Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
There are a lot of people around here who have only been to one or two Bonnaroos. Oh, you like Metallica and Pearl Jam, so you decided to check out the festival last year? Great. I'm glad you had a good time. But guess what? Bonnaroo is going to return to its roots this year and jam out. You don't like it? GO TO ANOTHER FESTIVAL. I'm sure Lolla will have some headliners you like (and there will probably be three of them). You already go to Lolla? Go to Coachella too. Phish playing two nights at 'roo is an homage to the fact that they are the band that made the festival possible.
There are a lot of people who left this community last year after the line-up came out. A lot of roo veterans dropped out and went to other festivals because Bonnaroo deviated from earlier years' jam formats. Hopefully, two nights of Phish will bring these people back. Bonnaroo used to have a vibe and an atmosphere that was parallel to none. 80,000 people on the same wavelength grooving along together. Last year, however, Bonnaroo was a strange amalgamation of different kinds of people. There was a much higher rate of d.ouche bags per capita last year. Maybe you were one of them. But now, with Phish playing two nights, Bonnaroo can return to its previous glory. There will crunchy granola heads everywhere. Thousands of people won't get robbed like they did this past year. And order will be restored to the world.
There are over 100 bands at 'roo every year. Why flip out because one band (who happens to be the biggest draw) gets two shows? I sat through Metallica. I sat through Tool. Now I'm getting those hours of my life back. Go ahead smite me.
As I've said before, I'm not really a big Phish fan. I would say I'm a casual fan at best. Never been to a Phish show, only have like 2 Phish albums in my catalog, and they aren't part of my regular rotations. But Phish at Bonnaroo sounds perfect to me, because it will bring the old crowd back.
My thoughts exactly.
Well, not exactly.
Phish is my favorite band in the world ATM.
But I'm one of those people who went in 2002, 2004, and 2007.
I went to Langerado last year instead.
Now I've already bought tickets for 2009 and I CAN NOT WAIT!!
FWIW I don't care for Tool but I watched and thought it was an OK show. I still had a totally awesome time that year.
Even if you just hate Phish, which I find hard to believe from anyone who actually enjoys Bonnaroo, you'll still have fun.
Bring a Towel! Don't Panic! Ford Prefect is still here!
Actually - I am amazed at most of what I have read here
We have the Phish fans (and yes - I said Fans because I think the whole ph thing is downrigt silly and childish) that think Phish should have two nights
We have the people that may or may not just like Phish that say it is too much
We have the Phish fans who swore off of Bonnaroo that all of a sudden are gung ho about Bonnaroo again.
It is really amazingly amusing that all this is going on over a RUMOR. Sure it was on RS.com and MTV picked up on that and mentioned it. But - STILL - just a rumor at this point. You should all know that nothing is set in stone until they release the line up and even then it is subject to change.
Who cares if they are there for one night - two nights or all 4 nights - there will be 100's of other bands to see and lots of other stuff to do - after all - it is still Bonnaroo - not Phisharoo.
Me - personally - I'll go see them - I might like them - have to admit that I have not heard much - but I like Trey (this I know) and I searched youtube last night and watched about 15 videos of Phish live doing various covers and with special guests - it looks like it would be a fun show. - If they are there - I'll give them a chance.
Downloaded some of their most recent shows, and I think I'd enjoy it. I'm going to definitely see them if they're at Bonnaroo, for at least one of their two rumored sets.

im in the same boat. however, i plan on listening to a lot of phish in the coming months to get up to speed. from what ive heard, i like them. i look forward to the phishy vibe...
its a rumor but its been a pretty strong rumor since a couple weeks after they announced the reunion. mr miner's had summer tour rumors as well as some people on the oh kee pa. phishthoughts.com/

