while your theory most definitely would work, phish.com is where the hampton news came about. From there you would probably be automatically redirected to a video similar to when Hampton was announced

Yeah it was scary times when people apparently liked what I was sayin around here... I was about to start praising Kanye's musical talent while saying Jerry's one of the most overrated musicians of the century. I'm glad I didn't have to resort to that.

Ihad hoped to see the dates when I awoke. In the past, it was pretty typical for a noon or 2 pm announcement. I think Hampton was such a special thing they made an exception and dropped it in the wee hours of the night.

Amid a flurry of rumors about a Phish summer tour, it appears that at least one date has been confirmed: June 18 at the Post-Gazette Pavilion in Burgettstown, PA. The show will mark the band’s first stop at the venue since July 29, 2003, a show many consider a highlight of that summer's tour.
The Burgettstown date falls just days after the conclusion of the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival, June 11-14 in Manchester, TN, lending credence to the rumors that Phish will be headlining the festival. Could this show be a sign of a Northeastern swing after Bonnaroo? Stay tuned to Relix.com for updates.

I've had those dates booked at the Alpine Lodge for a month
I just called the Asheville Civic Center since PT is rumoring that Phish will be playing here, and asked them when Phish tickets went on sale. Instead of blowing me off the guy said that in the next week they would know when tickets went on sale.
Therefore, it is confirmed that Phish will be playing Asheville!!!

I feel like Phish tour announcement and Roo lineup (or at least announcement of Phish headlining) would have to happen around the same time. **This is of course assuming that Phish will be playing Roo.**
Think about it:
Phish announce their tour. Either they
a.) Have the Bonnaroo Dates listed b.) Have a gap where the Bonnaroo dates are
if A.) happens then we know they are playing. IF B.) happens then we will still speculate that they are playing Roo.
If we get neither Roo dates or a gap during Roo time......then sadly the rumor was probably wrong.
Either way i'm interested in seeing what happens. GIVE US A LINEUP ALREADY!
