I think I posted this years ago, but I'll tell it again cause I think its hilarious: We were standing on shakedown in 2005 just people watching and this guy walks up and starts talking to us and we shoot the sh!t for a few minutes and then he says hey you guys wanna take some "balloons" with me and we decline, more based on the fact it was mid day and 90-some degrees outside, so he says "cool, wait here I'll be back" so he wanders back up 5 minutes later with this large triumphant blue balloon, sucks down the contents and then says is a very high pitched voice "This isn't NO2" someone had sold him a balloon full of helium. Also a fun past time from last year was "hippie fishing" we put a small baggy of powdered sugar on a fishing line and would throw out into the middle of shakedown and then as people picked it up we would reel em in

being lost late night saturday night 2003. globe of death -> sunrise. flaming lips, medeski martin and wood, antibalas horns, star wars, rain, josh wink, particle, chewbacca moaning, cyro baptista's beat the donkey on the side of this tent, the wizard of oz, peeing on the fence because i was too scared to go in the john, rain and mud, the naked guy in front of particle, sunrise.
In '03 me and all the guys in my camp were walking back to our tents after the WSP set to get ready for the rest of the night. when we got back to our camp there was some random girl sitting right in the middle of our camp assed out with about 3 inches of drool hanging out of her mouth. no one had any idea who she was but she was just sitting there with a freshly packed pipe sitting in her lap. We didn't really want to bother her because we all didn't really have to much contact with reality at the time and i'm sure here mind was somewhere else as well. So we just hung out at the campsite, burning and what not for about an hour and a half or two and she never moved a muscle. Finally after about 2hrs she just stood up and scared the shit out of all of us. she stood up stared into space for about 15 seconds turned around and walked away with her pipe and the hershey bar we put in her hand never to be seen again...

:-[Last year was my first roo, but im an avid Pearl Jam fan. Pearl Jam really takes care of their members of their early fanclub members who always get good seats to all the shows while im usually stuck near the back since I joined later on in life. I stood in line 11 hours to get into the pit for PJ since I knew it was my best chance to get that close to them in my lifetime. 11 hours later Eddie Vedder came out and sang Constellations with Jack Johnson and the line to get in the pit atarted getting ancy and pushing towards the front like crazy. I finally got in after all was said and done. By myself even though I came with 12 people, everybody was off doing there own thing. Smoked and got my face blistered off by Mike McCready's guitar and was fortunate enough to get the pic below. Truly exausted all my emotions...I just felt weak on the inside from my experience. Standing with 80,000 strong...with lighters in the air. Just took my complete breath away......

In '06 my friend and I were back in the VIP section next to/behind main stage. Some dude just started talking to us before/during/and after Beck. He was chill as hell, very nice and intelligent, and he even got my friend and I two rounds of drinks. He then says he's gonna go get his spot for Radiohead and walks up the stairs to behind the stage and dissappears. Fast forward a few months and my friend and I are randomly looking through Rolling Stone at a bookstore and there was a picture of the dude who we were hanging out with.

Haha I have a few. Friday night for the late night sets I picked MSTRKRFT and Tiesto. HAd an awesome time at MSTRKRFT, danced and jumped got crazy for hours. Power walked to Tiesto in time to have a nice poopy spot right at the edge of the tent. Water was dripping on me nonstop, people were pushing and shoving into me while I'm standing in a quacking mud puddle and I make it about 20 minutes before I decide I'm too far to stay at this crowded show, I'm about to lose it. I start power walking through the rain back to my tent, sunglasses dangling on the edge of my nose, and I think Hey, I know a shortcut through Centeroo. Well a shortcut ended up taking me about 20-30min just to find the exit. Finally I get out, and have another 30minute walk to the end of the farm for my campsite. Get back to my campsite so relieved, and I can't get the tent open!!! I see 3 of my friends sleeping off some fungus inside, and I start trying to wake them up. I couldnt find the zipper on our tent, and I was convinced I was locked out of our tent. So I yelled until they finally got up and pointed the zipper out to me lol.
And who else remembers Eddie after all the lighters got up, "Oh wow, I didn't know people went back that far!! When I thanked the crowd earlier I wasnt talking to you, I didn't know you were there. So thank you!!"
Last year at Bonnaroo we had this crazy neighbor, he was always loaded up on corn. He was super nice though, always trying to give us beer and coke. So we'd leave for the day and he'd be in his one-man tent just staring at the sky, and we'd come back late afternoon and he'd be in the same position. He would see us, get up to sit in his lawn chair and tell us all the stories of the amazing bands he saw. I asked "who did you see?" and he could never remember the names. They were just amazing, rockin bands. This went on the whole weekend. On Saturday, he tells us he saw God. As in the man upstairs. God told him the meaning of life---to just be nice. Good advice, no? Later that night as we were leaving to go to more shows, he's laying in his tent, I tell him bye cause i notice his eyes were open and all he says back is..."sleep with the light on."
Anyways, my theory is that he never left his campsite to see one show. He was the coolest neighbor ever, though.

