Wow, just wow. I would take any 5 of those guys at bonnaroo and be happy. Also Infected Mushroom and Tiga added. What sweet electronic act don't they have? WOW! God I wish i could afford this.

Also, anybody else disappointed that the stages are now called "The Bayfront Stage" and the "Mid Park Stage"? Last year they were "The Rabbit Hole" and "The Drum and Bass Stage"...it sounds too generic and watered down.
Oh well, can't complain...the lineup looks badass. I am seeing some serious conflicts though! Above and Beyond at the same time as Crystal Castles, Pendulum and Tiesto at the same time, Infected Mushroom and Boyz Noize?

yep yep yep. phase II of the lineup, as always, brings it hardcore. i <3 me some pendulum, booka shade, and mandy. day 2 is so insane; that's where the bigtime conflicts would be for me.
i'm still not 100% to go cause i'm poor and just bought my roo tix, but holy fuck do i wanna.

I'm so ready though. ;D
wait? where's the break down by stage? and I'm assuming you are just assuming how the schedule will work out?

The lineup at all the stages is amazing. I'm feeling conflicts galore. Last year when I went I wasn't *as* into electronic music as I am now, and the conflicts didn't bother me. But my poor boyfriend was freaking out: "I have to choose between Armin van Buuren and Sasha and Digweed?"...the hardest decision I had to make was cutting out part of BT to see Justice! But now I understand how he feels...Tiesto or Pendulum? So many conflicts!!!!

I'm not really into trance, so that cuts out a lot of the conflicts for me right there. Friday should be good conflicts wise, but saturday could get bad. Luckily I'll most likely be seeing Deadmau5 fri so I can miss his set if I have to and I will be seeing SMD in orlando on thursday, so that's another one i will pass up if I have to, but seeing as they are one of my favorite groups, I'd really rather not have to miss them. but I will definitely be at Prodigy and Moby. And David Guetta on friday.

this is right when I'm planning on taking a vacation. I'm sooooo tempted but trying to resist this year as I'd like to actually see someplace I travel to and not just go to a fest every time.

Damn. Armin Van Buuren Vs. Sasha & Digweed would SUCK. God I hope we get Deadmau5 at bonnaroo.

yeah, he would fit in perfectly, i quite like the mau5. if i went to UMF he would be the main reason.

I am really worried about missing Simian Mobile Disco, I really want to see them. Also, I've put off seeing Deadmau5 TWICE so I really don't want to miss him either.
I missed Moby last year at UMF because I shut my finger in a porto door (yeah...that was lots of fun). All the paramedics said was, "We can't do anything but take you to the hospital", and of course I paid $500 to go to Miami, I wasn't going to spend it in the hospital! So most of the time during Moby I was searching for ice and recovering. So I'm DEFINITELY not going to miss Moby.
Also, YOU NEED TO BE AT DAVID GUETTA. Some shots of his show last year:
It was SO HOT in there because there were like 982739827359872398 people crowded into the tent, and spilling out. It was AMAZING.
(The second picture is from behind me, and we were about halfway back)
Here's a video when he played Toca's Miracle...CRAZY:

Thanks for the pics/vid Bama. David and Moby are tied for my favorite DJ's of all time. I CAN NOT WAIT.
I'm really glad DG is on friday, I was afraid he would play on saturday again and just add to the many conflicts.
Quick question, what are the crowds like? do I need to worry about showing early to be in a good spot for a set, or are the crowds fun no matter where you are? and how big of a crowd do the headliners get? thanks.
Post by bamadancer on Jan 11, 2009 17:56:30 GMT -5
The crowd for the headliners gets fairly big (the festival is about the same size as Roo), but you can get fairly close pretty easily. It's not as packed-in as it is at Roo. We were able to get pretty close for Justice last year (coming up RIGHT as their set started) and then stayed for Tiesto. We pushed towards the front and had no trouble getting really close. The only thing was it was SO VERY HOT in the crowd (I dunno, could've been my state) and I wound up taking off my dress and just dancing in my bikini!
The crowds really aren't that bad, I was able to be relatively close at almost every show I was at. Some shows (like David Guetta...thank God he's on the main stage this year) in the tents you may need to get there early, because they really get packed out for the big acts.
I'm uploading all my pics/vids to my new computer right now, so when I get them put on youtube I'll post them! Just wait till you see the video of Justice mashing "We are Your Friends" and "Smack My Bitch Up" together. MINDBLOWING.
man this looks so sick i gotta make the trip to miami...but the real important question for yall espically past attendeees is will tickets be plentiful friday morining at gate or do i really need to get now? will they sell out? by noon-2pm friday ?? please let me now....man the pordigy is gonna tear this upppp
1) There were still tickets available last year. It didn't sell out. I wouldn't worry too much. 2) We're flying, it's too far of a drive. We'll probably fly out of Atlanta though, it's cheaper that way. If you get your tickets now, it's not too expensive.
Also, the boyfriend and I are thinking about going to VIP. I'm just worried the amenities are not worth the price.
You guys feel free to ask me anything about the festival you want! Hopefully I'll have some inforoo buddies this year!

I think I've figured this out just by looking at live videos and such and seeing the time of day they were taken, but is there no rhyme or reason to the scheduling? it seems that way. So I should not assume at all that the order of acts on each stage has anything to do with timing... correct? The only things I feel confident in saying is that Fri main stage will be BP -> Tiesto, and sat main stage will be Prodigy -> Paul Van Dyk (does Paul always close the main stage?). Besides that all I can assume is the Carl Cox will close out his tent both nights.
Post by bamadancer on Jan 12, 2009 12:19:08 GMT -5
Paul Van Dyk always closes out the main stage. Tiesto will close out on Friday. Carl Cox will close out his tent on both nights.
Basically the order that you see the acts put in on the email that was sent out will be roughly what the schedule will look like. The crappy part about Ultra is that you don't know the schedule until you GET to the festival. So you kind of have to haphazardly plan who you want to see.
