Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Hit exalt if someone makes you happy and their Karma goes up one. Smite if they tick you off it goes down one. Also you can only have one smite or exalt per hour. Smiting is generally considered bad form unless someone is really being a jerk BTW.
thanks, now if you explain this whole karma thing to me ill give you my first one of those ever....
Well, everyone starts off with zero karma when they register. Then, if someone makes a post that is informative, helpful, funny, or whatever, you can click the 'exalt' button, and their karma will increase. Of course, you can give karma for whatever reason you want, or for no real reason at all. You are only allowed to adjust someone's karma once per hour, though. Generally, the higher your karma the better, as it's kind of a reflection on the quality of your posts.
Likewise, if someone makes a post that is nasty, mean-spirited, rude or offensive (or for whatever other reason), you can click the 'smite' button, and their karma will go down. Smiting is generally frowned upon by a lot of people, but I see no problem with it as long as there's a valid reason behind it.
The whole karma thing is just for fun, really, and no one puts too much emphasis on its importance. Anyway, welcome to Inforoo!
Thanks to both of you for the info! Ive used this board for a year to help make it through the workday, hopefully the posting will distract me even more from my job!!!

Good 'Roo Stories? I've got a ton of them! Like in '07 playing hearts under a shade tent in the midday heat with a people from California, Canada and Australia. I was finally winning a hand when a traveling, toothless glass salesman came and plopped down his wares down for all to see. I never got to claim my winnings ... damn those salesman. Funniest part was, I had my niece with me ... and the look on her face was priceless. Her first run in with a stinky, toothless hippie dude. Oh, the memories...
Or in '08 when we went back to camp to refuel with some cold beers, and a random passerby came to sit under our shade tent. He wore a red cape and had a dildo strapped over his nose. He called himself "dickface" and I laughed my ass off as I handed him a drink. Because afterall, even the dickman can get heatstroke.

Sunday June 15th Bonnaroo 2008 My last roo memory.
My friend lost his wallet with quite a bit of cash on Thursday night, which kind of put a damper on his first Roo experience. Right before Robert Randolphs Revival took the stage on Sunday I said go check L&F one more time just to be sure. As he walked back towards That Tent I could see he was pretty emotional, I said "no luck?" and he just shook his head and reached in his pocket and pulled out his wallet with every single dollar still in it. Wow! Every show that day was magic. Robert Randolph owned the farm and we celebrated and laughed and had an amazing day. Chain wallet next year Joel you lucky quacker. And much love and respect to the Bonnaroo community who made at least our small group feel proud to be apart of all this at least one more year!
"Love need not be a command nor faith a dictum. I am my own god. We are here to unlearn the teachings of the church, state, and our educational system. We are here to drink beer. We are here to kill war. We are here to laugh at the odds and live our lives so well that Death will tremble to take us." — Charles Bukowski

Ok...Bonnaroo 2003...My friends and I were on our way back to our camp at around 5 AM or so. We end up walking past this RV with a giant sign hanging on it that says John Bell for Mayor. Of course we stop and start chatting with guys that were staying in the RV and taking pictures. Well after a few minutes of hanging out with our new friends one of them says, "Come look what we found!" So we follow him over behind this tent and there, under this tarp, is one of the carts that the Roo staff drives around in. We started cracking up!!! We're like "How did you get that?" and the guy's like "I just stuck my car key in it and it started up!" It was hilarious! So then, of course, we had to take it for a ride! So about 5 of us pile up in this go cart and take off. Well eventually some of the Bonnaroo staff sees us and starts chasing us. Well we get pretty freaked out and bail out of the cart and take off running. Eventually we run up on this group of guys who are still up and hanging and drinking outside their tents. We told them our story and they thought it was so funny that they decided we all had to take a shot together. It was a good time.
Here's the really crazy part.....about a year and a half later my friends and I went to Voodoo Fest in New Orleans. We're standing there watching one of the bands and my friend goes, "That guy standing behind us with the Bonnaroo shirt on looks so familiar!" Well we all turn to look and realize it's the go cart guy!!! It was such a cool crazy reunion!