My favorite bonnaroo stories wow this could take a while but here it goes try not to get bored lol Bonnaroo 06- my favorite memory has to be the wind storm we had on saturday morning. Me and my group were just sitting there under the canopy having a few brews and were talking about how nice it would be if it could be a little windy. All of a sudden a huge breeze goes through our site tents start rolling like tumbleweeds then it stops. Were looking at each other like wtf! Then it goes to the next site and all of a sudden tents were like hundreds of feet up in the air!!! It was so friggen hilarious! Bonnaroo 07- My favorite memory had to be on the thursday night when I saw rodrigo y gabriella at one of the tents. The set was so intimate and just incredible listening to there pure awesome talent! During the set they play wish you were here by pink floyd and everyone was singing it word by word while they were playing it on there guitars....it was so amazing and harmonious it just totally gave me chills. Bonnaroo 08- I had a few hilarious memories one being watching a bunched of spun out hippies trying to mosh while metallica was going on, and my other favorite moment was during the robert randolph set where he did his rant on Kanye West! The whole rest of the day I was going around randomly screaming Kanye sucks! haha gotta love it!

ok, so in 2007 me and my friend are eating breakfast on saturday morning with our neighbors.. Tool had just played the night before and were fucking amazing. all of a sudden this kinda cute, very disoriented girl walks up. she looks rough. not like crazy rough, but rough like she has been up since thursay night and has done waaayyyyy to many drugs. she really needs to rest but she has absolutely no idea where her camp is. she said she wandered her after dj shadow to find a party but ended up just getting more fucked up with random people... Remeber the first song Tool played, Jambi, and ow they had fire all over the screens? Well we ask the girl if she watched Tool, and immediately upon our question, she screams, OH MY GOD, OH MY GOD, THE FIRE WAS SOOOOOOO SCARY, JESUS I THOUGH I WAS GONNA DIE!!!!!..

I dropped acid at 2008 before I went to see Pearl Jam. Eddie Vedder turned into a chimera onstage and I woke up the next morning I woke up behind the porta-potties next to a dismembered body.

Dancing in the rain to D.A.N.C.E at MSTRKRFT last year and then Tiesto, all of it ...during Tiesto, getting offered a certain letter of the alphabet because I let someone use my guidebook for apparently illicit purposes (didn't realize it until I saw it!)...Disco Biscuits at 6 AM...ahh...it was a good night

Mine is kinda cheesy, but this year I took 3 Roo virgins with me and on the ride home they all gave me a hug and thanked me for bringing them the best experience of their lives. It made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. But besides that, dancing with people at MMJ's late night set and trying to explain to a clearly intoxicated person who Kirk Hammett was.

i have to say my favorite bonnaroo moment would have to be the James Brown set in 2003. There were these two older black ladies in walkers who went through the mud up to the front to see him. Everybody let them through so they could get right up front. That was my first time at bonnaroo and i know this place was the truth. I just remember looking to my buddy and saying these two ladies paid 150 bucks (yeah that's how much it cost that year, damn increases) to see James Brown.

I don't have any long stories or anything since I was just feeling out the vibe on my first outing, but I have an extremely fond memory of taking a nap in the field of the What Stage while BB King lulled me to sleep. I also met Brian Posehn while walking to see Mastadon, that was pretty random.
3/24- The Greenhornes 3/31- Queens of the Stone Age performing Queens of the Stone Age. 4/27- Arcade Fire w/ The National 5/19- Primus 6/09-6/12- Bonnaroo! 6/13- Ray Lamontagne 7/04- Florence and the Machine with fireworks.

i think you made it more "relevant" than he intended to. Probably was only put in bc they were going to see James Brown who is quite legendary and became popular in a time of a lot of racial tension. I would feel like African-Americans hold James Brown closer to their hearts than I do.

In 2006 we camped next to a few kids from Wisconsin that were really fun, but one stood out to me and I felt as if i knew her from long ago. So we get to talking and it finally clicks and I say "you're Joni's kid right?" She looked at me for a second and said omg you're Danny!!!! Our moms went to high school together and we had known each other since we were very very small.
So saturday i get seperated from the group and phones aren't working so i go see Radiohead solo. As i'm walking up here she comes....she too was seperated from her group, we spent the rest of the night together and it was just like when we were little.....complete bliss
it had been 12 years since the last time i saw her
