so.. a harder rock band... that is "funky".. and very possibly sort of electronic?.... interesting...
he hasnt shot down the rage talk at all.. altho there is nothing electronic about those guys.. are the gorillaz or portishead big enough to take the saturday night slot? im not so sure..
hopefully its not the chili peppers.. that would be terrible.
Also, if it happens to be Radiohead, they're touring South America with Kraftwerk.
So, yea, if it's Radiohead, it would more than likely mean they come with Kraftwerk... but would they fit at Roo? I dunno how old, minimalist electro/krautrock would be handled.

Portishead would be great, but I'm not convinced they are big enough to headline Bonnaroo, especially if their co-headliners are such acts as Phish and The Boss. I mean, those are some giants to stand next to. And remember, headliners of Coachella have been known to be non-headliners of Bonnaroo.
Gorillaz I could see, because they've been on hiatus, have a new album in the works, and perform live so rarely. Anyone know if they have announced any tour plans?
OutKast again would work because they are huge and have more or less sworn off performing live. But for both acts that same reason makes them unlikely.
Radiohead... nothing needs to be said about that. Personally I wouldn't expect them back just yet, and also they are likely to be at Coachella. But if the clues fit...

Public enemy with special guest anthrax!! hahaha...
but seriously i cant think of anything that is modern and funky besides: R.H.C.P. R.A.T.M. Gorillaz Outkast The (original) Meters (not heavy...really) NIN (Alot of the stuff i've heard from them is SOLID, but idk if it fits "funky" (you just gotta get away from the stuff they played on the radio) I consider STS9 to be very funky and heavy. Phish is very Phunky and Heavy. Maybe he's just fooling with us and they are playing saturday headline/saturday latenight and Sunday.

Has A Perfect Circle been ruled out yet? Not really my thing but I know that there were a lot of Roo fans who prefered them to Tool.
Edit: Nevermind, they are on his list. As are pretty much everything we said (including Gorillaz, who I thought were going to be the final answer here).

Beastie Boys put on one of the best shows i've ever seen at langerado. I think everyone is SEVERELY underestimating their power over you dancing. Its inevitable.
you cant tell me that if it was Bruce Friday, beastie boys into phish Saturday, and then phish all night sunday wouldnt be the dankest top end lineup EVER. 06' is comparable with radiohead, Phil Lesh and friends, and Tom Petty.
AH! Just the fact that we are in the right frame of mind regarding those groups makes extremely excited.
You better not be lying to us edgecrusher, now you've got my hopes all up.
Can you at least tell us if the name has been mentioned yet? Not just in the post I quoted, but in this thread? Because earlier you had said it had not been mentioned yet. Just curious if someone has said it since then...
has edgecrusher been back online? if so, He's avoiding my question. Which I will take as a yes. =D
I'm sticking with muse as my guess. although Gorillaz makes some sense too, but I doubt that one.
