Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I think Phish, coupled with a strong undercard, could revive the old 'roo.
Only if Phish can jam so hard they reverse the rotation of the Earth and send us back in time to when every theiving wook and drunken frat guy in a 700-mile radius hadn't heard of Bonnaroo.
Let's not forget that Superman did that to save Lois... don't count out Fishman
well, if Phish headlines, I won't be seeing them, but whatever. There's tons of bands on a lineup. I mean, I couldn't care less when WSP was announced for last year. The only beef I would have is the 2 nights of Phish. Festivals are for seeing a bunch of different bands. If you need that much Phish, go to one of their own shows. Just my opinion
Some karma for being a sensible fellow Winnipegger.
^I trust a music magazine that employed Hunter S. Thompson his entire career. Really this made up for anything bad they have will do in my book.
Don't get me wrong, I think they have some great political articles every now and then (even if some of them are more than a little biased. I don't like McCain, but that article on him seemed like an opinion piece trying to disguise itself as truth). However, this is also the magazine that has put Jennifer Lopez and Britney Spears on the cover. The magazine that has the Jonas Brothers album in it's "Top 50 of The Year". The magazine that put that obnoxious "Low" song and songs by Fall Out Boy, Ashlee Simpson, The Jonas Brothers, and that god awful "I Kissed A Girl" song in it's "Top 100 Songs of The Year". When you have magazines like Paste and Magnet that truly care about music, it's just hard to look at Rolling Stone as relevant any more