Regardless of whether Phish is there or not, it still won't change the fact that I won't be able to afford Roo... so unless somebody is generous for my birthday and/or graduation, or if that prostitution career pans out, I guess it really doesn't matter for me.
So, I guess deep down I also hope it's not true just so I don't have the risk of missing Phish AGAIN. The Hampton fiasco was already disappointing enough for me. But if I was definitely going at this point I'd be all about them playing twice, maybe even headlining twice. I mean, I'd rather have two headlining nights of Phish than say, Metallica and WSP, or maybe The Police and Tool. Catch my drift? It's still an improvement from years past, in my opinion

This is exactly why we should be having a lengthy discussion about Phish. The line-up is not set and stone, but I'll be Superfly already has plans for what they are going to do with Phish. Perhaps, after reading some of the comments that have been made, they will alter their plans to accommodate their audience.
But, I would like to reinforce one of the points you've been trying to make throughout this thread - that being that this is still just a rumor. Everyone on this board went apeshit yesterday when that Rolling Stone article came out. I'm going to venture a guess and say that whoever wrote that article doesn't know anything more than we knew a week ago. He probably came here looking for some rumors . . . which perhaps led him over to PT, where he read the posts from half a dozen people claiming to have sources confirming Phish at 'roo. He also noticed the handful of people claiming Bruce to be the other headliner. Fifteen minutes later he is finished with work for the day, and we all all buzzing about the same information we had to begin with, reaffirmed by someone with credentials.

LOL - ^^^this is it exactly
And as for the "ph" stuff - it's fine if other people want to use it - just don't expect me to and don't smite me because I think it is silly. My daughter goes to a daycare called Wee Care and in every note sent home they say Wee instead of we everywhere in the note - it is pretty silly - really.
Hey, Beau, what's your opinion on this? I didn't quite catch it.
Funny how these are the same people that were worried Metallica and Kanye would bring douchebags to the farm last year. You're proof there's douchebags in every crowd regardless of musical taste.
Funny since I was more than happy that Metallica and Kanye were going to perform and I attended both.
I like how you give your opinion and when people don't agree with it you won't shut the f uck up about it.
i personally love the idea of phish being at roo, basically because you get to see them in a festival setting...more than likely, should they do their own fest, it will be up north somewhere, and i wouldnt want to have to travel from tx to say ny just to see them at a fest...also, tx gets a total of like three shows per tour (as opposed to like a bajillion for colorado, cali, and up north) so there is no guarantee of actually scoring a ticket on their tour, should they come to tx
Has anybody thought what would motivate Phish to play Bonnaroo? I know many have mentioned it's an easy, large payday, but there's always more than monetary reasons.
Phish has been away for awhile. Even though their fanbase is still strong, no band can remain viable over the long term without making new fans(phans?). Bonnaroo or any other large festival is an excellant opportunity to expand their legions.

Well, in all fairness you seem keen on continuously voicing your opinion as well man. I'd rather see opinions on why Phish shouldn't be at Roo than opinions insulting members here.
The reason people are going "apeshit" is because this is a message board and it's meant for discussion (and it's a realistic rumor)
My point was that we've now racked up 10 pages of posts in a little more than 24 hours, and it is entirely possible that we have the exact same amount of information we had 3 days ago. People think that because Rolling Stone published something on it, that the rumor is suddenly way more credible. When, in actuality, it may be the case that they have the same sources we've been referencing on this board for weeks. I bought into the Phish rumor a while ago, and I'm not trying to dissuade anyone from believing it, nor am I trying to discourage fervent discussion. I'm just pointing something out the fact that our actual "hard data" (if you will) on the Phish rumor might not have changed in size.

I'll voice my opinion about something, just not 18 times in the same thread. Not saying he can't have, or shouldn't voice his opinion just don't shove it down our throats.
I also agree with him, I'd rather Phish play a headlining spot and then play a latenight slot but we know that isn't going to happen. Just don't keep repeating it over and over.
Second post in here I pointed out that the reliable source close to the band was nol13 . I wonder if this might have been leaked on purpose to encourage ticket sales?

well then, I am taking back all my karma I gave him! ;D
