morning Jacket
One of my greatest memories at Roo, what a great time!
All my "crazy" stories probably would break the rules for the forums, so I'll go with my child friendly story.
I work Roo, and I was forced to work the day of the Raconteurs show. Now my MAIN goal for Roo that year was to get as close as humanly possible to the stage for the Racs show. When I got my work schedule, I lost it. I tried everything I could to get out of it, but there was no way around it. So about 2 hours before the show, I told my boss I was leaving in 15 minutes, and he couldn't stop me. I was scheduled for another 6 hours, but I had to do what I had to do. So I walked away from my post, expecting to be hunted by my superiors. I walked for about 10 minutes when my boss pulled up in his golf cart. He got off, gave me a dead serious stare and said; "Drive the cart back to the tent, your gonna catch that show because I'm covering your shift"
This NEVER happens in my company. My boss NEVER gets off the golf cart and works, he NEVER lets any regular employees drive the carts, and most of all, he NEVER lets anyone get out of their shift early. Long story short, I got to the very front of the Rac show, and had one of the greatest concert experiences of my life.
Sometime during Tiesto - when it was pouring down rain - we headed to the Disco Arcade - and from there decided that we were way wya messed up and headed back to camp. While walking in the rain - I slipped and fell. No biggie - I did not care.
We walked back to camp and were sitting there when Boz grabbed some wipes and said "here, give me your leg"and proceeded to start wiping the mud off of me. But what makes it such a fond memory for me was I had to ask him what he was doing because in the short 10 min walk to camp, I forgot that I had fallen in the mud - LMAO
My favorite memory is my first Bonnaroo (2006) and falling into a dead sleep near a stage in Centeroo. In my induced state, I was dreaming and groovin' to a great vibe. I found out later that I was trippen' to Oysterhead..... It was so cool and a great way to be introduced to the farm... Lots of good memories since then, including great camping neighbors, fellowship, and peace. See you in June 2009...!

During My Morning Jacket my friend Gina disappeared before the show, and me and friends were watching it until it started raining and they decided to split. I was like hell no im not leaving and worked my way to the side up front after they left. After about 30 minutes Gina walks out from the crowd about to head to Tiesto after dancing in the rain. But she decides to grab my arm and pull me up front and we rocked out in the rain for a good while. Eventually she left, and i just hung around and watched the last 2 and a half hours in the rain. That show was amazing. Afterwards I snuck backstage and gave Jim James a hi5 and said the show was fucking awesome. which it was. Then i caught the end of Tiesto got a couple grilled cheese sandwiches and crashed out. I love Bonnaroo
Tom Morello did a CD signing after his Nightwatchman set, and I (thankfully!) had planned ahead and thrown my CD in the car just in case....so I didn't have to buy one there like 90% of the rest of the people in line...and I also had the thought to throw in his very first CD from the very first band he ever recorded with...before RATM even...a band called Lockup that NO ONE has ever heard of - LMAO! I got the CD on ebay for like $5 or something a while back. Anyway....when Tom saw the Lockup CD he BURST out laughing. I'm sure I was the ONLY person there that had one. He actually said "I don't see many of these...every now and then I'll run across one - and it ALWAYS makes me laugh" then he looked at me and said "Does it make YOU laugh?!" I lost it! ;D ;D Made my entire weekend to say the VERY least!
I'm hopefully going to meet Tom Morello on Thursday. He's doing a pre-show in Indy before his show that night. I met Guster a few years ago the same way.

Even the idea of being close to Tom Morello gives me goosebumps. Aside from the fact that he's incredibly talented and intelligent, he's just damn sexy. I'd totally hit that.
And yeah...I would TOTALLY hit that....if there hadn't been so many people pushing me away in line! LMAO! And I was parked RIGHT under him at VooDoo snapping every pic I could get to the point that he would look down and laugh and shake his head every now and then....I think he's caught on that I am stalking him -
Here's my prized possesion from last year...I THINK you can still get (unsigned) copies on amazon or ebay Jacko even though it's obviously a cut-out....good luck on that...would LOVE to hear how Tom reacts if you find one to get signed! ;D
My fondest Bonnaroo story happened on Sunday. Immediately after Israel Vibration, my buddy and the people he came with decided to head back to Chicago, because some of them had to go to work the next day, and most of them had seen Widespread Panic before.
I stuck around The Other Tent to see Ladytron, and afterwards, I went wandering down Shakedown Street. When I got to the end of it, I debated about going back to my tent to just relax because I was hot, completely partied out, and feeling a bit lonely. I decided it was too far away, so I thought I'd find somewhere to relax inside Centeroo.
As I was waiting at the arch to go in, I struck up a conversation with the really awesome group of people next to me - they took me under their wing and let me hang out with them for the rest of the afternoon. We hula-hooped while watching Plant and Krauss, we danced in the fountain until our clothes were completely drenched. We nommed corn in a little pow-wow at the side of the Which Stage. Then we walked over to large oak tree towards the back... we laid down in the shade, holding hands while listening to Death Cab for Cutie as the sun set over the farm. I'll never forget that moment.
Well, I have two moments which converged and gave me this supreme image of bonnaro; the small scale and the large scale.
On the small scale, I thought I had lost my phone one of the days, but it turned my bum friend just had it in his pocket the whole time :-P , so I wrote on my chinese hat "lost phone bla bla bla" and I was going into some tent and this cutie little hippy girl was like oh you lost your phone! and I was like well I found it! but I was worried I wouldn't find, and then she says oh no this is bonnaroo! you would have got it back or found it at lost and found! then she says oh bonnaroo hug! and that was the moment I was like wow, bonnaroo is so incredibly friendly I love it here!
Then the large scale moment. It was after Metallica or Pearl Jam, I don't recall. I looked behind me. HOLY CRAP I can't see the end...people everywhere! Chills went down my spine and I had some sort of epiphany.
Oh oh oh I have lots from the three years I've been.
Favorites from this year:
Dancing in the rain to the MSTRKRFT remix of Justice's D.A.N.C.E, then grooving on over to Tiesto and seeing one of the best performances of my life. My boyfriend and I were clinging to each other, singing to the remix of Hide and Seek at the TOP OF OUR LUNGS. Everyone was staring, but we didn't care. Then we went to the Disco Biscuits after Tiesto finished and boogied until long after sunrise
Watching my boyfriend blow bubbles with his bubble maker @ Pearl Jam, and knowing he felt just at home as I did
The minute my brother first got onto the farm for his first Bonnaroo (2007...he was 15) and seeing him yell "BONNAROO" for the first time
PESTO ITALIAN GRILLED CHEESES in 2006 they were practically all I sustained myself off of...we went by the place several times a day, and the guy was so friendly and gave us all hand sanitizer every day!
I have more...but I don't want to take up the whole thread

