i believe i heard somewhere that at rothbury they handed out some sort of little ashtray for your butts that you can stick in your pocket, so that the ground wasn't littered. i just can't picture what this thing looks like and i think i want one of these surprisingly useful items.

My boyfriend has one of those. I found a bunch on Amazon pretty easily.
^ Those are cool! I think I'm going to get one for my husband. He always puts cigarette butts in his pants pocket when he is at work. He works in people's homes and he'll go outside to smoke and instead of walking to the outdoor garbage cans he just slips them in his pocket and then of course forgets to throw them away and I find them in my laundry.
At roo he kept an empty cigarette box in his pocket for butts.
I keep thinking of more things.... Ziplock bags! Keep your Bonnaroo Guide Book/Map in one!!!
Not only your guide, but... camera, wallet, cell phone, lighters, cigs, "other" water damageable things... I always keep at least 5 or 10 of these in my pocket at a festival or outdoor concert... and when it rains I become very popular
At VoodooFest they were giving these away in the American Spirit tent... maybe at Roo too?

Oh, I use them for everything, too! I just remember the guide specifically because by Fri night, so many people wanted to borrow our guide, because they would throw a water bottle and it in the same bag, and by the end of the day the condensation would have ruined it.

Throw in a pair of earplugs. They help if you camp near Centeroo (VIP) and are also great if you take a mid-day siesta. Plus they block out the sound of beer snoring.....

I was SO thankful they sold earplugs at the Centroo general store, they literally saved my Bonnaroo experience b.c I'm a very light sleeper and I wouldn't of gotten any sleep if it weren't for these! I'm making sure to pack them this year
Yes! I have several pairs of Etymotics, which I use for concerts, but I can't sleep with them b/c there's a small plastic piece that sticks out of the ear. I bought a container of those foam earplugs and they proved invaluable in sleeping through what I thought was going to be Kanye on the main stage. Hee Hee.
Whatever you do, bring a light 99 cent pancho and Zip Ties are the bomb. There was a joke at our camp of writing a book on 101 things to do with zip ties. You would be amazed,

These look great! I can say almost definitively that they haven't had them in the American Spirit tent at any Roo I've been to. I woulda been all over them!
My one story regarding pocket cig butts --> At Roo 05, right up front for the DBTs and they start fuc*ing killing it! I've never been an earplugs guy, but I was getting pounded on the Isbell side of the stage. Soooo, I stuck some butts in my ears. Worked like a charm. I'd recommend it to anyone!

This is totally my method too! TONS of baggies.
That said, a word of warning to folks: lots of baggies can arouse the suspicion of overzealous security folks. Be careful, lest you look like some festie pusherman who might be worth a REAL search, that could result in other things being found.
If you have a five day cooler filled with ice...don't dump the ice as it melts. Get a solar shower, which holds 5 gallons and dump the water in there. I showered everyday and didn't have to lug water back and forth from camp. I used every bit of water that melted from all the coolers in the shower. It worked like a charm. This year I'm doing dry ice tho, so I'll have to go another route.
I know it was mentioned earlier but it's only $4. Great way to meet friends if the ground is hard! Also jumper cables, esp if you use your car to charge a couple of cell phones!
Hands down the single best thing i brought last year. It's useless out doors, but when you are in your tent and want a nice little breeze to cool off or to keep that stifling morning air moving, they are IDEAL. I bought one at Wal-Mart that runs off four D batteries and lasted me the entire weekend and then some.
"We're no longer called Sonic Death Monkey. We're on the verge of becoming Kathleen Turner Overdrive, but just for tonight, we are Barry Jive and his Uptown Five. "
Caution Tape, I wrapped it around my tent/canopy lines so nobody would trip over them. Even in the dark they were visible and I dont remember anyone tripping over them.
A bucket. To pour all of your used water (for cleaning and such) into so that you don't have to pour it on the ground and possibly step in a big muddy puddle of dirty water.

Lifesaver! It was nice to sit with it in my lap while back at camp, too.