As last year was my first Roo i don't have a lot of stories that are real adventurous but more memories that i could ever have from any other place on earth. I know i stared smiling on the trip in at 4am on Thursday and didn't stop till we headed out on Monday and that is no exaggeration. Although my buddy did leave me alone during my first show, Robert Marley, and i got lost as hell. I must have walked around ceneer roo 3 or 4 times just to find the arch. Then it took me about an hour to find our campsite that was about 7 min from center roo. I wouldnt change a thing about it though. Loved every second.
In 2006 I was napping on the grass in front of the What Stage waiting for the next act to come on (think it was Beck or Radiohead; can't remember). I had my hat over my face blocking the sun. All of the sudden, I thought I felt something hit my stomach. I took my hat off of my face, looked down, but didn't see anything; so I went back to my nap. A few moments later, I felt it again...
... I took my hat off and saw this guy grabbing a lighter off my belly. Apparently someone tossed it to him, but missed and it landed on tummy.
That's all. It was a hilarious moment.
Oh, and that one time when Tom Petty surprised the audience by bringing out Stevie Nicks. The guy next to me was all, like, "STEVIE MOTHER-F'N NICKS!" and we high-fived eachother. Cooless 2 the max, man.

In '08 my favorite experience was probably seeing Ghostland and having an epic glowstick battle. I was not prepared for the mind quack i was about to recieve.
And of course My Morning Jacket playing Tyrone in the rain.
Great stories everybody - I can honestly say I've really enjoyed reading every single one.
Another fave of mine - the one I previously mentioned was my fondest memory, but my most bizarre experience of the whole weekend actually happened on Monday morning. After I took down my tent and packed up all my stuff, I lugged everything around the campgrounds, looking desperately for where the shuttle bus was. I searched for a solid hour and asked at least 15 staff members, but to no avail.
So, I finally decided I would thumb a ride to the Greyhound station down the road and buy a bus ticket to Nashville instead. About 45 minutes of hearing "sorry, car's full" had passed when a dilapidated 1973 Volkswagen bus pulled over. On the back, next to the Iowa license plate were two bumper stickers - "Legalize it" and "Jesus saves".
Inside was a husband and wife and their three little kids in the backseat. The husband was an unkempt white guy with dreadlocks, wearing nothing but a pair of cargo shorts. The wife looked more "normal", but was still very clearly a hippie. She didn't talk so much, but the few times she did, everything was about holistic medicine, karma, the cosmos, and other topics of that nature. He sat with his foot hanging out the window and talked to me about the shows we saw and our favorite parts of the fest. They didn't even plan to go to Roo, but they happened to be passing through Manchester on Sunday morning and found someone selling tickets by the road for $50 a pop.
She drove and he rode shotgun, while the kids took up the seats in the back. The middle bench had been removed, so I crouched on the floor, next to a microwave, several milk crates full of children's books stacked on top of each other, piles of old clothes, photo albums, toys, jigsaw puzzles and other odds and ends. I figured that they were either compulsive hoarders, or that they actually lived in the van for long stretches of time, and I'm more inclined to believe the latter.
The wife refused to accept my $20 for gas, saying it didn't feel right, but that if I was adamant about it, she would sell me one of her hemp necklaces she had made. I still have the necklace and I will cherish it for years to come as a memento of that truly surreal experience.
Thank you. Oh, and I forgot to mention - even though I only wanted a lift to the bus station, they insisted on taking me to the Nashville airport instead. Just goes to show what awesome people Bonnaroo brings together.
my favorite story was camping next to Amy Grant and her/Vince Gill's kids last year. They invited us to hang out, show us the ropes, make us some breakfast, and the kids even cooked us some corn...great times.
1. In 2003 on Sunday night after the closing act it seemed like everyone was there to stay and nobody was leaving and everyone was just partying with everything they had left. So after playing with a few party favors we heard a lot of people yelling out heckling each other so we all started in yelling out as well but we were yelling out random stuff like get your bonnaroo dirt 1 for 3, 2 for 5. Well after doing this for a little while people started yelling out there own random stuff as well. Pretty soon the entire campsite around us was heckling off random items to each other by screaming into the night. There were all sorts of crazy things being called into the night it was absolutely hilarious. One guy was even offering his buddies buttcrack lol.
2. So in 2007 my GF and I were getting pizza and this guy had a few people kind of gawking at him and my GF was like hey that's Ben Harper and I was like no way that's not Ben Harper there's no way. I convinced her that there was no possible way Ben Harper was just walking around Centeroo like that... Well after we came home and a few weeks later we were looking at Roo pics posted online and leu and behold there it was a picture of Ben Harper exactly where my GF said it was him. So wierd. Moral of the story.. GF's are always right.
that barely scratches the surface. so many good ones. i'll come back when i think of another. some of the best ones don't fit in with the guidelines to this board.
"Disobedience, in the eyes of anyone who has read history, is man's original virtue. It is through disobedience and rebellion that progress has been made." Oscar Wilde (1854 - 1900), The Soul of Man Under Socialism
"You're either on the bus or off the bus." Ken Kesey
"When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro." Hunter S. Thompson
We (my sisters, my sister's boyfriend, a close family friend) we're sitting in the cooled Karaoke tent, listening to the best whom haven't made it( ), and my sisters showed me the Bonnaroo Post(idk if thats the name), and she said there was an article about the Bassist from Umphrey's McGee, Ryan Stasik, and i was reading it and looking at all of the goofy-ass pictures of him, and no sooner than when i put the paper down, i look over after the karaoke song was over and see who else but Ryan Stasik, 40 in hand, standing and applauding... I look to my sister and her boyfriend and yell, "THATS RYAN STASIK, THE BASSIST OF UMPHREYS!!!", and they thought that was pretty cool, and i ran to my other sister and her friend, and me and my sister decided to try to get him to take a pic with us, and he got up to leave and my sister bum rushed him and yelled "STOP!!!"
Luckily for us he was willing to take a couple of photos with us, one that i took of him and my sister that turned out well, and one of all three of us that had no flash that wasn't so good...
it was still pretty cool, and he is a super friendly guy...
Picture from the other side of the tent...
Picture of him and my sister...
And the dark photo i failed at while trying to fix of us three...