John: We don't even understand our own music Spider: It doesn't, does it matter whether we understand it? At least it'll give us . . . strength John: I know but maybe we could get into it more if we understood it
One night of Phish would be cool. 2 nights, I'm not so sure, unless they weren't the headliners one of the nights. Late night jam would be a good thing.
I'm fine with them playing two nights, but like I said before IN MY OPINION I'd rather they play ONE headline slot, and one super-long latenight slot. You Phish fans will get an extra couple hours of hearing them, and we non-Phish fans will get an extra "headliner" on the main stage one of the nights. I consider it win-win all around if they do things this way.
As for:
"There will be as much variety in the 2 shows Phish plays as you will get the entire weekend seeing many different bands"
I may not be well versed in the ways of Phish, but are you saying that Phish alone has the diversity of all the bands that could possibly be at 'Roo put together? Last year I checked out Sharon Jones, Against Me!, The Sword, Talib Kweli, Pearl Jam, Tiesto, and Alison Krauss to name a few... are you saying Phish alone will span this diversity? Because if so, then by all means bring on the Phish. I kind of doubt this could be possible however, so I'm going to assume you've gotten a bit fanatical. Anyway....
All we're trying to say is that we want diversity in our headliners. The beauty of Bonnaroo is that if you don't like something, there's usually something else to check out. I'm fine with ONE night being something I don't really care about, but forcing TWO nights of the same band headlining blows. That's why I want their second set to be latenight, at least that way I'll have something else to check out.
/before you smite me, please realize I didn't say anything negative about Phish, just that I personally don't want to see them twice.
Absolutely, I'm saying Phish will span that diversity. In the course of one two-set Phish show, it is not uncommon for them to span multiple genres. You'll hear elements of jazz, bluegrass, rock, blues, funk, prog-rock, psychedelic rock, reggae, carrbbean calypso, and it just starts there. There is the chance for them to cover Zeppelin, Robert Palmer, Velvet Underground, Duke Ellington, ZZ Top, Deodato,The Mustangss and the list goes on and on and on. Phish is one of the most versatile bands that has ever played. Bar none.
Their ability bridge the genre gap is unlike any other band I have ever seen play music at Bonnaroo, or anywhere else. They have a unique, inherent ability to blend multiple genres into a seamless format.
The drew annually to their big festivals, like Bonnaroo does to its own. This is because Phish has the ability to wrap all these different genres into one format, allowing people from all walks of life to come in and find themselves at home within Phish's music. What other reason would 80,000 fans trek to Maine for one band? I assure it was not for the NO NO WORD!!!!.
I understand that if you have never seen Phish, you may want to see them play only one show. But please understand you are in the minority here. There are countless thousands of fans who have supported Bonnaroo from day one, who have pined, yearned, hoped and prayed that one day Phish would set foot on the farm to play. These fans aren't the type of fans who see one show and go home. These are the type of fans that see one show, and then travel to the next..
It looks like that day has finally come. After 7 long years, and incessant rumors that Phish would play the first, second, third, fourth Roos. It looks like this rumor has finally come to fruition. It is a confluence of two heavy hitters for the jam scene. And Whether you like it or not, Bonnaroo is grounded in the jam scene. Yes they explore diversity, but they are firmly grounded in the jamband element, and Phish is the biggest jamband this side of the Grateful Dead.
FWIW, I would never smite someone for a discussion. It is in my best interest to explain to people where I am coming from and to try to do it in a way that others can understand where I am coming from.
I stand here today to tell you that 13 years ago Phish changed my life forever. I would never have gone to Bonnaroo, and I would not be typing these words on this board today if not for them.
Please give us the dignity of allowing us to rejoice in our 7 year wait.
There it is... the elephant in the room. Why don't you like Phish? The Phish fests of the late 90's paved the way for the Bonnaroo experience. This alone is reason enough to give them 2 nights (though I'll certainly take a late night slot... I just think you should too). Outside of that, you should be excited with us! Most people who don't like Phish I find simply haven't heard a lot of it, and what they did hear was the wrong song in the wrong circumstances.
Do this for me: Obtain the album "Rift"... I don't care how. Listen to it with some nice headphones while you work out / sip a scotch, do whatever you do to wind down and give it a real shot. Then, whether you liked it or not, get the album "Junta" and listen to that. Then just go ahead and get the rest of them so that you can sing along with the rest of us come June.
i don't care if they paved the way for bonnaroo or whatever. their music is still terrible. that's why i don't like phish. i had a friend who went through a phish phase and made me listen to many of their studio albums and live shows and it was all just annoying. it's not that hard to understand how people don't like them. it's just not some people's cup o tea.
chill at camp and get ready for latenight. the only headliners i was really excited for in the three years i went were radiohead, dmb and phil. it didnt bother me. i just hung out and relaxed for latenight. theres going to be so much on this ticket that theres no need to complain about one band. sorry. if tickets for their tour are as hard to get as hampton then this is an even better thing.
I really don't think Superfly will give Phish two spots, but I wouldn't be surprised if they end up jamming at 4 AM at Which/What Stage without telling anyone after/before they play their scheduled slot. I don't think Superfly would have two slots for them, especially because any headliner at Roo typically plays alone, right? So if Phish is a headliner, and they are scheduled to take the stage twice, then there's just another empty slot for the not-so-diehard Phish fans.
I'm down with the idea of two nights for Phish as long as it doesn't force Superfly to book less acts. I'll simply go somewhere else when Phish plays the second time, unless it's a spur of the moment thing like I said above, that'd be sweet. Imagine being somewhere besides the Phish show at Roo, you'd pretty much have the whole farm to yourself!
All you Phish fans need to relax, honestly. Your trying to force your musical taste onto others, and that sucks Replying with "maybe you should goto lolla" or saying Phish doesn't need any explanation simply because it's Phish is just silly. First, screw lolla, seriously. Second, there are alot of other successful and innovative bands out there, Phish is not the greatest band to grace this planet with their presence. I know your not saying that, but that's how it comes off to people. Oh and it's a little annoying telling people that Bonnaroo wouldn't exist without Phish. I know, we all know, we're all proud that you know, and I hope Phish knows it. But that has nothing to do with the MUSIC. That's what I care about, and I want to see as much of it as I can when I'm at the farm.
P.S. - I love your passion, I would be the same way if Richard Wright had not died and the rumor was Pink Floyd rather than Phish. I'm just letting you know that some of you are being a bit overzealous and sounding like the stereotypical-douche Phish fans that are on the other boards. This is big news, but I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for other bands like alot of other people on these forums.
i dont see anyone trying to force phish onto others. basically just saying give them some respect. they deserve two shows. they can start at 8 and end at 12 just like a normal show.

I have to argue this because I believe it:
You should like Phish more.

Nice. Karma.
Give a man a phish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to phish and you feed him for a lifetime.
