i cant post it there because it is now appropriately locked but i thought this quote fitting for the end of the "is it just me or are phish fans.." thread....
Wagner's music is better than it sounds. Edgar Wilson Nye
Just because something is well composed and played very skillfully does not mean it is going to sound good to everyone.
I really hope they have that kind of light show at Roo. It's amazing.
oh, they will. Kuroda will melt your face off for sure.
I keep on hearing it is gonna be a 3d show Friday night like Les did New years. I cant say I have heard any one thing that makes it verifiable, but I have heard a lot of small things that keep on whispering it in my ear.
Honestly the one person who owned the printing company that was trying how to fit 3d glasses into the info books is the best I have so it is just a rumor, but boy does that not make a lot of stuff start to fit into place if it is the case. Including why they are the Headliner Friday night and might play unopposed.

Well I heard it from a random dude at a small festival so it must be true . That is how it went down though, I will say he did not strike me as a liar. Plus he confirmed Hampton, but it was at a time when I felt pretty solid about it anyway so who knows. It would be the shisizzle though if it goes down.

That sounds quacking awesome! I hope you're right.
Didn't we already decide that every concert that anyone puts on is in 3-D?
Hmmm - so you have an inside line with the band and you know that for sure? The fact is - the band paid for the police and the police did their job - whether it was to crack down on illegal merchandise or not - they also cracked down on illegal substances - so - Phish paid for people to get busted - plain and simple.
I know this is way, way, way, way, way old, but I really feel the need to comment on it, as I wasn't around the board for a few days..
Meg, this is an awful way of putting it. Just terrible. Phish payed for a police presence (which is not uncommon for large bands to do, btw) because they knew for a fact that those shows were going to be completely insane as far as ticketless people, fake tickets, logistics, crowd control, and yes, even druqs go.
But to say that so smarmy like you know why the police were there and you know Phish wanted to bust heads, is, well, shocking to me. The fact you'd come in here to basically rub it in peoples' faces saying to the effect of "Well, there's your hippie band for you! Bunch of narcs, if you ask me!" is really off putting, especially for you. I like you, I've always liked you, and yeah I'll continue to like you, but the lack of respect and even real truth in your post make me shake my head a little.
I thought you were better than that.
I have to agree brother the bitterness is wrongly directed. Now I am no advocate of Police states or anything like that but it was a wise move on Phish's part to get in the extra Police for what could have been a major problem. Not sure if this has been mentioned but Hampton has had difficulties in the past with crowd control during the late eighties with the Dead. I remember one year a bad gate crash with people throwing garbage cans through the glass. I was out deep in the lot, having not been able to get a tic for one of the three shows that year, with some friends when all of a sudden this swarm of Police comes through the lot and clears everyone out..."leave your vehicles and clear the lot". We were able to get back in after the show by blending in 3with those walking out....... oh and then of course it rained but by then we found some hippies to party with at one of the hotels lining that street.

you and I need to go see the late night together. I want the exact same thing!

dude. that was probably one of the highlights of the night for me, honestly.
I just remember standing there listening to the guitar rise during 2001 and everyone in the coliseum's hands are in the air, some people on their toes cause the music brought them that high, and then just like that the music dropped the funk and everyone got down and grooved. And then it happened again. and again. and again...
That they give you glasses and have 3d screens. What I heard in September last year was that this guy always did the booklets, and that he was gonna have issues trying to insert the 3D glasses for Phish at Bonnaroo. I took it with a grain of salt then, but since have seen the same rumors posted around. This could be completely bogus and one guy with a story or not. He did confirm Hampton but by then it was all but confirmed anyway. That is the extent of what I know but I feel if it is true it does put some puzzle pieces into place.
But to all the newer people to Phish, if you are trying to get a better feel for their live stuff, pick up the Clifford Ball box set. Mine finally arrived here from Best Buy, and I'm enjoying it now. 7 dvds for $50, and its great footage. The packaging is pretty cool taboot (taboot).

yeah you know i keep hearing this rumor too. and the same way. from people who predicted hampton and summer tour long before it was announced. i've heard no legitimate sources though. but to be honest with you, as intriguing as it sounds, i really don't like the idea. i'm excited for kuroda. and unless they've got some sweet new technology up there sleeve, i think i could do without some 3-d glasses. i'd rather just soak in the scene and enjoy the vibes of the show as well as be mesmerized by kuroda's wizardry with my own bare eyes.

"When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro." Hunter S. Thompson
^^^^^^ I say fuck the 3-d. Phish does not need any more gimmicks. as illy says I rather soak in my surroundings and the mesmerising light show (if close enough) that is guaranteed to insue.

also mentioned on a local radio station, something along the lines of "at the hampton reunion this weekend police officers seized over 1.5 million in "stash."
Phish covered the Dead when they were still in the gestation stage of finding their own sound/fans once they started getting popular and started writing a lot more of their own original work, the covers became few and far between. I think the last Dead song played by Phish was Terrapin Station on 8/9/98

I thought that was funny.

in light of this whole phish paying to have cops at the show... is there any chance that they will pay to have more cops at bonnaroo?? and if so where would the cops be allowed... only outside or possibly inside too? i don't know i just got freaked out because of this article: www.nme.com/news/phish/43337 .. and how they mentioned bonnaroo in it.