I have been to 5 of the last 6 Roos and one of my favorite memories is of walking through Centeroo blowing bubbles. That was great all by its self, but then a really um.. corny.. girl offered me 20$ to blow some bubbles... She took my little bubble wand and blew 1 bubble. then tried to give me the money... I always come prepared, so I gave the girl my extra bottle of bubbles and told her to keep her money. She got so happy she cried. I laughed and laughed... I wish Bonnaroo was here all year... lol

I have been to the last 4 Roos and have many incredible memories. Here are the first two that come to mind.
1. The best show I think I have ever seen was Galactic and Chali 2na late night in 2007. When the show started I was coming down and losing steam quick, but the atmosphere and music completely turned me around for the next four hours. I coulnd not stop dancing and I will never forget that show. It was up against the FLips and Gov't Mule, both of which I was planning on checking out. Galactic and Chali caught me and didn't let go though!!
2. Walking from the What stage back into Centeroo after a headliner has just finish around midnight. I can't remember what headliner it was (maybe The Police) Obviously everyone was already ready for the late night shows!! It was a huge crowd and people kept yelling the most random things. I remember hearing " Has anyone seen my left foot!" It was the craziest moving crowd I have been in.

Well Bonnaroo 2008 was my 1st year and i am waiting for 09 tickets..but anyway a few memories from my first roo includes when me and my friend were packing up and trying to get some profit off the beer we were trying to sell before we go home and we offered this 450 pound plus guy named Raff some beer and he ran and grabbed us by our necks and wouldnt let go..kinda scary but i didnt wanna leave my site until we had him leave but he made us miss BB king which really pissed me off lol..but a roo expierience it was!! another great memory was when we were front and center at Levon Helm dancing our stoned butts off and remember levon pointing and smiling..it sent great shivers up all over my body..the last memory was runnin around all of roo at 4 am the 1st night with a random guy and took shroomies for the 1st time and woke up a few hundred yards from my tent..didnt see my friend till 3 pm the next day
My best Bonnaroo story actually started because of Inforoo. It happened last year... I saw a post from some random guy asking if anyone wanted to caravan to Bonnaroo with him and his friends. It was their first year going...and since it was my 6th year I messaged him and told him my friend and I would love to meet up with them. So we finally leave and make our way there. We almost end up not meeting them and then oddly enough he texts me and we realize they just passed us on the interstate...so we all pull over and make the trek to Bonnaroo. Long story short....this random guy-Landon-and I end up getting along great and hanging out all weekend long and having the best weekend ever-by far one of my favorite Bonnaroo's. But then Bonnaroo ended and we had to go our separate ways-me to Nebraska, Landon to Kansas City. We knew we wanted to hang out more so we saw each other every weekend until October....when he moved to Omaha ;D. So we have been dating ever since and I'm completely smitten and in love. Yay Inforoo!!!!

you probably aren't going to believe this (and maybe it was just sombody else's wallet) but i found a wallet on the ground Walking between Sigur Ros and Ghostland Observatory last year... i was like holy shit this has a fat stack of bills in it. But I thought about how much it would suck if I had lost my wallet and all my CC's and such and took it to Lost and Found.
I was really tempted to buy a beer with the cash in the wallet as a tip... but i didn't ;-)
wow, i had completely forgot about that until just now... holy flashback batman...
