I was the one who argued that they will be there and got tons of smite for it. I only knew they were first because my good friends father is their main sound guy (thunder audio)
This year I hear that the Red Hot Chili Peppers are going to be at Roo 09, I havent seen it on this board yet but I got word
I remember that. Someone else had a friend that worked for A and O mounted security and were told that they got extra security for Friday night and that person was attacked also. So hay this ought to be fun. But anyway my bests friends cousin was a sound guys girlfriend and told me that Skidrow is getting back to together for Bonnaroo 2009.

Let the bashing begin
I actually had a dream the other night the RHCP was playing Saturday and Cake closed the show for Bonnaroo. That would be awesome if it actually came true.
I hope Ghostland Observatory comes back because Douchye made me miss them. GO, Chali2na and Against Me! were the shows I was the most upset about not seeing. The friends I went with were taking there sweet time, by the time I was ready to go they were still just sitting around, I would have gone by myself but they wanted me to wait so we wouldnt be lost for the whole day. I got there for the last 4 songs or so and it was great, short, but great.

Someone else also said that they heard Jack Johnson would be headlining a night, which turned out true at the time. It really is hard to cypher what is true or not until after the fact, but there has been some truth within the muck.

^^^All the same, we should try to keep this thread confined to just solid rumors or confirmations. Speculating should be done elsewhere. Wouldn't you agree, Jay?

^^^ I have no link to it, just a guarentee to the RHCP by word of mouth as I did with Metallica before they were brought up, I was the first to know about them as I am first to know now. Mark my words! I rather see links too actually
Dude...given the limited amount of major acts capable of headlining Bonnaroo, there's always been someone who was "right" about "a rumor they heard." Last year, there were also people absolutely convinced The Dead, RATM or Zeppelin would be present. I remember a couple years ago, Arcade Fire had one of the biggest group of people who felt they would be playing Bonnaroo that I've ever seen on the boards. There were people predicting The Police would reunite on these boards as soon as Oysterhead played. There were people predicting PJ would play two years before they actually did. Same thing applies to Tool, which a small percentage of people on the boards claimed to have a good feeling about.
That is to say, a feeling or word on the street, can be right or wrong, and just because you were right one year, doesn't make you 100% about it the next. Especially when it's still October. Especially when you're talking Bonnaroo
maybe the jack white les claypool jam ive been dreaming about for the past 4-5 months
What makes you think this will occur? I've never heard anything about these two crossing paths before, let alone get together for a jam session or playing an actual gig? Just curious.......
Especially when it's still October. Especially when you're talking Bonnaroo
LOL! Except that they book the headliners...oh about nowish for next year. They had both PJ and Metallica booked - or at least in serious negotiations by end of Oct of last year.

In fact it was a September or October spill by Jeff Ament when he spoke to a college class in Seattle that revealed the Roo negotiations...
In both those cases, there was more than just speculation. People like to take credit for calling Metallica, but nobody called Metallica before the news report leaked on the net that they and Led Zeppelin would be the 08 headliners. And the PJ rumor came straight from a band member's mouth.
Further, let's not forget that THE rumor leading up to last year's Roo was Led Zeppelin...which of course, didn't happen despite Superfly's best efforts.
I'm not saying you're not going to find credible rumors this early, I'm just saying people sort of selectively forget that there were strong rumors of Rage Against the Machine, some form of Pink Floyd, The Dead, Led Zeppelin and R.E.M. at this time last year, and none of those rumor turned out to be true. I'm sure at this point, Superfly's in the process of narrowing down their sites on the top of the bill, but I seriously doubt anything's a lock right now.

I hate to burst your bubble but i really did know before, i already gave my source in this same thread. People get so mad when others know before them. ;D

i highly doubt it will happen....key word....dreaming

Not to sound mean, because that's great that you knew, but you have to realize that on these boards we get about 89327489237589327598237 people saying "My best friend's dad's friend's cousin's dog's sister said that Such-and-Such band is confirmed for next year"...just because they want to take credit for it when it happens. It leads to a lot of us being skeptical.
The other day on a bus I heard an older guy saying to his friend something along the lines of:
"So Jack told me the other day that those bozos got Dire Straits doing a co-headliner with AC/DC for one night at some music thing in Tennessee next summer"
They bashed AC/DC for a couple minutes then changed the subject. Not that I put too much into this, but just thought I would relay what I heard. Weird, I know.
