^^basically what happened to me. I was trying the single ticket route as well, bc i knew getting a pair would be impossible. There's probaby 10,000 tickets in the hand of scalpers right now. Until they make it illegal to scalp tickets on the inernet (or anywhere else) its always gonna be like this. They have automated computers bombarding the systems. That's why the sites can't handle the traffic.
I saw a thing on tv. This ticket resale company has an office in India where all the people do is type in the security word (the thing that's supposed to make sure you're an individual buyer) . These people just sit there and repeatedly type security words one after the other, while they program fills out the rest of the info. It's sad to think that you're on the phone frustrated as hell, trying to get tickets for your favorite band, and you're going up against automated machines. You're not gonna win.
Edit: This is why Bonnaroo is the Balls
see this is sad. and what's even worse is there are plenty of ways of building programs to stop this kind of activity (im a programmer). the only reason why these companies don't pour money into that kind of thing is because frankly they don't care. they just want there money and there happy to get it any way they can. there not gonna spend the extra few hundred thousand a year to pay people to build protection against this kind of stuff. it's just plain sad. if only the bands had more control over this. if phish could sell the tickets themselves you know damn well every phishead would be celebrating right now that they got the ticket they needed
I was lucky enough to get knoxville. So I go that going for me, which is nice.

Actually, bands CAN guard against this. I'm not sure if this was the case with every Waits tour stop last year, but in Dallas, you had to have the credit card you purchased the ticket with to get into the venue. You simply swiped your credit card at the ticket taker station, and your ticket stub printed out of a hand held scanner they had.
The show I went to it was willcall only, after you got your ticket you were escorted inside, and there was no reentry.
I wonder how much it costs Pearl Jam to run their fan club? We've been members for a number of years and you order your tickets then pick them up at will call. Lower fan club membership numbers, better seats. Never been disappointed, plus you sit with other fan club members which I think makes for a better show. Wish Phish would do that. Tried for Deer Creek, Fox & Alpine and totally shut out. Hate to give business to the scalpers but as an old phart I feel like an idiot standing in the lot asking for a "miracle"!
"THIS WEEKEND'S ONSALES 02.01.09 We have heard from many fans regarding this past weekend's onsales, particularly the shows that went on sale via Live Nation's website. Many of you experienced extremely long wait times, error messages, and quite simply, an inability to get through and purchase tickets. Clearly, the system was unable to handle the extraordinary demand. We're very sensitive to making the process of getting Phish tickets as straightforward as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your continued support and patience."
I would love to see them at the Fox in St. Louis, but it's a small venue for them! And besides I wasn't online when they went on sale. I will see them if they are at 'roo for sure! Never saw them in concert, but enjoy their music and vids.

heres my plan, first hire a russian botnet operator to take down the ticket servers right before they go on sale. then coordinate breaks in the attack just long enough and at an exact times to send in my buyers, rinse, and repeat. cash money cash money.
actually i think they already kind of did this to take down the captcha server for hamptons
Anyone who tried to get Knoxville tickets will agree that the homegrown site they used was a million times easier and better run than LiveNation OR Ticketbastard.

yes, but that show didn't sell out until almost 6 o'clock. It did do a better job, but it had far less hits as well. Knoxville is a big venue for Phish in Tennessee. Tennessee is a slow draw for phish to begin with, UT will be in summer session and the kids will be home, and Knoxville is not a big city or even close to a major city. So there's a little bit of difference there.
I'm not defending livenation, but you have to understand they fielded the requests for the bulk of the most difficult shows of the tour, in the major markets. Knoxvilletickets.com handled the easiest show of the tour, the one that took the longest to sell out.

I'm going to be so depressed if this whole "Phish at Bonnaroo" thing was just one huge cruel false rumor.
I'll say it again, I think this was Superfly/AC's plan from the outset.
As long as I've been a Phish fan (13 years now), I can not remember a time where summer tour was announced and went on sale in January. IT was always late february or sometime in March.
I think the whole early announcement was part of Superfly's scheme to sell out Bonnaroo 2009. The plan goes something like this:
Book Phish to anchor your Bonnaroo lineup. Have them announce a tour leading into and out of Bonnaroo, but don't announce Bonnaroo with the tour announcement. Have Phish put all the shows on sale the last weekend of January. Sell out every Phish show of the summer tour 2009 on the weekend of the on sale dates. 3 days after the shows sell out, announce that Phish is playing 2 nights at Bonnaroo 2009. Sell out Bonnaroo 2009.

shrewd indeed certainly will guareentee a Bonnaroo sell out just hope it isn't to quick I have no money now for a tic. My restaurant's been closed for 6 weeks, no paychecks for me gonna suck to miss out on 'roo because of a quick sell out. Not to meantion it being my only chance to catch Phish I'm sure this year. woe is me...=-( Also to me seems like a very tame (as in not many dates) Phish tour...not really the monster I thought (and needs) it would be. I mean they've been gone and many have been waiting and they do what 11 shows + Bonnaroo for a summer tour thats pretty weak and most are smaller places. Although don't get me wrong I would much rather see ANYONE in a smaller arena but it just doesn't seem like they are trying to satisfy the Jones...maybe there is more to come
I don't care what you say about me, just spell my name right---P.T. Barnum "As I was walking up the stairs I met a man who wasn't there He wasn't there again today I wish to God he'd go away."
and this has been said enough....but when it comes out that Phish is playin 2 nights/sets its is going to be a clusterduck as far as tickets go. They already released that press release that apoligized for the ticket situation...and i know ALOT of us had problems and got shut out and when it comes down to it...if Phish is playing...the rest of the line up wont make a bit of difference. People are paying twice the price of a roo ticket JUST for Phish...whew this is gonna be craazzyy...
^^^^^^^!!!! yeah it's starting to make me nervous. i think im gonna have to try and divert some funds from something to get my ticket when they go on sale! mark my words. This Will Be The Fastest Sellout Of Bonnnaroo. just put 2 and 2 together. both nights of alpine valley soldout out in a couple hours. most of the tour soldout in 1 to 3 hours. all of these people that got shutout are going to be buying tickets to bonnaroo. all of these people that didn't get shutout are going to be buying tickets to bonnaroo. this show will sellout fast kids. i tried for about 45 minutes to get my great woods ticket and only landed 2 lawns once and then they soldout. ALL of my friends were trying just as hard as me and not a single one of them got tickets. be prepared. but on a brighter note. the Phish roo show will be one of there greatest and most likely one of the greatest on the farm as well. not only are they going to be getting all there fans that got knocked out of there tour they will also have many many more skeptics that aren't big fans. these are the shows that really shine with Phish. when the world is watching Phish never dissappoints. expect surprises. expect shock and awe. expect your face to be completely melted. and not only will these shows be amazing but i have a funny feeling phish is gonna bring some new strangeness into centeroo. it only makes sense with there production companies sharing members and the way that they built that sunken city during IT. expect some strange new additions to Centeroo this year. it's gonna be crazy. bring your dancing pants kids. this years Roo is gonna be one of the biggest.

The Ten Club is the best fan club in the world. The way Pearl Jam treats their fans is incredible. I managed to get 20th row for a Tom Petty concert simply because Pearl Jam was opening.

It's embarassing, but I've never actually heard any Phish music until the past month or so. I recently gave them a try and I love alsolutely everything!

You're forgetting the last part...Sell out Bonnaroo, announce second half of summer tour including festival in Maine in August. Watch everyone dump their Bonnaroo tickets on Ebay.
