BamaJam is the weekend before Roo down in my neck of the woods - southern Alabama. I bought a day pass for Saturday last year. Lots of the bands playing that Rock/Alternative stage that day were at Roo. The lineup is really centered on country, but the stage I hung out at last year was:
The Wood Brothers (played Roo) Marc Broussard Railroad Earth (played Roo) Yonder Mountain String Band (played Roo) Gov't Mule
Bands lined up this year so far include Black Crowes, Los Lonely Boys, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, JJ Grey and Mofro, Shooter Jennings and The Whigs. I think it's likely some of these will be at Roo 09. I don't think we'll be seeing Brooks & Dunn.
I would love to have Marc Broussard visit the farm! I think he'd be perfect for a 2-3ishpm Firday afternoon set. And if that lineup for Bamajama is any indication I'd LOVE to have The Black Crowes come back (didn't go till '07) and Los Lonely Boys would be groovy too.

I caught his Roo set in 04 and it was pretty good -- good enough to encourage me to catch him on his own in 05. Will Hoge opened for him and just owned the stage. I'd like to see him back this year.
Does anyone know how Will Hoge is doing after his accident this summer?
From his website:
"So I’m hoping this post finds you all well. Enjoyed all the holidays and new years extravaganzas your little hearts could stand. Things were hectic here but good, thanks for asking. I was waiting to post until after I met with the doctors and had an idea about what the next few months may hold. I’m going in for another surgery on the 19th. A bone graft from my pelvis to fill in a gap in my femur. Then another lovely knee to hip scar to insert a steel plate over the whole thing to hold it steady. Metal, then bone, then more metal. This is totally gonna ruin my male leg modeling aspirations. As if it weren’t tough enough to get work in the pale- ass- chicken leg category now I’ve gotta hope for luck in the pale- ass- chicken leg -looked like you were attacked by sharks category. Great, guess I’ll have to go back to rock and roll. The doc’s don’t seem to think it will set back my rehab much and I’m hoping they’re right. Just because we love you and want you to be first to know it looks like there’s gonna be a handful of shows in April. When I say ‘handful’ I mean like little tiny baby handful. This is NOT the WIll Hoge Comeback Rock Tour. These are gonna be a few smaller acoustic based shows. Really just me trying to get out and fall in love with playing live again. Sort of like spring training. Getting used to singing again, playing again, riding in Thor again. Having to deal with Siggi and Adam and Sean again……..oooooh boy, that’ll suck. In all seriousness, I’m just hoping we can have a bit of fun. I’ll probably still not be walking so the shows will be seated and I’ll still be using a cane. Keep the friggin’ “House” jokes to yourselves thank you. It’ll also serve as a tightening up process for trying to go back in the studio and fininsh the new album in May. Then we’ll see how I’m feeling/doing and go from there. Again I appreciate all the kind words and support that y’all have continued to show. It makes this process much easier. I guess that’s it. My best to you all. See you soon."

I guess this is the best place to post this information. I'm from D.C. and I've been to Roo for the past 2 years and I've noticed that D.C. is the stop right before or after Roo for a lot of the lineup. I've looked at the schedules of the Black Cat, 9:30 Club, and the Birchmere but their schedules don't go out far enough. I'll keep checking though to see if I can figure out some of the last few bands that Superfly holds out on.
As far as my own speculations go, I think Thievery Corporation is long overdue. I think we'll see either Santogold or Lykke Li. Lastly the Decemberists have an album dropping in March so I wouldn't be surprised if they show up again.

I personally love the Decemberists and would be psyched to see them, but the crowd wasn't that into them last time. Everyone was just hanging around waiting for the White Stripes. They may have not had the best 'roo experience.
they could play thur. night. or maybe they could have their own little tent fro thur. and fri. couldn't be there all weekend becauzse they have to go to orlando.
:-[Anyone know if Gogol Bordello is rumoured to come back? That is the party show to end all shows!!!!!!!!!!!!
I doubt it. Not many acts have played three years in a row and they actually played two sets last year if you count the SuperJam. It may be a fallow year for them.
June 10th they're in Europe; then a break until July 2 when they're back in Europe. Hmmmm! Could he do it? Is that enough time to make the festival?! Remember, June 10th in Europe is, like, June 9th in Tennessee! That buys him an extra day
no shit! that man is a stallion of epic proportions...
i feel bad for any woman he's ever been with...
woman: wow that was great, bruce! bruce: i ain't done honey... here comes my first encore! woman: OH MY!
(30 minutes later)
woman: wow... you are a stallion... thanks for a great night, bruce... bruce: wait? you think i'm done... have you ever been to one of my shows?! 2nd and 3rd encores are coming up next Bitch! uhh uhh uhhh uhhh uhhh ;D

Sorry it has taken so long to get back to you guys. Things are crazy from what I hear in regards to final bookings with it being less than a week away from the initial lineup. Many of you have been speculating between two main bands as the final headliner. Well...it is a band, but they are only a backup. I have reason to doubt that it will be rhcp or ratm...and I'm going to leave it at that....
On a side note, I really hope that AC comes through for me and adds m83 this year. I saw them on Conan O Brien last night and was totally blown away. I stayed up all night listening to them. They are currently opening for The Killers on tour right now...I wish I had found out about them sooner!

This really makes me think it is NIN . . . as the band is really only a "backup". . . Trent Reznor is NIN . . . but having seeing them five times and the stage setups they comes up with, this would be a hell of a show for Roo.
Do you guys think they will try the "two headliners" on one night thing again? I think it would be great if one night that phish played there was a headlining caliber act play before them like Jack Johnson played before Pearl Jam last year. I think this would be a great way to have phish headline two nights but still have three headliners.
