Plasticpepper, that site is awesome! And pretty! Good job!
I was thinking about the clue about keeping our ears "big and open"...and it ends in "ho ho ho...ho"...maybe somebody talking about bitches and hos? Haha. Jay Z? I dunno.
i think the "ho ho ho... ho" thing just meant that more clues would be given after christmas.

Thanks to everyone who liked the site! And thanks for all the karma, too.
The AC/DC referring to mixing two kinds of music COULD work. It is vague, but since the clue said "someone who is AC/DC" it sounds like AC/DC should be an adjective of some sort. To be honest, bisexual still sounds like the best fit to work in the sentence and make sense. But I do also agree with those who thought a clue based on sexuality was sort of odd. I don't know!
I apologize if this has been mentioned, I don't always read EVERY post (I know, let the smiting begin), but could the AC/DC mean an artist that plays (or mixes) two distinctly different styles of music? Thoughts anyone?...
11/2/19: Tool 5/17/19: Blues Traveler 5/9/19: Tool 11/10/18: Tenacious D 9/20/18: White Denim 7/23/18: Radiohead 6/4/18: Jack White 5/20/18: Tool 5/18/18: A Perfect Circle 5/18/18: Alice in Chains 5/6/18: Blind Melon
i certainly respect everyone's opinion.... but i REALLY don't think the clue has to do with sexuality. it's not only odd it's kind of inappropriate. i can't imagine that the artist associated with a clue like that would appreciate it....
and, lots of people seem to jump to the conclusion that somehow the first clue MUST have something to do with a headliner....
i would go into logical fallacies but the semester is over......

this thread makes my head hurt or whatever.....
here is the thing though - and it has been mentioned before
the clue reads "but someone who is AC/DC isn't in Europe."
whichs points to AC/DC being an adjective describing the "someone"

did any of last year's clues reference someone's sexuality? i mean, do we only reference someone's sexuality when they are gay? i just think it's odd to trivialize that part of someone's identity.... it's in poor taste or whatever...
i just don't agree.... just sayin...
i think we need to keep digging....

Some people put things in their songs. Like I said earlier Joan Jett is bi and she had a song AC/DC and is playing one festival in 2009. So that depends on the artist. Not referring to them as gay or bi but to there acts or songs that may be referring to it.
Yeah, thinking AC/DC references someone's sexuality is weird and doesn't make sense. But trying to find a band with 4 O's in their name or a band with a member born on Bon Scott's birthday is much more logical.
My guess is Ani Difranco. Not big enough to be a headliner, has played 'roo before. And her sexuality definitely plays into her image/music. I don't think it's Bowie because that would be silly to give a clue for the headliner right off the bat.
could this mean a person who was once in ac/dc that is no longer an ac/dc member....
Simon Wright was once apart of AC/DC, now is apart of Rhino Bucket. They apparently have a record coming out in 2009
Chris Slade was once apart of AC/DC, and was once with Asia. He is no longer apart of them either, but Asia is rumored for another album, after just putting out one last year.
Mark Evans was once apart of AC/DC and now plays with Dave Tice, who played a show as recently as Dec. 21st in Wales.
Dave Evans was once apart of AC/DC and now does his solo thing, but he hasn't done a show since Feb.

This one clue and leaving for awhile is not good. I dont know what happened last year, but did they all come in bunches, or were they spaced out like this one.

Ya'll are off base on the sexuality thing, as I said before, I really don't think they would use an artist's sexuality as a clue to the fact they were playing the festival. Last year there were clues that refrenced lyrics of popular Bonnaroo performers. The White Stripes played in 2007 and although they didn't play the song, the lyrics to "Astro" include the line "Maybe Edison is AC/DC." I think the fills in the blank perfectly; and I'd bet my bottom dollar DjjD is a Stripes fan.
Edison is not exactly a big name. In fact, I'm sure most of us have never heard of them (I haven't). But they would not throw us a clue this early that lead to any name high up on the bill.

They tended to be in spurts, I think. Usually if we were getting clues, we'd hear a few in the space of a few hours...and then a few days off. Or at least that's how I seem to remember it. So we'd basically spend a few days working on a handful, and then we'd get new ones to distract us.
Edit: Yeah, I really like the Edison idea too. You just stole some of what I was about to say but it does fit MUCH more with the general style of clues. Last year the clues usually referenced the artist's name. Over and over we came up with complicated things but in the end, the only definite answers I remember were name references. And yeah, using the lyrics of songs we'd know - we've definitely been there, like with "clouds taste like this."

^^ (BonnarooDetective)I definitely agree that djjd probably isn't going to be giving out a clue for any headliners right off the bat, if even, but I don't think he would give a clue for a really small act either...one that no one has heard of.
And I stand firm on the "not about sexuality" cause I just can't be convinced that djjd would make us look into someone's romantic preference......so maybe we should compile a list of all the different ways ac/dc can be interpretted
Buuuuuutttt what ever happened to She & Him? Someone mentioned this a few pages back, was there a reason it was shot down?
Pepper!!!! That site it awesome!!! Mad karma for the effort you put into it, I favorited it immediately, it's gonna be so helpful!!!
*Edit*As we can see, I did not go home for Christmas...
AC/DC- Australian rock band AC/DC- Alternating Current(electricity flowing both ways, or alternating) Direct Current(electricity flows in the same direction AC/DC-slang for bisexual
What other ones are there? This is how I process things so I apologize.
And based on each interpretation what are some possible answers?
AC/DC(rock band)-AC/DC, AC/DC cover band, former member of AC/DC AC/DC(electricity/polarity)-Electric Eel Shock, She & Him, Mars Volta AC/DC(sexuality)- Ani Difranco, David Bowie, Placebo, REM AC/DC (lyrics, song titles, band name abbr.) Phish, Edison, Animal Collective, Beck
Which seems like the most promising direction? LOL we are never going to agree on anything
