i think everyone who is expecting the Phish - Dead - Bruce headliner trio is way off base..
bonnarroo is now a destination for people from all over the country, with a large variety of musical preferences.. the organizers will without a doubt hope to draw in some people under the age of 30, and the lineup above just isnt going to do it...
i do expect Phish to be there.. which i am fine with.. while not a diehard, i have seen them in the past and had a great time.. i do think that the other headliner slots will most likely be of the non-jam band variety...
something like phish, jay-z, rem, the white stripes... is probably more realistic... (and better, IMO)...
Most of the under-30's your talking about won't spend 4 days at a music festival. Most people who go to Bonnaroo are MUSIC FANS and probably appreciate Phish, the Dead, and Bruce Springsteen.
Friday: Bruce, Phish- Late night Saturday: Phish Sunday: The Dead
in my fake bonnaroo schedule i have it like phish/the dead are co-headliners. sat. night the dead plays the normal headline slot then phish plays main stage late night. sun phish plays and the dead closes out the festival.

Alright, so I'm really holding out on some Keller, in any form, his last date on tour is May 23rd but Keller with Moseley, Droll and Sipe would be super straight....but either way I'll check it our when he comes in town.....that and I'm hoping for Derek Trucks back, especiallly since he just put out a new album

this idea interests me.
it's kind of like ac saying hey, some of the best festivals ever were the psych-folk fests where the dead were present and the phish fests. Let take these two huge things, combine them and then pepper in sick acts like volta, ween, sigur rós, etc, etc, etc and see what happens. and it'll be really great if the dudes from the dead/phish are just on the farm for two days. imagine all the insane impromtu jams that will occur.
tom morello with tool? bad freaking ass.
trey jumping in with volta for a half hour jazzy salsa freakout? i dont even know what could be said. so many minds would be blown.
Fantomas is working on a new album, and the projected release is in June.
that would be awesome. secret chiefs 3/ fantomas in a tent.
It's a lovely thought, but Patton is probably not going to be seen near his former Bungle bandmates anytime soon. Too bad, because for me that would be the reunion of the century.

secret machines 3 is going to be a waka the week before so ? hummmmm cr****
if there is anything i can speculate on.... bonnaroo never holds a complete pattern. every year something is different. last year was the first time a headliner started as late as 10 and the first time the main stage was used as late night. i think that just because phish is going to headline two nights doesnt mean we'll only get two headliners. something will be different this year like a thursday night headliner or dual headliners (someone playing what and which stage at same time during headliner slot). bonnaroo expands its limits every year and i cant wait to see what crazy shenanigans are in store for 09.

nah, it's not as bad as you think. lately patton has any been saying there is a chance for a reunion. i doubt they hate each other so much that they wouldn't play on the same stage.
like a thursday night headliner or dual headliners (someone playing what and which stage at same time during headliner slot).
imho the sound crossover from the stages wouldnt work to well...unless somehow phish sync up with the dead by sound and started playing the same song on different stages

they have bands playing those stages at the same time all day, why would it be different at night?

bands do play all day..but these are headliners...they need their own spot..imho...if im gonna see an epic set such as the dead or phish..no matter how epic/face melting the other set is...i dont want it crossing over...idk..my opinion
dr. dog is not big enough for a clue. i went back a few pages and couldn't figure it out.
I agree that Dr. Dog isnt the answer, but I don't think you should discount any bands for these clues... especially for a reason such as they are not "big enough". it's been speculated more than once in the clue thread that the clues will lead to more less known artists this time around because the headliners were guessed so easily last year.
"While nothing has been officially reported, rumors of the 2009 Coachella lineup are starting to surface. Set to go down April 17-19, we've heard for some time that Blur, Faith No More and Morrissey will headline. And according to The Tripwire (who got their news from Consequence Of Sound), the following acts are also confirmed for this year's fest:
Portishead :: Coachella 2008 by Dave VannThe Airborne Toxic Event The Bug Buraka Som Sistema Crystal Castles Drop The Lime Fleet Foxes Flying Lotus Girl Talk The Hold Steady The Killers No Age Noah and the Whale Late of the Pier Los Campesinos! Peanut Butter Wolf The Presets Sébastien Tellier Themselves Tinariwen In terms of rumors, here's what folks be talking about:
Britney Spears Animal Collective Basement Jaxx The Black Keys Four Tet Glasvegas José González Outkast The White Stripes Neil Young
Truth be told, no one knows who will play for sure till the folks at Golden Voice make the official announcement. Consider this a teaser with no guarantees. "
Unless the Stripes and Neil Young are playing (both would be headliners over the current 3 headliners IMO) that is reeeeal weeeeak.
"I want you to notice When I'm not around You're so fücking special I wish I was special But I'm a creep I'm a weirdo What the hell am I doing here? I don't belong here" -Radiohead
“Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.” -Benjamin Franklin
For those who may not know, "I Believe I'll Dust My Broom" is a tune by Robert Johnson. Don't know what to extrapolate from that, but I'm sure that's what our friend was referencing there.