Stumbling into an unbeknown to us mythological shakedown street on the last night of Roo 08. It was so surreal. Bootleg T-shirts. Corn and more corn. I dunno it seemed like denizens came out of the dark waiting to please our every psychedelic whim. Maybe I'm wrong, but this place just seemed totally different than all the other camp grounds. More ghetto. More makeshift. It was located off the main paved road near the concessions. Yes, now that i recall it had a beer can art forest type thing. I've only been to Roo once, but my friend who had been in 07 agreed something was much different. I'm sure someone can shoot down this assumption, but to me every camp was shakedown. Really all the camp stories are the stories i tell if i can tell any at all. You ever get the feeling that when you speak of Roo people don't wanna hear it? I's just known what goes on. The vast amount of fun. I used to be envious too. BONNAROO!!!!
my fav. memory was my first time in 2008. just pulling up to the farm for my first time ever. i could just feel the real world being left behind me for 4 days. i cant wait till 09. i have big plans already. ;D
roo 06...pulling into walmart and seeing a wook with 1 long blonde dread and the reaction of meg when she saw him...she was saying what have i gotten into...
roo 07...friday night late with STS9...what a blast we had...i had a great experience inspired with special cheese its....
roo 08 on sunday morning spun out kid walks thru camp sing free credit report song
This word also has a underground meaning once you break it down. Let’s take “Bonn” for example and it actually turns into the word “Bone”. We all know gays use this word to describe the action of when they are fecal fisting their Cuban cabana boy at their sex bath house parties. Now let’s look at Roo, “Roo” is short for “Kangaroo”.So put the full true message together and you get“Bone a Kangaroo
Not best moment but during Tiesto while being crammed under the tent someone crowd surfing came from behind and ended up on falling on top of me. I had no notice he was coming at all!
It was raining and the wife and I were just outside of the tent. We had never seen the Flips play, hardly even knew about them. Wayne had the full on crowd control going and I was in.to. it. I was hanging on every note..... then.... it happened..... FLASH! BANG! My eyes rolled back into my head.... I felt myself rocking back onto my heals.... I was almost out like a light but I FORCED my toes back to the ground. I looked at my wife and she was looking at me with fear and wonder in her eyes.... like.... WTF was THAT?
Then after the song Wayne says 'OK.... do we still have everybody? Sometimes... that one fucks people up.'
Waking up Monday morning of Roo '07, wondering where one of our buddies disappeared to, then finding him about 400 feet away passed out on the ground using a budweiser case as a pillow and cradling a mason jar of moonshine like a baby

I got three memories that stick out most to me. First has to be in 06, the first time I saw a Bonnaroo mushroom cloud, I was messed up and it totally wigged me out for the remainder of the day.Second, would be the big fat naked dude at Tool creating a hallway through the sea of people. It was truly amazing how fast the people made room for him, and the 50 or so people following him. I for one wasn't happy with the jerks trying to push through 15 minutes before the band goes on, but this dude and the mob behind him just cracked me up. And last but not least, was last year at camp. On Thursday just after arriving we were smoking with the neighbors. Afterwords the dude of the group from Canada starts yelling at one of the chicks. They thought she locked the keys in the rental car. The dude gets on my cell phone, calls the rental company and asks about options and prices for window replacements. He hung up, got a towel and hammer. Then BANG, he busted the window, and to top it all off the keys weren't in the car. They later found them laying on the ground in their tent.

08 was my first year but i live like 20 miles away so i have always been familair with the whole thing so i knew everyone was gonna hang out at wal-mart then head to the farm on wednesday....well me and my bud got a little over anxious and we ended being the 2nd car to get in....anyway after we figured out we forgot a tent and got set up the best we could we started walkin around and found this group of people (some with guitars some with drums) just playin and singin along to a bunch of diffrent songs the one that sticks out in my mind is the sound of shit load of people who dont know each other at all came togethor to sing "What I Got" so loud that you could probably hear it in Nashville....anyway it was definatly one of the most beautiful things i have ever seen.
